In this episode, I went kayak fishing in the Oldtown Sportsman 106 Powered By Minn Kota in 2 new spots. I caught a couple fish and had some amazing encounters with manatees and one of them scared me to death!

Nice drum! I've had several similar experiences with manatees. Literally scares the hell out or me, especially when in total darkness!

Have those encounters every year with the manatees, had one scare me a couple of years ago when it smelled my arm before I knew it was there then it played with my bait bucket for awhile. Was hoping to see you catch something at the first spot being less boat traffic there now that the boat ramp is closed.

I’ve heard those Minn Kota electric motors are great but I’d probably get a pedal kayak and maybe add the motor later… pedaling back would be so much easier if something happened. Still a sweet setup when you can set it lock your position. How long does the battery last and so they come with a battery gauge?

That’s a killer setup you got though… wish I lived near the ocean for sure. How do you think the Old Town PDL Salty would do in the ocean? I know it’s a little less stable but the hull design is much faster and for a PDL kayak that thing hauls at like 5.9-6/mph

Salty is probably fine. It depends want you want. I like the sportsman because it’s easier to stand up and the 10.6 model fits in the back of my truck
This happened to me by the Gandy bridge, was fishing not paying attention and a manatee hit my Kayak,almost shitted my self
