What's a good way to find good spots near you? Any community resources?

One good way to find good spots is to look up some of the steepest neighborhoods in your area on your maps. The other way to go about this is to simply drive around and get yourself intentionally lost. I've found some of my favorite spots to Freebord EVER completely on accident! 😅

I tend to do similar to Alpha, walk or cycle around my city and then stop when I find a spot. I really enjoy the whole process and can easily spend a full day doing it. You'll also start seeing spots everywhere once you start 😂

@@easy_riders That too! Another thing you can use is an app that lets you see the topography of your area, and where the steepest parts are.

F this brings back some great memories! I should really dust off my freebords and start riding again this summer. Too bad my homecountry of the Netherlands is such a fucking pancake with no mountains :(

I really want to go to the San Francisco Freebord event. I've already gotten in contact with Mike Hoppe on Facebook, and now its a question of how I'm going to make the trip to California.

Imo the worst part to learning to Freebord is wrist sprains which is also a common injury for the Snowboard. The main difference is the snow won't graze your skin but idm those so much 👍

+1 concrete is literally more dangerous than powder or slush

IMO, this'll wrongly teach new riders how not to turn on a snowboard. There doesn't seem to be a proper feeling of a snowboard's "edge hold" with that skateboard

Definitely true, for sure there is a region on snowboard that doesn't exist on the freebord. The "edge" region is much more extreme on a snowboard 👌

That's my main frustration with freebord.... I'm hoping that the 5X I've ordered will carve more similarly to a snowboard. Otherwise, I recommend the carve board/streetboardz for training carving and edge transitions.

It’s not “difficult” to learn. And snow is FAR more forgiving that asphalt
