The movie is Stripes with Bill Murray. Since Jack is my name, it is very memorable; and I hear it a lot from certain friends. :) Thank you for this Hybrid tip - it has unlocked a mystery for me. My retirement gift to me was a new set of quality brand clubs. The set came with an option of hybrids (that are a little draw biased) which I never had previously. I hit them well during the fitting, yet occasionally on the course my slight draw turns into a mild to severe hook - getting me in trouble. Leaving me to scratch my head and say What the heck?! I just tried your similar tip for the Driver yesterday and it works wonderfully - I highly recommend people to try it. Now I know, to just lift the lead shoulder and handle a little to avoid the dreaded Hybrid HOOK. I believe it was Lee Trevino that said "You can talk to a Fade, but a Hook won't listen!" So true... :) Thanks from Tampa, for the great golf tips Coach Todd!

Great post here, thank you!
Excellent explanation and demonstration Todd on hitting the hybrid! I especially liked your suggestion on lining up the clubface to your line of flight. I now have taken the long irons out of my bag and inserted Taylor Made Burner 3 and 4 hybrids. They have both been "go to clubs" when shot called for one. Good Job Todd. Keep up the good work!

John, our pleasure. Let's keep this game simple...no need to overcomplicate it.
Nice job explaining why I’m hitting the ball to the right. I recently went to a 4 hybrid. Haven’t had good luck with a 7 wd. My 4 hybrid is my 150yd. Club. How can I find my correct flex. Unfortunately my 3&4 hybrids are stiff flex. Looking at the max hybrids, but unsure of correct flex.
Good stuff....Stripes is the movie (great one)...although I'm new to golf....last 3 years 👍
Stripes and your videos are a great tool for learning all things golf and that’s a fact Todd

Allan Patrick - 67 year old retired surgeon New Brunswick, Canada. Can you do a video on the "Swing Step Drill" as I don't really visualize it from reading about it. I don't really get what happens after transition; how the downswing starts and works. I just think of shifting weight to the lead foot, but am not clear on the method of getting from transition to impact.
Hi ihave your book which I am enjoying also short game system I get most of your teaching but do not get post impact follow through I am in uk

Wayne, have a great day. Be sure to let us know how it goes.
Leeeeee Harvey........you're a mad man!
If you noticed the perfect baby draw golf shot land at a straight line to his feet/hips (or stance). Technology his back is to the target not the club/golf ball. I often made the mistake by aiming the ball to the target and constantly missed left (right to left draw). Set up aiming your stance to the target not the ball and your golf swing draws the ball right ro left into the target. Obviously this only applies if you hit a baby draw consistently.
Stripes, Bill Murray. I’ve just recently taken my 3, 4, and 5 irons out of my bag and replaced with hybrids. Thanks for excellent video!

Hi there . Nice tip . And what about to find a midpoint to aim at??. Thanks from Buenos Aires , Argentina

Jorge, I like this idea. Finding a midpoint is great, strongly suggest this for putting.
That was from the movie "Stripes" starring Bill Murray and 'Ghost-Buster' buddy Harold Ramis! I remember watching on HBO during one of our many Iowa snow storms!! I hope these tips help me hit my hybrids better and more consistently. Thanks.

Hi Todd, I am a 77 year old, hi 80's golfer in Seattle and have been watching your lessons for awhile and want to ask you to address what is probably my greatest weakness. Whenever I am hitting a full shot with a longer iron or a fairway wood and my lie and feet are not flat, (uphill, downhill or side hill doesn't seem to make any difference ) I have trouble making good contact with the ball. Thanks for all your past help.

Todd, I am from Bel Air, MD and at 92, what you would call an experienced golfer. Love the game and play as often as possible. Would you give us a lesson on properly teeing up fairway woods, hybrids and irons. Sometime the hole requires this and I am not sure I am doing it optimally (i.e what is the correct tee height for each type of club). Your lessons have helped me greatly but this is one area I am not too sure what is correct.

Hello Mr. George, Your post caught my attention for several reasons: 1. Proper Tee Heights were a mystery to me as well. 2. Although we are "Snowbirds" now, after 45 years we still have a home in Bel Air, MD - just off Main Street by The Mill. 3. During the summer I play golf at Ruggles near APG with two friends that are 93 years young each. You guys are truly an inspiration! I hope to be playing this great game in my 90s. I just researched and found this video from Todd titled "How to Hit Tee Shots When Not Using Driver". It confirmed and answered my tee height questions. Hopefully this link will work: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dnh3mrygdZTNnJM.html Keep 'em in the short grass, Jack of Tampa, FL & Bel Air, MD

Two all time greats we hope 👊
Allan Patrick - 67 year old retired surgeon New Brunswick, Canada I just purchased the VLS video course and really enjoyed it. Thanks. Where does the power come in the swing? Transition drops the club slightly and then the weight ends up on the front foot but where is the power? Do the arms add power?
@USGOLFTVshow
Жыл бұрын
Good question, shifting of weight adds some power and the arms add speed. The key is getting the sequence correct.

I was always told to make sure your club face is square by holding it in your left hand and line it up before placing the right and on it. I am having a problem with pulling the ball with my hybrids.
@USGOLFTVshow
Жыл бұрын
Wayne, would say that is not bad advice. Lot's of ways to do it, find what works for YOU. This is the key...
@cornyboers7304
Жыл бұрын
That most likely means you then move the left shoulder out to much so you are effectively standing with a closed shoulder line and when you strike the ball the left shoulder has turned back to it's proper position which moves back to the left more and the club/clubhead moves in the same direction. Try holding the club next to your side and raise it up and then bring the trail hand across and add it to the grip anf THEN set the club behind the ball before you set your feet.
Good Tip, Thank you! That's a fact Jack = Bill Murry in Stripes!

Great line from an all time classic movie!
You need to look at your video before you post it Todd!! You start off with your feet aligned straight but when you take your stance, your feet are CLOSED to the path and to your club face. And that, for a hybrid, as far as I am concerned, is the CORRECT stance, considering the ball is slightly forward from centre. You said they were straight - they’re not!
