@@Dabo2321993 Exactly the same, both for a nat 1 and a -1. I heavily encumbered my Durge to get disadvantage. With a base Str of 8 and -2 from the Mirror of Loss and -1 from the Hags Potion I've got a total of 5 Str, which results in a total modifier of -3. With a nat 2, this is a -1.

He cannot be played as a companion, he is the only one who is fully customizable, and he has deeper interactions with the storyline than any of the others who all frankly are like side quests. He is indeed the main character.

@@alphastronghold715 Even that one-shot campaign with the voice cast treated "Tav" as a Bhaal Spawn if I understood correctly.

I only ever see DUrge as a happy murder funtime thing, some of those moments where you reject Bhaal and fight against it are absolutely brutal. That one about being normal until you get the Urge is heartbreaking. "Foster parents ... how many loved ones died? Maybe that child was already a murderer."

There's another line somewhere that tore my heart out, where DUrge wonders to themself "Were you sweet, once?"

"The Lord of murder shall perish, but in his doom he shall spawn a score of mortal progeny, chaos will be sown by their passing. So sayeth the wise Alaundo." I was in Candlekeep looking for Gorion the first time I heard these words.

I cannot believe this game. They really did think of everything. It's even better because you may never use this spell depending on how you personally play through the game, and so even people who've played it for hundreds of hours may never notice this. God damn, I am too impressed with the work Larian has done.

BG3 is one of dissapearingly few games where 200+h of gameplay is due to amount of content, not because you have to grind or repeat virtually the same stuff time after time. No "random encounter" respawning monsters, no virtually same dungeons you have to raid 20+ times throughout the game - just a ton of content you can't fit in a single play through.

1.000 hours with 4 finished durge runs and I've never once triggered this 👀

Damn, the narration and the animations of Dark Urge's face are just on point... You can even tell the tiny changes in the creases around the eyes showing the emotions. And I even say that as someone that literally struggles with reading body language in real life...

There was a mod somwhere to force always rolling 1 :D

Larian is working on some more evil endings. Perhaps something will be Durge specific.

This also works with consuming the Noblestalk! I think you can also give it to Shadowheart for her memories.

Well, not exactly. You recover a different memory when eating noblestalk. Also Heal doesn't work on Shadowheart. (At least as a companion. I haven't tried it when she's the main character.)

Also if you give the trader the noblestalk and meet her again in act 3 she sells 2 noblestalks. Haven’t tested them with d urge

I'm glad I did my first playthrough as Tav, because after the extra depth to the story and character playing Durge adds I don't think I can go back. At least not till I finally mod the game to play a kobold to do a "silly options" run.

Same First game was Tav yet I wanna play Durge evil and instandly start a good Durge run afterwards where I try to protect all Tieflings ^^

The check is probably a one line of code bug that is just using default values. I'm willing to bet there aren't pass or fail conditions, and it was an accidental copy-paste error

Durge has had a terrible life, probably the darkest protagonist in any game ever.

15 playthroughs and ive never used HEAL on durge jfc... welp... at least they know now. "was i ever sweet once?" yes, you were.

Fair to say, there was a moment in the Durge's lifetime that she/he wasn't a callous murderer. For a very brisk moment, they were alive and able to play. But even then Bhaal would claim his due.

I actually discovered this completely on accident. It was a really cool little surprise.

So would heal work on other people missing memories? Shadowheart? Baelen?

No, it doesn't. Just the Durge. Though I can only try Shadowheart as a companion. Maybe if she is the main character? But what I just realized, this is the state where Durge has already eaten Noblestalk. It's a different memory they recover.

Of note aside from what was already mentioned at least in old Dnd Heal could even go so far as to heal mental damage BUT ... not magical induced effects. From what I remember Shadowhearts situation is magical induced so it's out.

Durge's memory loss is, as mentioned by others here, due to a physical wound to the brain. Heal can mend that to some degree, but it's been a long time since he received it. Thus, it can only do so much. Shadowheart's memory loss is due to the magic of a Goddess. she stared into a Mirror of Loss during her induction into the order and willingly sacrificed her memories for Shar. there are ways to regain it, obviously, but such methods are far beyond what Heal is capable of doing so.

3:30 Hex yourself for strength so you can do double throws for a 1?

@@GamingBirch Let me get this straight... xd... but... you used contagion on yourself... a vile disease, a disease that can afflicts many others... then were surprised you didn't get disadvantage after using Heal on yourself... which btw... heals all diseases? xD HEX is a curse so it would work tho.

When I play dark urge I remember my time in the dark brother in oblivion.

You can also dupe the noble cap mushroom in act1 and eat it for full heal to restore memories too.

Yup, but it restores different memories.

My theory as to what happens if you fail the check is that it failsafes into advancing the next dialogue anyway

I had a moment when a needed to roll 0 and rolled critical fail. it just magicaly turned into 20

You could force it by having something that temporarily drained your strength stat, and having a -1 on it. I'm not sure if there is anything like it, but hey... If there's any like it... If you're good at programming, you could also check the code of the game, to see if there is any hidden choice, or if it's a leftover code.

If you gave the dwarf lady noble stalk, you can get more in the city, would it also have a different memory after Orin?

Oh... I never gave Noblestalk to the lady, but according to the Wiki, Noblestalk depends on meeting or not meeting the butler.

No way am I almost done my first full dark urdge campaign and not know this. How the hell have I never healed him?

You probably just healed him by different means. After all, expending a level 5 slot is pretty expensive. And now that I think of it, I don't even know if this can trigger during combat.

You can't ever fail the check, it's always going to roll at least a 1. I even think it's rigged against a nat 1.

It would be possible to get a negative number on that strength roll. (If anything would come of it, that's another story.) But if you make a character with an 8 (-1) strength score at character creation, That will get you to 0 on a critical fail roll of 1. To get even more in the negative have somebody else in the party wear an item that causes the Reverberation debuff, and give it to durge before the roll, and durge should be able to roll a -3 (1-1-2). Again, probably wont do anything beyond maybe crashing the game, but still...

There are two helmets. The one in the end is indeed from Sarevok. The other one (seen in majority of the video) is Horns of the Berserker, which is sold in Wyrm's Crossing.

Horns of the berserker sold by the dwarf housing the Harper’s in wyrms crossing, he’s one of the best merchants in the game since terms of gear although this helmet is mainly for monks

Fun Fact: You can’t fail a difficulty 0 roll because even if you get a 1 it automatically turns to a 20… I had this happen once to me

Having 8 strength is still not gonna help, because even with -1 modifier, you need to roll a 1. Mirror of Loss would do the trick, but with the state of my save games, I thought I would definitely roll a 1 faster, than it would take me to clear House of Grief.

Does this work on Shadowheart and Baelan too?

Not Balen. I haven't tried main character shadowheart, but it doesn't work if she's a companion.

I used this spell in the middle of a random fight we were losing, and then got this cutscene in the middle of it 😂😂 I was like wtf lol. You can also do this by eating the noblestalk

I was wondering what happens if you do it during fight :D Noblestalk restores a different memory though. Actually two memories, depending if you met the buttler or not.

You can't fail the check with a positive strength modifier. Maybe a low Str build or bane could make it fail.

@@Myzelfa oh. In this game, a Nat 1 is an automatic fail, no matter what. You can have a +50 bonus on a DC 2 roll, but a 1 will still be a fail.

Actual wording of the spell from D&D 5e: Heal 6th level Evocation Casting Time: 1 action Range: 60 feet Target: A creature that you can see within range Components: V S Duration: Instantaneous Classes: Cleric, Druid Choose a creature that you can see within range. A surge of positive energy washes through the creature, causing it to regain 70 hit points. This spell also ends blindness, deafness, and any diseases affecting the target. This spell has no effect on constructs or undead. At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the amount of Healing increases by 10 for each slot level above 6th.

Maybe you could re-spec your character briefly, drop your strength to an 8 and have a strength hex put on you so you'd have a negative modifier. You might then end up with a negative result with enough re-rolls.

So redo of the healer was right?!

@@kingofsting19there’s almost nothing that an evil player can get in the game except Minthara, and they end up LOSING a ton in the process. They tried, but it feels like Larian punishing people for daring to actually not be heroic.
