Outstanding portable rig. I am getting a GTI to use with my Mirrorless camera rig, now I know I can upgrade to a great portable deepsky rig. Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing your set up! If I can ever afford to build out a system, your research will have me years of effort and so I really appreciate benefiting from all your work.

Awesome setup and incredible shot man!! - It's great to see your enthusiasm for this rig shining through in the video, I'm also a massive fan of ASIAIR and it's incredible ease of use yet powerful functionality! love it! Sorry I'm late to the party on this one dude - man I've had a busy few weeks haha! Clear skies 🙂
Looks great Trevor. I am looking forward to getting the Star Adventurer Gti and have one on order with Bintel in Sydney where I live. I have a couple of portable rigs as I am a pilot who travels frequently. The little one is an AZ-Gte in EQ mode with a 50ED refractor / ZWO 485. That works great and set up is five minutes. It is the one I use when moving frequently. In Perth Australia I have another set up I store in our hangar as we spend a lot of time in Perth. It is the 72ED / ZWO 183 Pro on an Ioptron Smart EQ Pro Plus. I take that one if away for two weeks or more. Sometime I set it up at the airport and the plane is my astro shack. Lots of snacks readily available. Love all your videos.

I bought mine from here also, New to astrophotography. Great mount I get 0.8 to 1.1 in tracking on average. Pin sharp stars at 416mm
Great video! This is a really portable telescope which can be easily used! And the cables exceptely the thing that it can use by itself it can be much easier for you to just look at it and relax! And the camera temperature was perfect! This is just perfect! Keep making more videos!
Incredible! This is exactly what I want to be able to do….minimal set up and easy to move! So happy I bough this, now if we could just get them!
Dude I have this setup but with the old AZ GTi in EQ mode. I love how well it works with your lightweight Raptor scope! Welcome to the ASIAIR club!!

@@liamgtav Do you have any issues with your mount/setup where it'll guide and track perfectly fine for 5-7 images and then your DEC goes crazy off? I usually then have to stop the plan and restart.
Thanks for this video. I did not realize what the small map in the corner was for. I was using Skysafari but it had difficulty connecting. A built in planetarium! Cool. I've been using all the other features of the software but I can't wait to try the Planetarium possibilities now. The great thing about ASIAir is they are always improving so even I cannot keep up. Keep up making astrophotography easier Trevor. You make excellent points in your videos.
I completely agree that the ASAIR (both the older Pro and now the Plus) were some of the most important upgrades to start taking good images and quit wasting time. The new image cross feature is awesome. I have been extremely pleased what they have been able to do with a reconfigured raspberri pi.
Awesome video. Finally in a position to buy my first star tracker. Looking forward to this being in stock.
I can't wait for availability of the gear vs.... "pre-order" or "reserve yours now"...

We haven't even got a price in the UK, let alone a release date. I managed to get a good deal on a slt127 and I'm debating just sinking my whole remaining budget in an ioptron at this point. Edit to add:. Slt127 is for visual. Astro will be a nice wide 200mm lens. Till I know what I'm doing.

@@progshark by grace of God nowhere in the UK had it even on websites till they made the announcement on KZread. But since then, not a peep. One thing about this hobby is that there is no 'right setup'. I had a plan with the sagti at its core for getting into astro, but if I need to rejig the plan, I'm cool with that. Bit more on the mount, bit less on the rest. Cool.
I loved the "pop" halo of 52 Cygni with the reveal. Subtle, nice touch with that music! I'm debating this mount or save up for the ZWO AM5.
Incredible Trevor…I have both pieces ordered and waiting for fulfillment! Be safe… Cheers..
I used plate solving for the first time the other night using Astroberry and Ekos on my Raspberry Pi. It was a revelation in ease of getting to the objects!

Looking forward to seeing more from this setup.
Trevor, your content is awesome!
Great shot! Love this target :) Nice video Trevor!
Congratulations Trevor great video
Great video. I got my Plus over a month ago and love it. No more dragging out a lap top. Dealing with crashing ascom phd2 or capture software etc. Ect. Astrophotography is not so much a chore and more fun. I just need a good ZWO camera and a focuser
Man, that setup is clean. Great image too dude.
I love my ASIAIR Plus and the rest of my rig. My first shot was the Veil Nebula as well
Thanks and good show/job!
Just getting back into imaging and put a new setup together using my old SW AZ/GTi mount in EQ mode and a SW 50ED Evogiude as my main scope (w/Starizona FF). Also a guide scope, ASIAIR Pro, ZWO EAF and EFW with a ASI533MC Pro camera.. And as a norm have had clouds after getting it setup. Thanks Trevor....
Excellent! Welcome to plate-solving! I typically refer to it as, "the Black Magic of computer-driven astronomy." You may want to consider WiFi instead of the USB cable for mount control. WiFi has terrible range, but can manage the foot or two from the computer to the mount. One less cable.
I got the magic cable (RJ something or other) this past November. WOW! It makes life so much better in combination with my ASIair, HEQ5 Pro mount, and iPad. Plate solving for polar alignment not only makes alignment possible when an object is blocking the view of Polaris, but it also eliminates awkwardness of viewing polaris through the polar scope, making mount adjustments, all while trying not to bump the tripod. Now I can set the tripod height based upon obtaining the best stability for the telescope and camera, and not whether I can bend my neck to peep through the polar scope. As you point out, ZWO has done a great job with their software to get the telesope on target. I've gone from typically needing about 30 minutes of set up time to start photographing to 10 minutes.

I'm new to this and I just purchased a similar rig using EQM-35 pro, SVbony telescope with ZWO camera, guide camera, and ASIAir. My challenge is that ASIAir is not able to plate solve. I need to figure out the focal length and FOV but I'm currently struggling with it. It states that FOV is out of range and giving me FOV ? x ? Any suggestions?
Mine is on order, and will be a game changer for staying light when on the go. I will most likely get a second AIR to with it.

It's awesome to use technology to find deep space objects but actually seeing them with your own eye makes you see space different😊😊

I bought a Jackery explorer 500 minus solar panel for now. Weighs 14 lbs. USB, 12V, 120 V AC pure sign wave. LOVE it! Even when AC is available. I put it on a tripod hammock to Add stability and weight. For more portability I might think a 240 or 300 might be better if you're hiking to darker skies.
I have a similar setup -- Radian Raptor 61, ZWO ASI183MC Pro, Svbony 50mm Guidescope, ZWO ASI120 Mini, Orion Altas II EQ-G, ASIAIR Pro. Looking at this, I love my EQ-G, but it's killing my portability. That Star Adventurer GTi looks so much more appealing for setup and weight. Giving serious thought to downsizing mount and upgrading guidescope as my next step.
@Astrobackyard - couple places you didn't mask your GPS co-ords (when showing telescope control screen) And yeah. Plate solving saves a ton of time. When doing plate solve to get scope position, you want to be doing it closer to the celestial equator than to the pole. My new rig (powered by APT) started complaining to me about that one time!
I use a laptop (sharpcap/stelarium) rather than asiair but even with my wide lens there's been couple of times where plate solving and framing from planetarium display was invaluable.
Great video, and glad to see you are using the Raptor, going to take mine out as well next week with a light-weight set up as well. Nice meeting you at AIC, and Ashley won't have to screen this comment from you :) you are still doing great work, and 99.9% of people appreciate you. BTW the music, fades, b-rolls, are better than ever...but where was Rudy?
I searched for the Whirlpool galaxy in my backyard for better part of 2 hours, getting 7 pictures before needing to flip my mount and having to start again. And now this exists. My god I need to start saving hard.
great photos
I can't believe you weren't plate solving, I haven aligned in a long time and I don't miss it.
Hey Trevor nice Video and congrats on the new move. Congrats on plate solving, once you start you can't go back. I completely understand your reasons for not though especially because swap out so much doing reviews and such - but the ASIAir knows what is connected so it does not matter now. I purchased a second one myself. I have one dedicated to the Edge800 system and the second AIR will be dedicated to the portable system - ASI2600MC and Canon EF 200mm USMII lens. - Cheers

Agreed. Plate solving was the biggest quality of life improvement i've had in all of my astro gear.
Enjoyed your post. You're a lucky man Trevor. I'm in waiting mode for the same mount you have in your post. A quick look around via Google confirms they are as rare as hens teeth. With any luck, maybe mid July, here's hoping for a positive outcome. (Oh, and the clouds! Clear skies at night seem to be but a memory.)
I started my AstroPhotography journey last fall with a star tracker, digital camera, and telephoto zoom lens. Polar alignment and subsequently finding my targets have certainly proven to be challenging ... BUT ... I like that I'm learning the night sky through the process of star hopping. Even though it's been time-consuming to do it this way, it has given me FAR more satisfaction (as a beginner) than if I had used technology to do everything for me. I definitely plan to "upgrade" down the road to a setup like this one, but not until that "I actually did that!" satisfaction wears off.

can't wait for my SA GTI to arrive :) Looking forward to finally having a night and light travel setup! I'm with you man, I'm a dinosaur. I need to check out this ASIair stuff.
Wow. What an image. What a set up. Did the move go well?
Absolutely loving your videos. They are so inspiring. I have a question, I have a Canon RF 600 F4, paired with the R5. Can I use the skywatcher star adventure with that set up?
This looks like a fantastic combination of products but any suggestions for a more affordable camera?
I need this
Awesome video, Trevor! I use the exact same configuration with my setup, only it's using an HEQ5 instead of the GTI. I select "EQMod Mount" and Baud 9600. I have the GTI on pre-order and was expecting I would use the same mount settings since I would be using the same "EQ Mod" cable. Did you try the "EQMod Mount" option and find that "SkyWatcher AZ-GTi/SynScan WiFi" was the only mount selection that worked?
Great video. Thank you for the wrap up. I have been using the ASIair Pro and it’s plate solving capability for almost two years now. My portable set-up is an 102mm/F7 Orion ED refractor with an ASI294MC on an iOptron AZM Pro mount. No guiding for 30s subs. No problem. It worked excellently even in conjunction with SkySafari 6. I was missing the camera framing and rotation. Now I used the SkyAtlas feature last night for the very first time. Sooooo convenient :-) The Sky Atlas interface and map is something to get used to, though. Not very detailed and not as easy to read as SkySafari and similar planetarium programs. You need to basically know what you are looking for in the ASIair Sky Atlas. But it adds so much more convenience, especially for image framing and camera rotation. Cannot got much easier and portable than that… so true
Another great video Trevor, Thanks. Have ordered a GTi. Question/comment: I assume you polar aligned, correct?
It looks like I just found my first astrophotography setup!
You should try the little ZWO 30mm f4 guide scopes for more portability. I easily guide my rig down to sub 0.5” with it.
Wow video!
Nice little rig. Interesting camera choice but it looks like its working well with that scope :)

So Damn Cool...
I've always had an interest in the vast universe but recently I don't know what finally sparked it but I got into books, videos and now this. I would love to start this as a hobby, what would be recommended on a 2500$ budget?
It looks really amazing… For a beginner with astrophotography, starting with a mirrorless or dslr camera, would you recommend the star adventurer 2i or the newer star adventurer gti? For the next step, is the 72 ED Skywatcher a good option? Thank you very much!
Seems like a really good mount for its size class and especially a very easy to use platform to increase data collection time cutting down that "dead" time. Do you have any numbers for guiding accuracy of the Star Adventurer GTI yet?
Great vid Trevor. How did you get hold of the GTi mount? they won't even be available here in Australia for another couple of months at least.
I recently sold my Skywatcher NEQ6 mount and Celestron SCT 8" scope along with the KQIK autoguider as it was too heavy and I hardly used the set up. But, this rig looks enticing. I am interested the battery to be used for a remote site.
Hi. Great video. Wondering how you attached the ASIAir to your tripod?
I love the beat in the background. Who made it?
oh my word. this is exactly what I need. why didn't I have notiifications turned on 9 months ago 🙂
Do you have any tips or tricks for getting your cameras into focus once you get them in the right position?
Nice hair line Trevor, and no greying beard 😉
Wonderful KZread!!! What is the screen that you are using that connects to the computer? It has Astrophotography software.
Interesting mount selection in the ASIAir. Others noted to use the EQMod Mount option, which is what i used with my SA GTI, but my Goto misses...badly, and doesn't want to plate solve. :(😢
Whats up Astro!
Hi can you make a video of the skywatcher 120 ED thank you.
amazing setup to be honest but my problem is its pretty expensive here but loved the vid
How well did it guide Trevor? A lot of folk use the AZGti in EQ mode but it has its limitations. This looks like an obvious upgrade while staying portable but it needs to be worth the cost. Would be interested to hear your early bird thoughts!
quick question, what exactly is the cable you mentioned? great video i'll try to capture the veil with my redcat
@ AstroBackyard, what’s your opinion about the black hole discovery and it being photographed? 🤷♂️
You should make a video on the SW Evostar 72ED. On paper its the perfect match for a setup like this.
Hubble telescope images on the internet killed astrophotography for me.Nice video Trevor!
What did you use to mount the Asiair to the tripod legs. I’m looking for the same setup. Great video but never showed a polar alignment with it. Still trying to learn this new system since I just started astrophotography since I’ve been visual observing for two years.

Good Morning, maybe my question is a bit silly. How actually track the celestial objects using SW GTi. I connected mount via SynScan to Stellarium, finished with 3 stars alignment,. Used GO-TO on Stellarium to point to object. What is a next with mount? Should I changed speed to 1x sideral? What is a next step before shooting?
Trevor, was that rj45 cable a usb on one end? I want to make sure I get the right one. I ordered the gti. Getting sick of lugging my cgem dx out in the yard all the time. Lol
Thanks for the video, it’s looks like the mount you used in this video is sky-watcher adventure GTI, but while setting up the asiair plus you chose AZ-GTI. Is this asiair plus supports adventure GTI?
Nice video but isn't this setup pushing the weight limits of the StarAdventurer GTI? In particular once you add filter wheel and focuser. Clear skies!
Great pictures. What would you recommend to an absolue beginner for deep sky photography or even capturing planets in terms of equipment.?

Greetings Trevor, I have a 10 year old ES ED80 (perfect condition used only for observation), same as you had with the crayford style focuser which comes in at 7.5lbs. I'm gonna take the plunge into EAA/AP with it and 'plan' to start out with an asi533mc-pro eventually finishing out with their AA+, 120mm mini, guider scope pkg. I recently picked up an ATR8 .8fr/ff (.4lbs) and just ordered the new ES 'hybrid' finder scope base for the guide scope. It seems to me a very nice combo for this scope, your opinion is welcome for other asi options under $1k. Do you think the GTi-Eq could realistically handle my setup figuring I'm at 8lbs without any camera gear? I have been seriously considering the ioptron GEM28 for G-n-G portibility. I have been following you a very long time and not surprised where you stand in the astro community. thx....
