The run did everything it could to stop ryu way earlier. A troll level, that 5 gap jump and this combination lock, where ryu made the 300 iq move and skipped. Cool run, cool video.

I thought so too, and I was curious enough to go play the level. Turns out it wasn't the pillars at all. The title of the level was Bank Robbery, and you were supposed to listen closely in order to figure out how to beat it. When you hit the correct number of times, the enemy walking above would end up on the one-ways, which produce a clicking sound continuously. Then you move to the next column and hit it one at a time, listening for the clicking to stop and start again, which told you that it was the correct number. I think the title was a clue that you were supposed to be playing it like a bank robber cracking a safe. If you're interested, the correct password was 3-1-2-3, and once you get past you can go straight to the flag.

This HAS to be in the top 5 best Ryukahr's runs!

That combination lock level is actually quite easy to “lockpick” - you just have to count the goombas in each stack, then restart, and kill just enough so that the tops are all level. Tried it just now, beat it easily. The clear rate is around 25% so I’m clearly not the first one to figure it out… also not sure how it ended up in super expert.

FR, it's every time. Ryu says "rip this run, for real this time guys" then he beats it two lives later. The only exceptions are when the level is like 12 midairs or terrible life choices. But I've seen him beat SO many supposedly run-ending levels, be they TAS or team shell or whatever else

Its times like 17:57 that I think Ryu forgets who wears the crown as best MM2 player, but then 18:11 happens and he's happily reminded lmao

I actually got the second level there in an endless run, too, but it was only in Expert at the time. Guessing the algorithm moves it to Super Expert if enough people lose tons of lives or skip it. Very neat coincidence though!
