The bait has been moving down the beach and this is an example of right place at the right time. We were fishing for a few hours and it was very slow. Then as we were leaving we saw the Mullet coming. We fished action like this for about 30 minutes before they moved on.
I'm fishing my 9' custom Snook rod I built with my 6500 Penn Slammer III High Speed. The reel is full of 30lb invisi-braid. I like using the bigger combo this time of year because you never know when you'll hook into a big Tarpon.

  • @JoeyAntonelli

    @JoeyAntonelli

    5 жыл бұрын

    Incoming tide is definitely calmer. My advice on going out when it's rougher is look at the inlet and plan a path. Sometimes it's good to hug the South Jetty then go around all the rough water till you get far out and loop around to the north side sometimes it's good to go on the North Jetty. Just depends on the swell. Also once you've committed don't try to turn around in those rough standing waves. I would just suggest sticking to the calmer days.

    I catch thousands per year and have released them in the net and it's a lot safer to throw them in head first. If you drop them down the net the waves beat them up against the pilings and they end up floating. If you drop them in head-first it gives them a burst of water through their gills and they kick off every single time. This Jetty is only about 10 to 15 feet off the water. Nowhere near as high as most other piers.

    Theo Brown please don’t ever come to my jetty and drop fish back down into nets they don’t get revived properly and float out after being beat up by current and waves trying to get it to swim out of the net, as well as the fabric net material ripping the fishes slime coat off as it’s sloshing back and forth before it finally comes out.
