I think it's more loading rooms which are barely off-screen. If you see, the rooms change depending on whether Ryu's coming straight from a checkpoint or if he's done something before (like if he's collecting two coins in a row)

Entity limit combined with screen scroll makes for the best trolls. I am currently working on my first troll level and already in love with the custom screen scroll. now if only i understood entity limit and how to utilize it. I get the basic idea considering ive maxed out some of my past levels with entities, but not really sure how to plan a level around having max entities... probs just need to do more research

@@getsinged7631 "it's the solution to a ton of them." Are you sure? The vast majority i've seen actually prevent you from dying on the path from CP2 to CP1 (before they moved to entity limit stuff, anyway), so the only way to die there is by timing out - and if that were the WR strat to this level, the WR would be over 8 minutes, so that wouldn't be a hint like OP said. While it is possible that this level lets you die if you go to the key door early, i find it more likely that it just destroys the blocks to the right instead.

@@cQunc Are you thinking of standard red coin levels, or red coin troll levels? It's very common for red coin troll levels to give you a troll keydeath at the end, respawn you at the second checkpoint with a key and then let you finish the level, that's become basically the meta for red coin troll levels, so dying without recollecting the first checkpoint is the easiest way to solve most red coin troll levels. Even if it means timing out, 5 minutes and 1 life is probably a much faster end than trying to play the level out.

  • @popsicleman1834

@@getsinged7631 That was true long ago. New meta is having 3 or 4 checkpoints by either forcing you to immediately collect a coin when you respawn or forcing you to collect said coin before hitting the checkpoint, then a classic ELB setup to trigger two different outcomes (ON/OFF state, perma-Pswitch, etc.). This way, dying at CP2 doesn't skip the level.

I have an idea that might make these challenges more interesting. It would be cool if for the duration Ryu tallied up his wins and losses, counting wins as +1 and losses as -1 and then see how high of a score he can get (or just stay above zero). This way it’s not as big of a deal if he gets ryuvenge right away but still keeps the challenge aspect to it. Could even add rules like if he one-shots it he gets +2 or something like that.

Just remember, when the uploader of the troll level was uploading it, they had to get all the red coins in 1 life 3 times in a row because of clear conditions. And clear the end from each part too

The keycoin trick is amazing. The trick must be in the double checkpoint: you can't die after the checkpoint below the keydoor because there's nothing that can kill you in that section of the room, if you go in the pipe you immediately get CP1 and if you accidentally go to the keydoor before you got all the coins it's a softlock. This way, the creator can play with what's loaded and what isn't depending on whether you enter the room by the pipe or by respawning at the checkpoint. That means there's a way to trick it, though! If you get CP2 once and then just let the timer run to zero, you should be rewarded with the key, because there's no way for the game to check if you have keycoins in your possesion! (For those who were wondering, every other change in the layout of a room is done in a similar way: depending on which way you take, different parts of other rooms are loaded off screen, which make the changes you see when you actually enter for example the pre-CP2 room. For the flag room, it must be close to either the CP1 or pre-CP2 rooms, which register Mario's passage and make changes to it. If you get there from CP2, however, you enter it before and change is loaded, so that's the actual "original")

I honestly want more of that troll maker, his levels were great. Also, they weren't different rooms, he was using a coin counter to change the room based on how many coins you'd collected. The question block with the link powerup/spike ball was on a track, pretty sure he just sent a different block down.

I wouldn't mind seeing you tackle more troll levels like these in separate videos much like DGR does. These kind of troll levels _always_ have a fake-out at the end with the pole and it's so beautifully done most of the time that I can't help but feel impressed. Also, my favourite troll level ever made is Carl's Trash Can. Unfortunately, Nintendo took that one down sometime ago.

Anybody who watches Carl or any other one that plays Troll levels: "Yeah, that's standard..." Ryu: "MaGiC!" Which brings me to the point, I don't want Ryu to be like them, playing mostly troll levels, but I'd love to see him play more of them, like a special episode once a week or 2 weeks. His reactions to those, as somebody relatively... Ugh.. "untainted?", is fun to watch xd

Ah good troll levels are the best. I love the ones that put you in the box. Carlbox? Always. Troll levels have gotten so so much better than they used to be. Ingenious and hilarious. Try em out Ryu. I love Ryukar getting twice twiced over and over, 😂🤣 his face! Wut?! And red coin levels can twice twice twice thrice you like that because of how entity limits work and having the on off blocks. They are not replica rooms, but each time you collect a coin the room is set up to load different ways, it’s really in depth and complicated. But awesome! Top it off with a key death! Chefs kiss 😘
