Fishing is absolutely on 🔥 back here in long Island sound, especially around plum gut and out towards the CT side. Stripers are running like crazy as well as Taug and Seabass, there's even some triggerfish and Spanish Mackerel that have found their way in the area.

Blue fish are awesome fried especially the day you catch them. But you don't have to bleed um or or slush them with ice within 30 seconds they'll still taste good if you just throw them in the cooler and clean them later.

My favorite time to fish is definitely the mullet run. Appreciate the drone footage, unless you see the big bait schools getting busted by predators in person it's hard to imagine. Don't know if this recent full moon had an effect on the mullet, but 30 years ago they ran on a September full moon in NC. Maybe it's about the ocean temperature. One more thing, what brand is that fishing fanny pack you're storing your pliers in?

Great video, but these relentless pursuits after snook and tarpon in FL for MAYBE a handful of fish are what really make me miss NY. Back there, you could easily catch dozens of bass every single morning during a sandeel run. At MTK you could make a killing with dozens of fish in the 20’s and 30’s (lbs NOT inches). If you saw blowups like that on a Long Island sand beach you’d wear your arms out with the bass and/or blues. Down here, it seems like a hell of a lot more work for just a few fish. The fish are either too picky, there’s too much bait, there’s not enough predators, I don’t know. People get excited when they catch 2-3 fish. In NY that’s considered a bad day/night. Oh, I wish I didn’t miss NY surf fishing so much. I wonder if I’m going to have to just travel north for the NY fall runs…

hahaha. You know in rough seas I have seen Striped Bass up North eat rocks to weigh themselves down. Or maybe they eat them when they are looking for clams, and sand worms. I once cleaned a striped bass with 8 rocks in its belly. One was the size of a golf ball.

Everyone who fishes knows that fishing on the beach has a good chance of catching a shark, if you are not prepared for that don't go fishing, you have to have long claws or stay home. Leaving a shark with a hook in its mouth puts you on the edge of sport fishing or animal abuse…and this is the second video I've seen that you leave sharks with hooks, it's easier for you.
