yeah I hope they have something they can do because I honestly think that most of the "wildcard" devs we deal with would not be ok with what Shi Hai has done. I can't imagine working for a Chinese company like Snail is easy, it gives me a lot more sympathy for them.

I was one of the people who wiped 165 in 2018. Our allies and TEA had both built giant towers for their assault rifle aimbotters and spent 5 hours headshotting each other from outside render range. We found body bags of duped C4 in the volcano base. Our goal was to take the server for ourselves, as we needed an island for boss fights and ascension, and our server was being constantly DDOSed. A couple days into building, the entire server was reset back to how it was before we wiped TEA. A few other tribes wiped TEA after us, and the base was always simply reset. That was my first encounter with these guys. They were bad at the game. They had almost zero support from other tribes. We all had secret RMT, but TEA wasn’t just buying from us. They were buying directly from Snail Games. A-Team was Wildcard’s favorite up until they inexplicably got wiped. Jat was on the server giving them loot from enemy vaults on stream when he dev wiped P.A.N.D.A. It’s entirely possible that Shi Hai wasn’t completely wrong about their affiliation with Wildcard. It seems that he became angry when Wildcard’s pet started embarrassing TEA, and he forced Wildcard to delete them. The corruption in ARK runs deeper than anyone can imagine. Even this video is only telling you a tiny fraction of what we all knew back in the day. Every mega is corrupt to the core, and ultimately run for the purpose of RMT by a few individuals. All megas cheat. I don’t care who your favorite tribes or creators are, they are cheaters. Everyone cheated. Everyone. Wildcard, Snail, and other wealthy or resourceful parties frequently made a mockery of official servers. For example, the majority of BLDX was paid in red envelopes by their leader to sit in join sim and farm resources in both ARK and ATLAS. All megas had aimbotters. We all had red buttons for DDOS (ex: server 51 had to be moved from NA to EU during the war because YSS and BLDX wouldn’t stop DDOSing each other for 2 weeks). Every mega had meshed vaults and bases. Every mega duped. Cheating wasn’t part of the game, it was the game. If people could have seen the reality of what was happening, they would have called for every tribe on official to be banned and dev wiped.

I used to play another Snail game, Age of Wushu, and was shocked at how incompetently it was managed. There was one time when the entire player base had their in-game cash wallets stolen by hackers and Snail did absolutely nothing except blame the player base.

Thanks H.O.D. This has pretty much killed my excitement for Ark 2 knowing all this. I definitely don’t want my money going to Snail games.

We got banned and devwiped 2 times while fobbing TEA on classic last year. Both times wildcard unbanned us not even a day later but our progress was gone. The corruption in this game is unmatched 😅 Happy new year legend ✌

Thank you HOD! I’ve been waiting years for somebody to bring this to light. The corruption on Snail Games servers is so blatant and the cheating is out of hand. I’ve played countless wipes of Arkpoc, conquest, & classic and all ruined by the same exact people. I hope wildcard can split if that’s even possible, snail games is murdering it’s own product for such little gain..

I predicted it years ago. That devs HAD to be in on the hackers who were raiding massive bases and selling them for profit. I always just assumed the devs knew and took a cut of the profit to look the other way, or even help the cheaters.

A couple years ago i had a pretty nice base i had just set up in Scorched Central cave, i was the leader and had like 5-6 other tribemates at the time but i woke up not in the tribe anymore (even though i was the leader) and the base still intact but belonging to another tribe. Not 100% sure but the fact that i was removed from the tribe as the leader has always made me think some kind of admin abuse happened, i just cant think of any other possibilities. This was on Official but i have no clue which server.

It's an open secret mega tribes would have devs in their pockets too. Wildcard devs, not just the publisher, have been corrupt for a long time. Anyone remember when SE came out and a certain mega tribe had swamp fever cures before you could transfer to, or craft them in SE? Eventually it got so bad a gm actually came in and dev wiped the server eventually, but they had a dev in their pocket from the beginning.

Can't say I'm surprised. I wonder if other gaming news channels will talk about this? It seems like for the most part any drama involving Ark gets ignored whilst other games get talked about because of much more minor things.

Ignored? I Play this Game Since its Launch on the ps4 and their has been so much Drama. It was honestly depressing following all this. You are right If you say the Devs and Publishers ignored the Players. But the Community didnt ignore anything. Watch any mega Tribe Video from 2018 or 2019 and everyone is blaming cheaters. Nowadays those Chinese mega Tribe cheaters getting a taste of their own medicine. Just Like you See int his Video: the PvP Community rather makes an alliance with their biggest enemy to Fight Off the Chinese cheaters, than getting Driven of their Servers. HOD Made a Petition to remove Climbing hooks, Made the Mesh Monkey Video and got banned For No reason. Sure is that the PvE Community is Not heavily involved in this topic, so the Drama didnt reach Out to all the players. Compared to other Games, the Drama often is created in China or has its roots there. Maybe WE will See a lawsuit against Snail Games or Wild Card, Just Like Fortnite/Epic

So this is where it all comes from. The amount of videos I've watched from all different content creators, yourself included where they have to compete against cheating tribes is unbelievable now. It's absolutely disgusting behaviour from Snail Games and hopefully something will be done to bring them to justice. How can they deem it acceptable behaviour?, especially as the publisher of the game, it's beyond me. Studio Wildcard have taken so much flak of the years about this subject too, totally unacceptable. You're an absolute legend H.O.D. I'm a big fan of the game and love the content you create on your ARK adventures. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Yeah it was a risky one to release, but I believe it and I kind of hope they come for me and expose themselves further with a knee jerk reaction. I honestly just feel bad for Wildcard who seem to be obviously trapped in this and Ark 2 will be a mess if Shi Hai can continue like this unchecked. With ego like his I might get banned again 😆

This happened in ATLAS as well when it first launched. TEA (Black Butterfly at the time) gained admin access to the servers during the first few seasons of the game and wreaked havoc. We tried to get WC to drop SG at that time, but it never happened. I wish you the best of luck. It created an incredible toxic environment in that game that lasts to this very day.

I tried to play that game on a pvp server awhile back and 99/100 of the people I ran into were extremely toxic. There was only a single soul that I met through my whole play through that wasn’t an a hole and actually gave me a chance to play and enjoy the game and help me as a new player, he was still always on guard with us ready for a betrayal. How ever I had to go all the way to a polar island to meet him and get away from the toxicity. I decided to never play it again when I was put in a cage on a lawless island by a max level player with all feats and sealed in a 1x1 effectively making it to where I literally couldn’t play on an official server anymore unless another player let me. It still blows my mind that is a game mechanic. The general toxic behavior of the veteran players of that game have ensured that their game will be doomed to die because they do all they can to push out new players.

The problem there he might have a signed a contract/NDA at some point, if he we're to come out, they could more the likely sue him into oblivion while walking away with the rights to ARK

I had a strong sense of dejavu watching this video, because in Age of Wushu, another game from Snails which I played a decade ago, happened the same story: admins were playing the game in that one privileged "alpha tribe", running down the server and abusing GM power, spawning op gear and unfairly banning rivals. I guess Snails never changed their ways.

This makes so much sense now how mega tribes became so prominent in ark early on and how meshing duping aimboting became so popular. If the bloody gms are in the tribe and dup everything anyway they will too. I hope after this news something will give wild card the freedom it needs to actually address these issues. This exact same thing is happening in Atlas (launched 2018 by Grapeshot, also owned by Snail). Happy to share corroborating stories.

I am an OG of this game and this is one of the big reasons I just can't play the game I once loved. I've had something along these lines happen to me watched a pocket dev destroy our base for no reason but to assist this cheating mega tribe. The saddest part is this is just a small representation of what's happening in the world at large. Buckle up those who are honorable we have a huge battle on our hands...

this whole TEA/snail games issue is crazy. some of my mates got banned themselves when they tried to attack TEA on classic few years ago. 😆but it seems like TEA just got wiped on current classic season 6. and for arkpoc, i can definitely confirm that some tribes start with tek engrams without having to do any bosses. but they were practically wiped out by us last season when we played. so theres at least no unfair dev support in favor of the arkpoc cheaters.

Glad you brought up BDO as an example, but I think the circumstances between the companies are very different. With Kakao & Pearl Abyss, BDO was just one property among many for Kakao and not its primary money maker. For Snail, Ark is its ONLY commercial success and money maker. Every single other gaming venture from Snail has failed; Snail will hold onto Wildcard and Ark desperately because of that. Regarding cheating, the best case scenario right now is we get some brave souls within Wildcard to speak up and show any receipts confirming the allegations. That won't help with the issue of Snail owning Wildcard though. We'd need exposure of a breach of contract for that.

This video answered questions that so many of us have been wondering for years, but it's also made a few other things suspicious and left me concerned for the future. First, I wonder if Genesis, the animated series, and Ark 2 are things the Devs even want to do. If snail owns Ark they decide, right? My next worry is whether or not it would even be possible for a corporate split. Snail Games is the parent company of Wildcard and so holds the rights to the Ark series through them. The only possibility I see is maybe a Microsoft buyout, but that's only if snail agrees to the buyout. (I'm nowhere near a legal expert, but I think this is correct). Even then this opens up the question of funding. It's pretty common knowledge snail Games wants to turn Ark into a commercial series [see Ark park, Pix Ark, apparently two others being a Chinese free to play Ark and Ark GO, which was cancelled.] so most likely they are the funders of the animated series, and part of Ark 2. If wildcard does manage to split, that money could just disappear. This was all just wild speculation. But the issue of Wildcard being owned by Snail Games, who actively make the game worse should be the top priority. I really hope this gets coverage from media outlets at some point in the future, as that has worked in the past (* cough cough * meshing tutorial).

Crazy how I've been playing ark for almost 7 years and have somehow never gotten into the pvp scene. After seeing all kinds of videos on official pvp servers over the years I'm glad I never did though. Probably would've quit had I found out hundreds or thousands of hours of progress were wiped by cheaters like this. This further reinforces me wanting to stay on pve servers I definitely plan on trying out pvp in ark 2 assuming the game isnt complete ass.

They are very much involved in pve too. Especially, in almost every Genesis 2 servers. You think because it's pve, they can't hurt you. They can. Recently, they attacked someone who was calling them out, as much as I was. They tracked him with battlemetrics and hacked his account, took over all of his server bases, kicked everyone out and took all his bases and stuff. I have to constantly change my name so that they can't track me. They are so pig headed and proud, they admit they are the ones crashing and duping in our server and when reported, WC does nothing about it.

I haven't watched one of your videos in 8 years. I recently got back into Ark and I was super stoked to see you still here!

Dosent surprise me, we are fighting this in Atlas with "TEA Tribe" in atlas they are just called "Black Butterfly". And in there, we have plenty of evidence of Snail games being corrupt etc. So far the company i play with have been banned 5 times. And they have pretty much tanked the entire atlas population down to the point where it isent worth playing. But you can get more about that if you just reach out to the atlas community.

1:22 I haven’t finished the video yet but I KNEW (strongly assumed) this was happening the whole time. Have been telling people this happens for years and explains a lot of the messed up stuff that goes on the official clusters. With Ark 2, wildcard needs to recognize and address this issue and take steps to prevent it from happening again

~. Well thats one way to end/start the year. Respect for bringing these issues to light man and hopefully everything gets settled before Ark 2. I knew something was up and it was in internal problem. Lol

Great video, been waiting for a video like this. Look into beginner servers as well. There's a big Chinese tribe that plays on all 3 pvp beginner servers and cheat badly and obviously while never getting devwiped. I've long suspected them to be related to Tea as well. They literally speed hack to all the drops on the map and still don't get banned.

FINALLY! After over 6 years and 10k hours, more time then I've spent in ANY other game, I had to give up playing Ark because of the negative effects the constant cheating were having on my mental health. It became unhealthy how stressed I was getting, especially when I witnessed blatant cheating, knew for a fact it was being reported by dozens of people, including me, then watching the top people who spoke out against the cheaters get unfairly banned. I had to come to accept that it was impossible to play a fair game, as it was clearly being run by corrupt admins behind the scenes. I'm so glad that this is finally coming to light, and I truly hope WildCard is able to separate from Snail Games. Thank you so much for this video!

Wow... I played years ago. A tribe called TEA wiped EVERYONE except half a dozen rafts, hidden glitched in walls and waterfalls. They left eventual, and the 4 of us where all that had survived. It was ALOT of fun, but we had zero idea what the hell was happening around us.

I don't even play ark anymore, But this is infuriating. But is amazing to see a community take a stand. And the content creators taking on a social duty. I mean I wouldn't want to play on official servers anyway, but now I know definitely not to trust them. If it didn't take weeks of real time to tame and breed dinos I would....but sorry I work for a living don't have time to check back every 4 hours and make sure my dino is being tamed or still alive at all. Life is too short to waste it "raising and caring" for a bunch of pixels. When it takes that amount of effort to do anything in the real world.

Awesome video. But it infuriates me that we couldn't get this evidence back when the ARKeologist's Podcast was running. All we had were testimonials, allegations, and assumptions based on the scant evidence we came across or players who had inside knowledge but couldn't offer up definitive proof. Sure, we came to the conclusion that something fishy was going on with Snail Games and that Studio Wildcard was either in on it or were impotent because it was the parent company behind it. The worse part is, even if we had found this proof years ago, I doubt it would have changed anything. Or stopped Survivors from playing the game and supporting Snail Games.

It sucks to think that they got away with this for so long, but hopefully now all the corruption we have dealt with might warn people off trusting snail at least. I don't think much will happen, but it will be harder for snail to run their corrupt tribe at least. And I think people will second guess buying snail produced games at least I will 😄

However, that hope is thin given that I've tried for well over a decade to convince gamers not to support corrupt and anti-consumer developers. Question is, will the mainstream game outlets pick this story up? Might actually make that a change in the outcome.

I just saw all of your stuff on twitter about the video getting hit for like 9 mins worth of shit. I remember this happening to another creator when they spoke out about how much of a PoS Jenn was. That same tribe was or is called CNTM on the smalls cluster and it explains a lot of what they were capable of doing, I got the opportunity to talk with one of their members after failing to hold an alpha rathole that had 15 lvl100 characters inside of a crystal isles server, a couple hours after the easy raid because none of the guys inside that had any tekgrams a huge tribe called CNTM pulled up with what it seemed like infinite element (we were able to push one of their fobs at one point and discovered a dedi with 10k hard element which is a lot for a tribe that supposedly didn't live on server according to their id's on EOS) they used every cheat imaginable to push our fobs, main fob, and that was the only time where I witnessed actual DDOS in an official cluster server, no structure spamming, exo mek didn't exist at the time, no massive fence foundations structures and no mass ovis butchering. Just DDOS for hours. I still have some screenshots where the said stuff in chat like "welcome to cheat server" or "we are admins give up". Me and my tribe submitted multiple tickets targeting the various offenses to the COC and those tickets were either deleted or ignored. After the end of the fight I stayed in server trying to chat with the other tribe cause at that point I just thought it was hilarious how they could ddos a server for so many hours that supposedly had a lot of safeguards cause I knew by experience that it was expensive depending how long you did it for and he said in a very broken english "we get paid to do this, ddos free"

it is actually crazy how addicted some ppl are to this game that they cheat to achieve the goals in their own game... very good video thank you for bringing awareness to this

This isnt the only snail game they cheated on, they do it on Atlas as well.

I forgot all about Tea haha, I remember watching your videos of wiping them like 4 years ago or something. We play on PS on the offline raid cluster and we had a Chinese/Japanese tribe (weird setup, the Japanese all hated China but lived there and made a tribe with the Chinese) but they just abused the ORP mechanics and meshing to build a mega tribe, we fought them for like a year before they eventually got dev wiped and all their accounts banned

Been playing ark since launch on consle and have gradually grown apart from it. I occasionally get in a play for a weeks but if NFTs are added that will be the last page of my ark story. I new the game was curropt on official when I played but I had no idea how deep it went.

Yeah I was a part of that huge raid on them. Servers were rolled back AT LEAST 6-7 times after we broke through their defenses and started wiping them.. Everyone part of that raid knew they were cheating hard.

Jesus this is crazy stuff. What pure c**ts!!! HOD you have always made amazing content and brought so much to this game. Dont let this bullcrap stop. Keep working hard.

we've known this since the PPG raids back in the day but it's nice to have proof. it still breaks my heart i missed the fights because i had to work.

Really people should be giving wildcard some slack. I had no idea they had to deal with this. Sad

What tweet did shock expose I like the game and this gives credit to wildcard having no control so if anything gives me sympathy. It sucks but I think there is good people there in a bad situation. And they make good games just poorly run

Do you talk about the Shockist who also use every kind of cheat in this game ? The devs , the content creators , the players everybody a freaking cancer in this community this is the reason why I left . Good game but not worth any money and time anymore .

Hey H.O.D, sad to see that ark is still in a deteriorating state. You always had the best pvp content when I was playing. The rampant cheating outside of just meshing and duping etc is so crazy. Im happy you're doing your best to cover all this, we're all real passionate about this game but I hope all this isnt stressing you too much. Cant be fun uncovering such bs.

I have over 4,000 hours in Ark!! I have been forced to leave Ark PVP because my tribe were cheaters.. they were like forcing me to get my own cheaters & hacks and I refused!! I left and went out on my own but I have seen for years that PVP is just a massive cheater & hacker cesspit!! It has ruined the game!! We have to go through so much to report cheaters & hackers and every time it is ignored and then automatically deleted!! I have been in tribes with access to pocket devs (dirty developers who take bribes to do things in ark) and I know they are raking in thousands!! What happened when those GM Accounts were spoofed.. the dirty 'pocket dev' accounts were exposed in all those mega tribes and the cheaters were finally granted the pocket dev level access!! The end result of that is the PVP and PVE Servers were locked and rolled back while the spoofing exploits were resolved but the real outcome was exposing all those pocket dev accounts and where they were hiding!! It proved if their income and roles as pocket devs was compromised they could do something about the cheating & hacking!! Ergo.. they have refused to do anything for years and almost exclusively look the other way but why would they want to solve a problem that enables them to have a profitable role as a pocket dev to begin with??

Now we know why some cheaters don't get banned I guess

Ark could of had the love and support Rust gets from its community. I played at launch and quickly realized balance wasn't ever going to be a priority and happily quit. I like keeping up with the game but this just explains so much. At times you can feel the love put into this game but mostly there's this weird feeling that permeates everything. Anyways Good luck to you all that still play and hopefully I will rejoin those numbers.

Thank you HOD bringing to light what I had always suspected. I don't play pvp because of things I have heard, but even in PVE, it's become very obvious these Chinese hackers are taking over. I have been having a coldwar with them on my Gen2 server. Then last week, they straight up wiped our heavily played server to day 1. After couple of days we thought it was not going to be rolled back. I actively pillared all the prime spots that the box tribers had previously. That must have got Snail Games attention because, on the third day, our server got rolled back and we had our bases again. It's amazing what they are willing to do to us out of petty fights, even in a PVE server!

We got dev wiped this classic season because we tryed steal carcha tame on teas server and we was a big tribe :) We ask in enforcement for cheat proof. Instead proof we got banned from discord

Atlas from what we know, was supposed to be the oceanic ark DLC. But it was turned into its own games.

After Bungie split you know what happened? They were enslaved and were forced to implement anti consumer business practices which you saw constantly throughout Destiny and Destiny 2. Even once they gained their freedom it was too late. Their company has been changed forever and is unrecognisable to how it used to be. It's just a name now. I believe Snail Games had a part to play with how Atlas turned out. Snail Games were pushing for Ark clones of many the popular games. PixArk is one such example. Dark and Light is another. Atlas appeared during the success of Sea of Thieves and it would not surprise me if it was Snail Games idea to make Atlas in the first place.

@@sophieadams4155 Yes, but Wildcard has proven repeatedly that they detest micro-transactions and generally are against anti-consumer practices. So I can hope that Wildcard can get out from under Snail Games and make their games as good as they could have been.

I worry about the future of ARK2, not just because of it featuring Vin Diesel (I have nothing against him it's the whole throwing money at a celebrity instead of helping fund development I worry about), but also this makes me wonder if the reason they won't optimize the game and polish it is because Chinese companies are not exactly known for quality or polish. Why would they allow Wildcard to waste time and money going back trying to fix things that are broken or work poorly.

This would explain why cheaters rarely get banned

This is not a "don't play on "X" servers" situation, this is enough reason to boycott snail games and demand a publisher split. Ark's sequel is on its way and it was rumoured that it would have NFTs, if we combine that with the evidence showcase on this video these are extremely worrying news. If ark 1 is the mess that it is, how can we guarantee that snail games won't make it worse in ark 2? Not to mention that it is very possible that they might just monopolise the NFT market and steal the player's time and money. This is extremely serious and it should be brought to light as soon as possible.

I am in GT7 on Classic Season 6. We fight Tea every season. Before we would get banned and completely devwiped if we held any resistance against Tea. Now with enforcement help, we are able to provide streams and video evidence of our innocence against them. The community isn't letting them play. Everyone is rallying together to build fobs on their servers and are being backed by dev support. This exposure is obviously working and is getting the right attention.

Omg this was so bad last season. The server crashing was the worst. They make progress - no crash, we make progress, server crash no save.

God everything makes so much more sense now so many questions I've asked myself over the years of playing this game make so much sense now

A developer / publisher split would probably be next to impossible, also depends on how much Snail games ownes Wildcard, if they own them it' s basically over, if not it' s going to be a difficult and very rough ride as Snail games wouldn' t just let their cash cow go, especially since they are making a loss on all other titles they own Edit: Just looked on Wikipedia, pretty sure Snail games ownes Wildcard, Ark is doomed

I played with my best friends when this game first opened up in early access 2015. We thoroughly enjoyed it until some time the year after. We noticed a huge shift in favoring large, mega tribes that could just scorch earth other small tribes. Not an intended feature I'm sure, especially if you watch the early on trailers. Then came the server transfer features. Chinese mega clans come in, lock up caves (they were the only way at the time to get paste for end game content). They contiued to wipe out clans with this insane advantage of some how magically being armed within minutes of tranfer. Threw up mega structures over night, yet none of the hotspots were mined (there was a time where anklos weren't needed and you could just grab a person whhile they mine). It got toxically worse when the desert expansion came out. That's when we all threw in the towel. Even though we didn't own the DLC, people could just transfer over stone golems, wyverns, etc and wipe us all out. I love PvP. PvP is great, I've played a ton of Rust. But when the environment and mechanics favor those with money and influence...... well it's not a game anymore but just a nightmare. Still loved Ark and it's 2015-2016 experience, but Snail Games has shown that I'll stay clear of their products.

I wonder if this has something to do with how bad the mobile servers have been lately. I usually get booted offline and told "you have been disconnected from the server", which I know is not on my end. I see a lot, if not all rules being broken and nothing gets done about it. Snail has a reputation for allowing this sort of thing to happen. Survival Heroes is a prime example. Didn't know they own Ark, too. That's disheartening to hear.

Thanks for doing the the work on this. Knew Snail was a POS when they stated they were bringing BC and NFT's to Ark, but I didnt suspect that they were this much trash. I wont buy or play any game associated with them again.

Absolutely insane! Thank you for reporting this! Played for many years myself starting back to the pre-release days. Glad to see these cheaters exposed. Here's to hoping ARK 2 stands on it's own feet.... if not at least we have Star Citizen XD.
