One thing I'd like to point out for Jester specifically: Having duplicate cards is a good thing, having singular cards is usually bad unless its a super good card or a dice replacer. The main reason is that finisher cards are extremely overpowered, so you want to push past your deck as quickly as possible. Also snapping is too good.

But you can only discard if you get both, so having two is not strictly better than just one. Like thinning will help, and yes sometimes having a second one so you can discard it would help, but other times having a second one will be just another useless card.

You used the term "finisher cards". Does that mean that there are different finisher cards? And can you have multiple different finisher cards at the same time?

@@Jehty_ yes, encore is a type of finisher, finisher cards are always in the end of the deck, thats just about it that means u are actually playing 2 decks with jester, your starting ones and a finisher pile at the end

@@pirilon78 if the later chapters are hard, that doesn’t mean you’re bad. That means the game is well balanced. The early chapters are supposed to be somewhat easy, then the later ones scale up to match your skill level. Getting stuck on higher levels is completely normal.

I remember losing my mind when I discovered that snapping cards like Bump caused them to create new dice. There was no doubt in my mind that he had the strongest limit break.

Just gonna say that the game's 'Finale' only unlocks after beating all 36 normal episodes. Also the halloween special episodes are super fun, don't actually know when they unlock but I think they are also after all 36 normal episodes. And episodes 2 and 3 of each character vastly change up that character's formula.

Warior hallowen special: Bacically an introduction on what mods can do, or the mods, somwhat simiar to 6th episode (Where rules are added eatch time you go down a floor), that's it inventor: All of your equvipment is horrible, but does synergise. HARD Witch: Bacically a puzzle mode where you need to beat your enemies in one turn. REALLY HARD

Tyler definately will have fun playing these bonus episodes, since they focus alot on the puzzle aspect.

some of the ascensions change the characters enough to where they have their own unique play styles. Its worth at least looking at the different ascensions of all the characters.

@@ReReCoil I just did it and went a block build, if you get enough block the health doesn’t matter but if you don’t go for it your are screwed

33:41 you didn't get a chance to see it this run, but if you snap a card that says it returns the dice, you actually get the dice for free. For example here if you use Spatula so that you have two Boop+, you could snap them and get two extra sixes.

35:01 It would've been totally overkill, but it was possible to get yet ANOTHER turn and almost certainly deny buster even a single turn of his own: 2 on Boop & 4 on Bop to draw Inventor and High Voltage, use your other 4 on High Voltage, then you'd have a 6 left over and can duplicate Encore since it'd be technically next in the draw, even if it's disabled.

@@buttonasas the reason is that encore is a once-per-fight card, but you can still duplicate it

Jester may seem like a really easy character to play but on Challenge 6 it's way more difficult to keep anything in order. It's pain, that's for sure.

Wouldn't "infinite" turns be possible with inventor+encore? That seems like a pretty OP combo if it is.

@@drunkshinx yeah, but then you'd have to: option 1: save the inventor till the end (you'd have to be really lucky) option 2: hope the inventor comes up last (yeah no) option 3: widdle down your deck until there's just a bop, an inventor, and encore (lol, but no) option 4: cheat (might be something funny there, try it out! (slightly joking, but i do want to see the anti-piracy/anti-cheat thing for it))

I'm interested to see what could happen if you upgraded the one that returns your dice, have only the return your dice cards+inventor, and just see if infinite turns is viable. Like if you specifically aimed for it and tried to build around it.

I'm well aware that this isn't the focus of your channel, but I took your advice in buying the board game Terraforming Mars and it's fantastic :D

PS again: the so-called ascensions change the character, for example the thief doesn’t steal whoever he’s fighting equipment for that battle, but instead gets to steal a card from them of his choosing for 12 countdown (affected by crowbar). Or warrior, where you get all of your equipment upgraded right out the gates, but get 1 curse every single turn.

Your content always makes me freaking happy! I love enjoying the strategy games without having to use my own brainpower haha! Thank you for everything you do!

Funny, it's almost like I'm playing along with you - I played Jester for the first time this morning! I picked the Shield Bash pack myself and it was fun; charging up my Shield to deal big damage with the bash (it doesn't go away when you bash either - so if they don't hit you hard, you can scale your power to ridiculous levels. I could have made the fight with the Paper Knight go on forever if I wanted!) Getting Iron Shield later on was very helpful in helping me scale it quickly. I was able to snag some Hall of Mirrors+ and Duplicate cards as well, which of course was quite nice. Oh, and my character card was the Witch; they discard your current hand, which is nice if your desired cards are further in and you don't get matching cards.

would've been cool to see how you unlocked the Jester, but oh well... For those who want to know, each time Tyler fought the Jester, he moved down a floor until he appeared as the final boss last time and Tyler beat him. He said that he doesn't want to be Lady Luck's lackey anymore and he got unlocked as a new special character.

Boss just chilling there, watching you spend 10 minutes on your turns to casually deal 63 damage. That is how playing Magic the Gathering feels.

watching your videos made me want to continue playing dicey dungeons and i have one challenge left to complete having a max health of 64

You should unlock a bear character while using rouge (or thief, idk how he is called), it’s a really fun one and very easy to play

You still have to get a bear run. All you have to do is have the thief copy the alchemist’s bear potion. Any equipment you have equipped will be replaced, but I don’t think it affects equipment in your bag.

Finally, the deck building of our dreams

It looks like encore is still in your deck until you are meant to draw it, so maybe you could save inventor to get encore back every turn? I think that would be a very cool build, and definitely broken.

I finally beat Elimination Round with Jester today, because I got a REALLY fast deck, + Dice Cannon and Inventor. I had my 4 Bops, 3 Boops, 2 Cauldron+, a Juggling Ball, 3 Duplicate, 1 Bump, 2 Buzzers, Inventor, and Dice Cannon+. On the final boss, on my first turn I set up my starting hand to be Inventor + Cauldron+ + Cauldron+, then on my second turn, I just passed to take enough damage to snap. And then I just kept snapping until I had only Dice Cannon and Inventor left, then toggled Inventor and went to town on the boss. Could have been a 1st turn kill if I was able to defeat the previous enemy without snapping, but the build is kinda terrible without Snap, as it's built around that as a wincon.

The game genuinely just dropped those 2 high voltages in the booster pack just to REALLY spite Tyler for scrapping the shock cards

obviously it's not a big deal but you missed two snaps in the boss fight, the first wouldve given you two free sixes which couldve potentially given you more damage/extended the turn (it wouldnt have in this case), and the second didnt really matter since you already knew you could use all of the equipment anyways you also could've used the inventor on the encore on the second turn to get a third turn and kill the boss without it getting to attack you at all this was a great video! really enjoying the series so far! I might have to try this game out myself

Seeing jester really makes me wish Tyler would go back to spire, but i still really love this series, this game is great!

Im really wondering if you snap Abilities that Return dice/give new dice would basically Generate you 2 new dice, making it Without a doubt the strongest power that exists in the game.

Yes it does, it work by playing the highest possible dice you can in the card you snap too. So it always does the maximum possible damage and card like duplicate and bump actually give you 4 new dice for free.

Just so you know on a snap if you snap something that gives you a dice it still does

You get two 6s and two 1s back if you snap Boop+.

Other characters have limit breaks that play a card twice or draw dice, jester just thanos snaps enemies out of existence

I think you could have one-turned the final boss if you'd used inventor to clone Encore+ so you'd get to use it again

If you could thin your deck enough, boop+>inventor>encore+ seems like it would be an infinite combo

The Jester to me is probably the most fun character to play, but all of the characters are really unique and challenging in their own ways. Except the Warrior on Episode 1, he is really bog-standard. Though I understand why, he is the first character you play.

How do you unlock jester?

ngl half the reason boop+ is broken is if you snap it you get free dice. also, jester my beloved, they are the most fun character in my opinion. I once did a curse build for them and got bear.. had to wait until tyler actually played them because theyre the last character and are therefore sorta spoilers? especially when you read their lines, because the game sorta has plot that tyler is just kinda ignoring ;^;

Do you know about the Bear character? VERY op.

Try to get the Bear character you can play him by using The Thief to copy an Alchemist ability to turn into a bear, i accidentally did that and didn't know you can be a bear
