Anyone who uses calculated shipping successfully can tell you that if you are accurate with weight and dimensions Ebay's calculator works. It does not over or under charge. If you don't want to overcharge you opt in to passing discount onto buyer. Free shipping can get risky with bigger items. If I am in Alaska I am going to buy from a free listing shipping rather than a calculated rate. You can't take into account all shipping rates with free shipping.

Not just in Florida at "The Villages", all over the country, for the most part, the STD and STI transmission rate by percentage is highest in retirement communities.

I asked and got the okay from the post office right after Thanksgiving and started going around back...so much easier and they said I could keep doing it after the holidays. Yay!

Resellers really need to start looking inside the boxes. I learned that lesson really quick

I would venture to say, a lot of the "Village" residents came from "other States" to retire there. Any vintage stuff has already been sold when they were preparing to make the move to Florida.

Yes, you can go to the back. You can start now! It doesn't have to be a long-term goal. :) I've been doing it for about a decade. Love it!

I used to go to the back of mine all the time until there was a car crash between a postal worker and an eBay seller dropping off his packages. It's a blind turn and the postal worker was flying out of the spot. It saved me a lot of time. They have stopped that since

I sold a long long time ago and always went to the back no problem. Back up and place stuff in their bins on the dock. Pretty sure they know to scan stuff that comes in from there, or I've seen them take the bins and start scanning stuff. Also would see others doing the same. Soo much easier than the front and these days probably more secure.

I agree with you on retirement communities yard sales. I am a reseller and live in a Florida retirement community. I pretty much have stopped even trying to source around here. You are also right about I 4. It’s seems so dangerous

Junk in the Trunk yesterday was awful! Because of the date change, there were only about 1/3 - 1/2 of the number of vendors that are usually there. The number of people seemed to be about the same so, since there were so many fewer vendors, the rows and tables were PACKED with people. It's usually a pretty enjoyable couple of hours. I did not enjoy it yesterday.

Hwy 40 through Ocala national forest is a great drive too. 😊

I live in Hawaii and when I ship Ground Advantage, it goes by plane. I'm amazed at some shipments that get to delivered to the East Coast in 4 days, just as fast at Priority Mail. And I get things shipped to myself via Ground Advantage from the mainland and it gets here in a few days. But I do think the larger the package, the higher chance it gets shipped via boat, like if I was shipping a stereo receiver. Heavier media mail definitely gets shipped via boat.

The point of ground advantage is by ground travel.My post office stated I could not use USPS ground advantage for an order I had for PR because of overseas. I had to change to USPS priority. I took the package back and contacted the buyer with an updated postage cost. They were fine with total.

Place a piece of tape over your label .. you won't have to worry about the rain

Hey Dave…do you actually do this for a profit or strictly for KZread content? You sell an item for$27.99 on Mercari and “I paid like $10 for it, it might have been $5”. Don’t we have to know what we pay for things to know if we have a profit/it was a good buy.…and to get it again or steer clear??? That’s why I’ve never understood the eBay/youtubers all going to accrual, except it’s less busywork.

You don't have to know exactly what you paid as long as you are certain it was less then what it sold for, and less by enough that it was profitable.

@@TopDawgResale true, IN THEORY… but if I made $.01 on an item, it’s technically profit but I’d rather avoid that buy in the future. I think we should have a good idea of what we paid (if not exactly) to make more educated buys in the future, but “I paid $10, or maybe $5…” leads most to believe it’s just a guess.

And if you do free shipping only do it on small items that fit in a cubic foot.

Melamine plates are easily polished. They can be made to look new easily. Just watch for any printed designs.

Realistically, you can change the shipping to whatever you want and they can complain or give you a negative review if they're upset. It's obviously not worth suing over. It's not an INAD, so eBay probably won't do anything about it. I suppose you could get in trouble from eBay, but I've never heard of if that.

I agree. I don't think most buyers pay attention to the service. I have gone from priority to ground and no one complains.

They moved to the villages to retire and they sold and moved out of their starter/family home that they spent most of their lives in and sold all their junk and clutter before they moved to the villages to retire that’s why they won’t have much good vintage stuff.

My post office offer the back drop off but the cut off is 2:00 which I didn't know and also so I tried it before 2:00 and I stood there for 10 minutes and no one answered the door and finally somebody did and they told me that only the manager can open up the door for people to accept packages and they said that she's always busy because I said I've come to the back door like four times and nobody ever answered and it's the post office literally on the Block I work so I have to drive to a neighboring town and drop off my packages at that post office makes absolutely no sense they only have one person that's allowed to accept the packages and open the back door but then she's the manager and she needs to be in the front helping in the front so she's never available to actually open the back door if I go so it's basically pointless

When ever I sell something big I put in the description I don’t ship to US territories Hawaii or Alaska unless they contact me first on the shipping

Get a tarp for the packages you set outside when it rains. Then just cover them with the tarp and they will stay dry.

Hey Dave, I don't understand why you want to spend money on sourcing when you can go source for FREE from your shipping container. I bet you could make that into several videos & a profit. Then sell the shipping container or terminate your lease, whichever is applicable.

I disagree to an extent, it is shipping and handling, plus the buyer knows the amount going in. Personally as a buyer the flat rate shipping cost is a spelled out so part of the bid. Plus when using flat rate there are many times where it can go a buck or two in the other direction. In those cases would it be fair to ask the buyer to pay more?

I loathe I4. 275 isn’t any better nowadays.
