Well, I figured if I was going to mod a Seiko Tuna, it ought to be one that stood a chance of hangin around long term. HA! This steel stunner stands a much better chance than the blue one ever did, let's be honest. Looks good with the sapphire too, and it was an easy mod. Cheers, Jody

Looks great Jody and you make it look so easy. Can’t even count how many times I have put the strap on the wrong way round, so your not alone there. The Barton’s really are great. 👏👏👏
Jody, you’re so right about the color for you. This is spot on. And thanks for the video … I’m always a bit scared to get into a watch and this kind of tip-to-tail video is reassuring and helpful.
Morning mate...you've said it before many times.."what a difference a piece of glass makes"..I did exactly the same to my shimmery blue dialed, save the ocean turtle..elevated it by 100 percent. There is something about seikos design dna...once you put a domed sapphire in,throw a strapcode on and you have a watch that really can hold its own.all the best mate!
I have the exact same model, and am now planning on this mod/upgrade--the double dome almost always gives off a slightly vintage vibe and really boosts the look of this piece. Had a chuckle over the crystal manufacturer's warning---"Note: please avoid violent impact". I'll do my best...
IMHO you made the right choice as the steel/grey one looks much nicer and the added touch of sapphire and new strap is the upgrade Seiko should've made but a fun video none the less. Great mod Jody!
Best looking Tuna I’ve seen. Going shopping …
Absolutely love this one. I've modded one of mine (the white one in the series) I have the darker patina version which I want to mod now. That said I'd love to see this on a steel shroud
Nicely done, Jody. I have recently upgraded my Casio Duro with a sapphire crystal and it makes a world of difference, looks a real step up in quality and it gets noticed by friends now, which was not the case previously. Then, @justonemorewatch have you looked at the Seiko SUT403P1 mini tuna, yet? Same distinct tuna style but in 38mm form with no date. I am a real fan of sub 40mm cases and I think this might just be on the horizon for me in 2023.
I own a Seiko Street Tuna as well (black version) and it’s such a fun tough looking piece. Yours came out great Jody! 🙌🏽
Nicely done mod! Those Barton Elite straps are amazing. I love the keeper locking onto the end of the strap, leaving no tail sticking out.
Great review of a cool diver. I love the rubber keepers. The metal keepers are scratch magnets.
Thanks for the video - you are a braver man than I for changing out the crystal by yourself. From what I saw in the video, the domed sapphire seems to provide more bounce back (not less), but if you are happy with it, that is all that counts.
Normally Seiko and Citizen divers have fat spring bars , if you wear these watches with an usual size spring bar a long time that way, which is thinner , the holes can show wear , especially when you have titanium cases .
I have this very watch, my first lockdown weakness. Love it. Accuracy is way beyond that stated. A couple of seconds in years. Fantastic. I did grow to find the look a bit spiky, vso put a steel shroud on. Gives it a more premium look. Yellow silicone strap. Perfect Summer grab n go.
Very amateur modder here, really excited to see another mod from you! Hoping for more in the new year. Thanks for letting the rest of us live vicariously through you!
Yay, glad you got another one.. love the dimensions doesn't feel too big.. awesome watches. The blue was pretty legible but returned mine - not hitting the indices no good for OCD. The blue sapphire may look good on my Padi:P
Great video as always Jody. I bought the same SNE when you bought yours, but like you, just didn’t get on with the blue so mine too had also been moved on
So impressive how you do these, I tried once with an invicta pro diver, and failed miserably. Had fun though 😁
Glad to see you swapped the blue tuna for a much better looking one, I just bought the same one for the same price so no doubt from the same place, I might wait until I have a few scratches on the Hardlex before I swap out the crystal though.
Hey Dr Jody, nice to see you doing another great mod! And can I say, good decision to sell the blue street series for the silver and grey! I always thought the blue street series missed the mark. But what a coincidence - 5 mins before I was looking at the same silver and grey 'J' model (perhaps from the same site, although now $294) and contemplating modding it - while wearing my 'Save the Ocean' blue tuna SNE518P1! I love the hands and indices on the SNE541J - reminiscent of the 62MAS I think! But the (simple) mod I was contemplating was a stainless shroud and bracelet, but now I'm thinking with sapphire too! Although I still haven't 'pulled the trigger', yet.. Update - 12 days later - $265 AU from Starbuy this weekend - it's on its way!
Very nice job. I have a Seiko diver that I did the same thing. Pop in a sapphire crystal and it looks like a different watch.
Really like that colour way. I'm going to keep an eye out for one.
Seiko tuna Solar or auto are one of my favourite models of Seiko... and moding them are easy because there are so many accessoiries to fond to change them like few casio...
Wow-/ looks so good with the sapphire! Definitely need to find one of these…
That was well worth the upgrade Jody. It looks great. 👍👍
Looks really good, much better than the blue one you had before
Good job Jody! 👍
Great job! I like either sapphire or acrylic. I either want it to be scratch proof, or I want the be able to polish scratches out! I hate mineral crystal because it scratches, yet I can’t polish them out.
I do like your mod more than going from Hardlex to sapphire because the dome adds character...I own the big brother Tuna 300mm with domed Hardlex from the factory that I prefer from the new re-issue Tuna 300mm with flat sapphire. The Tuna 300 is such an icon, I will likely never flip this watch. But to complete your solar Tuna, I personally would replace the plastic shroud. Should be able to find a suitable metal replacement on the web. I know enterprising aftermarket suppliers make them. Happy New Year!
That is a great looking watch. Much prefer it over the previous blue version you had!
You are giving me some confidence to start tinkering with watches a bit more. Thanks Jody

Doooooo iiiiiit James!
Well done Jody. I always love watching your videos. I'm thinking of changing the glass on my PADI and this video is spot on. 👍
I'm hoping to get a sapphire crystal mod done on my SNJ025 Arnie eventually. Probably going to have someone else do it though, I don't have the tools or experience to do it myself. I ended up swapping the strap for an Uncle Seiko GL831 that's really nice.
Felt the same about the blue. Nice watch. But this one is really nice. Looks great. But the blue you got a tremendous deal on at the time of purchase.
Nice Job, Jody! Well done. 👍
Impressive how easy you make the change look…for further ‘update’ you could consider changing the shroud to stainless steel matching the bezel. It makes for a completely different look.
Good taste, Sir! Less is more. Most tuna mods are messing with the shroud. In this case it harmonizes with the black strap flawlessly. You make modding look easy and not because of speeding up the video. Good job! 👍
Great stuff Jody! Always tempted to give my Seiko 5s the sapphire upgrade but terrified I'd make a balls of it. Took me long enough to master things like bracelet adjustments and still not quite confident when it comes to pin and collars.

You can do it! Practice on a Casio Duro!
Nice looking watch jordy.nice touch with the saphire crystal.
I liked the look of this, but I build my own watches now. Luckily for me there is a clone case and dial on Ali. So together with appropriate hands and a NH35 movement I'm going to have the word's first "solar" automatic! I've also ordered another Hemsut nylon strap which you should try. Well made and very comfortable. Including the strap I've spent the equivalent of $110 US.
Seiko surgery! Thank you for sharing this Jody, I haven't the balls to do this stuff yet. YET! 😂
The patient lives! Dr. Jody with another successful operation. Cheers from frosty Florida!
Great job. I would love it even more with a steel shroud.
For me, blue has always been my favorite color dial especially faded blue to black dials. But I love seeing what other people like.
I'm a fan of blue watches but this is definitely a better looking piece than the previous! Almost getting to pro level with these mods now Jody
How much fun was that! Thanks Jody!
Excellent job !!!
Another great video Jody! I have a question: when you swap out these straps on a Seiko "Diver's" watch do you ever change the spring bar in the new strap for a Seiko "fat boy" spring bar so it fits better in the larger lug whole? I tend to worry about it and with a Barton silicon quick-release spring bar I take it out and squeeze in the fat boy (or a slim fat boy which still has the thicker head). Do you think I need to bother?
Loads better than the blue one Jody. That dial and bezel are gorgeous.
The watch looks great with a domed crystal!
Nice watch. The watch face looks a lot like the Bulova Sea King (96b228).
I reckon the flecto is worse. It picks up the reflection at most angles, whereas the original only at some angles, plus the Hardlex had a nice little bevel. I do prefer a subtle dome, but have never scratched a Hardlex crystal, I think it gets unfairly knocked!

Yeah hard to say.. everyone knows sapphire is better, depends if you like flat or not
Will this method work for my 2nd gen Monster? And as usual, great video Jody.
First, you pick up the same positive display bluetooth square Gshock as I did, now you get the same solar tuna. I think I get why I watch this channel. You have excellent taste. ;)
I have the same street series tuna watch in green but i am finding the case back impossible to get off. I have the same tool as Jody is using and also one of the steel three prong openers and i have found the notches too shallow and the opener just slips off. I have never had this issue on any other Seiko watch. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi Jody! Happy new year to you, may I know your wrist size? It seems to be a perfect fit to you despite the Tuna being a 45mm watch.
Great show, Jody. A huge step up from the blue one! 👍
Good job, Doctor.
Really terrific looking piece, Jody. When I have the time, I plan on modding three of my Zelos SF40s. God bless me! :)
Great video! I really enjoy the mod videos.
Way nicer than the blue one, good job mate
looks fab. they also look cool shroudless. a friend of mine had one of these die due to a broken plastic cog in the movement which put me off of getting one.

I have several - they are all good so far! Go for it $265 AU at Starbuy this weekend
Had the blue one too and moved it on, Great looking watches but slight niggle for me was actual viewable dial size, trying to set exact time, maybe just me but dial is smaller than you might think, also disappointed with lume for a Seiko.
Nice. Ive got an Arnie Padi, similar sort of thing, ive heard that sapphire crystals with AR can affect the solar charging, is that a load of rubbish?
How do you find out the size of the sapphire crystal you need because I have a citizen watch I want to change from hard lex to Sapphire but I don't know the size that I would need or how to go about finding out what sizes it is
Well done, Jody. I like the grey better than the blue, as well. What watch were you wearing in the intro?
I have this on wrist as I watch the vid. 🤩. Well done, I love the strap as a daily no metal keeper is nice. I would love to go full metal jacket, 🤔.
If you can stand the extra weight, Namoki sell a steel shroud for this. They look super.
Jody I've been looking at Sekonda watches in the UK ..... Look to be good value for those living through the 'cost of loving crisis'.....
Tuna design is so brutalist that shark mesh is the only bracelet/strap combo I can picture it with.
That's an insane price! These were going for near 400 around here in the US not long back
I like the tool look of these watches, about the only Seiko I would buy these days as I feel they are overpriced now and you can get the generic movement in better cases.
I owned an sbbn031 (proper tuna) which had a beautiful domed hardlex but sold it cos I couldn’t justify the value tied up in it with all the other modded seikos I was accumulating. After a while I bought a cheap sne497 to replace it but was disappointed both with the flat, lifeless hardlex and the plastic shroud - it looked like a toy. I Modded the watch with a double dome sapphire with clear AR and a 316l stainless shroud from Ali which for $30 odd bucks is incredibly well made and it absolutely transforms the Watch’s appearance to something similar to the sbbn in terms of quality. I suggest you go the shroud Jody!- It will match your stainless bezel insert very nicely and I suspect will transform it like it did mine.

I have the sne497 and also replaced the shroud with a metal ali express replacement and agree that it transformed the watch. I assume the crystal Jody uses in the video is the same fit? I know it's 29mm but unsure which thickness to go with? As someone with the same watch, would you advise me with which crystal you went with. Thanks.

@@richc4349 I used the CT061 crystal with clear AR from seikomods- specifies it’s for the solar tuna/SNE series
Hello 👋 well you certainly make it look like very easy 😉. Very nice 👍
Looks great with that bezel.
Good job Jody!
Looks magnificent my friend now you have proper Tuna ,much better looking 👌 perfection, future purchase.
Nice looking Tuna👍
I like the look of the flat hardlex better
I got myself the Arnie in the boxing day sales...love it
Great choice. I like this one more aswell. Enjoy it 😁
Another good job and the black does look better I think but I do have a lot of blue coloured watches but that would be because one of my favourite colours is blue but so is black. Well like I said it looks great. Could probably start your self another income stream having others send you there watches for mods. Again great job love it 😊
Really enjoyed this video
I’ve spotted this many a time when looking for a Tuna, one of my favorite versions; options get far more limited when you go down in size sadly.
Bosh, done like a pro. Nice one Jody, enjoy.
Just noticed that the gloves really fits your hands unbelievably well. It’s like coated. 😮
Good job on the mod Jodi
Not a big Seiko fan but after the mod I like it. Nice one Jody.
Awesome t-shirt Jody
The solar tunas are great.
Yes
Personally I would have gone with flat sapphire, as the flecto from domed crystals makes the dial less legible. But it looks great nonetheless 👍🏼
What does modern due to the warrantee?
good job!
Dobra robota 💪👍🇵🇱
I see the Chapter Ring is still slightly out. That's my biggest bugbear with Seiko watches in general. I have a SKX009 and TBF until they sort out the quality misalignment issue's. I won't be buying another...
Well done buddy!
brill watch cheers
Wow that seconds hand though!
Huge improvement Seiko should have built them like that in the first place.
