This robot is mostly TRASH

Hi everybody!
Recon Unit PART3 - FINAL
In this third and final part, I do the painting and weathering of my scratchbuilt robot. If you wanna know how I made it fully, check out the other 2 videos. I'm always learning and getting better as I do this videos, so feel free to comment and tell me what you think and where to improve. Let's build!

Very cool! I find having more of the "junk" parts makes the design more creative and organic. Too many laser cut pieces seems to reduce the natural effect.

"It was looking kinda boring with all the gray, so I added more shades of gray." That didn't make a lot of sense to me, but I can see that it definitely worked (along with the orange accent color). Beautiful work!

Really good build! Only thing thats a little off putting, is how little detail the legs got compared to the rest of the body. I mean... they have detail but the dark colouring swallows it a bit. Smth. simple like painting moss or dirt would habe gone a long way to make this set tell more of a story. But this is just meant as some minor constructive criticism. Your build ideas are amazingly creative, your attention to detail, style and colouring is unparralleled. You truly are a grand master of model building! But what is not to be underestimated is how well you camera work is. Its always easy to follow what u do. Thanks alot for all the amazing work u do!

I use mostly CA glue, but some types of plastic are very hard to glue.. you can increase the surface of contact by sanding the parts a little, add some baking soda to increase the resistance, and if that's not enough you may try fast curing epoxy ! I some times even use some screws to keep pieces together! Thanks for your comment :)

I was making an action figure. I started adding details using stuff i could find (model kits, stuff around the house and the mall) and i unknowingly kitbashed a pretty cool robot. After that, i’ve been on a kitbash obsessed frenzy. I watched a bunch of kitbashing vids, and yours is very inspiring. This is coming from a guy who is enrolling in a college for a diploma in arts and illustration. Idk what is happening please help

I know this feeling my friend! Once you start at kitbashing/junkbashing/scratchbuilding it's very easy to become addicted to it, specially when you discover that even household junk can be used to create amazing things... I discovered this world some years ago and since then I've been collecting cool pieces from all sorts of objects (old mechanical electronics are the best btw). If I can give you some advice: keep track of what and how you storage you itens (it's easy to become a hoarder and for that I have some strict rules and try to keep things organized). It's funny, I'm also starting at college this year (visual arts) and even though these universes are pretty different from each other (I do some autoral art aswell) I like to keep moving and creating on multiple areas of expressions far from each other... Just have fun and create as much you can, this can't hurt! good Luck and share your results with me please, i'd like to see your work! Cheers = )
