    If you’re fishing in current you can use a trick with a weighted plastic bottle and a swivel. The idea is that you clip the swivel which is attached to the bottle onto your line so it can slide then you send it out and position yourself so that you’re upstream of the snag. You let the bottle go out until you think it’s at the snag then give it some line so it can pass the snag then you use the line snapping trick to free the line. The bottle helps pull the hook the opposite direction from where you’re pulling from.

    this is specifically made for above water lure retrieves (overhanging trees, submerged logs, etc). underwater lure retrievers are pretty common - basically a 2-3oz lead on a string that you send down your line to knock the lure free. check out the hound dog by Jewel Baits. Problem with those is that they don't work for above-water retrieves since it's so heavy you can't send it down your line fast enough to reach the snag.

First I would, hollow out everything that did not clip to the line, fill the hollowed out portions with tungsten fishing weights (The ones you use for Texas rig and drop shot) If it didn’t work... I guess I would have a new storage compartment for fishing weights.

  • @Tackle2thePeople

    @Tackle2thePeople

    2 жыл бұрын

    this was specifically made for above water retrieves (overhanging trees, downed logs, etc). most underwater lure retrieves are essentially a heavy lead that you can clip onto your line that knocks it free. only limitation of those is that they rarely work for above water since you can't send it down your line with enough speed

    My brother in law showed me a great trick for freeing up an underwater snagged line. He cut the line and tied it off to set aside. He then restrung his pole and continued to fish. When he got a fish he would untie the snagged line and feed it through the fish's mouth and out its gills. Holding the end in his hand he would let the fish go. The fish would eventually get to the end of the line and free it up. Then he would pull the fish and the snagged lure in saving both
