I have “abandonment trauma” as well. My egotistical businessman father divorced my “stay at home” mother(back in the 70’s), and kicked her to the curb, knowing she had no money. I was 12, and never saw her again. Then she died in 1991. I’ve also had an abusive/neglectful stepmother. I don’t let the running away on his end, bother me. I think it was his “tactic” to see if I cared or chased him. I didn’t. I am NOT needy. If someone wants to leave, as the saying goes, “Don’t let the door hit you in the as*”! I understand how to handle abandonment trauma individuals now. I used to have the same issue. It was through someone showing me the way that I learned the right way.
