Great informative video, the best one I have watched on surf fishing and I have watch quite a few. Highly recommend this video if you are like me wanting to get into surf fishing. I go surf fishing every day, 8-12 hours per day, and here are my pro tips: - use bright colored speckled floats and eggs to try and attract the fish. - shrimp could get expensive over time, so use medium and small sandfleas along with fingernail size fishbites (sandflea or shrimp flavor) - if using shrimp, cut the body with shell-on into small chunks and dehydrate by putting it into the fridge for a couple of days until the meat is rubbery. This will make the shrimp stay on the hook better when casting. They also love eating the head, but cut off the horns and keep the head frozen. - it’s not about how many rods you have but how often you change your bait. It’s pointless to have 10 rods sitting still with empty hooks. Change your bait every 20-30 minutes regardless so that when casting the sound of the weight hitting the water will attract the fish. - don’t feel bad if the fisherman next to you is catching a lot of fish and you are catching none. Fish cannot swim forever. They get tired and have to stop, rest and eat. If there are 10 rods, maybe only 1-2 rods will get all the hits because the school of fish decided to park there. Just keep on re-baiting and casting to try and attract the school over to your rods. If still no fish after an hour or two, then move to a different spot.

DUDE! This was by far the MOST informative fishing video i think ive EVER seen! After fishing for hours with no luck using the basic setup on the rod at the rental where I'm staying at Indian Rocks beach, found this video, rigged up the pompano rig described in this video and hit the beach. I consistently reeled in fish for the next two hours right up until sunset. This video was a game changer, can't thank you enough!

Top two comments are right. Most informative video by far. My dad took me surf fishing as a kid but we didn't really catch anything. Going on a trip now by myself and figured I'd learn. For surf fishing it only says resident license on go outdoors Florida and it's free..... It doesn't say anything about non residents surf fishing. Not sure if you know about that

Not sure? I’m in the military and Florida offers an all license pass for us for cheap. So I don’t really know the rules for anyone else. I’m also a FL resident. Wish I could help. You can always call FWC also they are very helpful.

Great video bud! Visiting Jacksonville and St. Augustine with the wife and kids in a couple weeks from Minnesota. Staying on the beach and bringing a travel rod & reel the fam got me for my last b-day. Can’t wait to set a line. The info you covered about reading the water to identify and fish the structure was 100% key! Priceless tip! Was stationed in Mayport 20 years ago on the USS Philippine Sea. This is my trip back to the area since I left and you’re video was just the thing to put me back on track for some beach fun. Lastly, but not least, thank you for your service man!
