This next step is CRUCIAL for preventing issues 😬
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Since we've made the 1940 Ford have a flip front end that means the fenders need to be welded solid to the car. Except, we can't just weld the seam. We need to cut a strip of metal and use the shrinker/stretcher tool to shape it and then weld it to the car and the fender. This will prevent any cracking issues

Doug is a good loyal friend and worker , treat him good
Doug and Nate do NICE work, take care of good friends like them.
Chad gets a saying in his head and can’t quit…”always make sure u can see ur wire” if u know what I’m saying! Kinda like a preacher. Poor Jolene probably has to hear it all day everyday. Lol
For those of us who don’t know, I really appreciate Chad explaining what he’s going to do and why. This is the only show that is deliberate about teaching and improving the novice builder. Thank you Jolene and Chad.
Always enjoy the show.always positive and informative. Great job Jolene.
i think the alternator bracket is up side down im a chevy guy doesnt look right
I am not sure everyone appreciates the time you take to explain each step you execute to achieve a great end result. Very educational content and great camera and production work. Please continue with the great videos.

Yes true but the constant chat is eating into the build time, less chat more content please.
I thought it was a bad idea to blast body panels anymore due to the panel warping and expanding? Love these vids.
I'm really liking the way the firewall is taking shape. The tilt hood is a natural. Diggin' the Matchbox.
I've never seen an alternator mounted that way. Usually the arched bracket runs the top and on the other side with the other brackets bolted on the exhaust manifold. But do it your way. lol

I'm a Chevy guy and thought the same thing. But, this is a hot rod and you build it however it works the best. As long as the alternator and pulleys line up, no problem. Left side, right side, high or low, whatever works. Nate knows what he's doing.
Flex pipe, right in line with stick on chrome!
Thanks , This The Great Car Channel & Good Work & The Best ! Hello From Finland !
Hoping Fina is doing well, haven’t seen in the last few shows.

I doubt if I would want to work in an enclosed space with a smelly dog either, kicked out untill the smell goes.
Pretty sure that alternator bracket was made to go onto the drivers side of the engine. It looks like the bracket that bolts off of the drivers side exhaust manifold.
Flex pipe for temporary fix or for show, stuff doesn't last long
Really like how this build is progressing. I always doubt you Chad at the beginning, but then, after a few episodes, you bring it together, and it makes sense.
That man is one of the best. Love his work.
Happy Tuesday Bad Chad Nation good day.
Go for it Team Hiltz 👁 🐅 👌
I really love your show I really like how you explain things in the way you talk Chad keep up the good work and Jolene awesome job on the camera you have a good man there
Like how this is all progressing. So much good work.
A huge shout out to Jolene! Your production and camera work is the best. Yesterday, I watched a DIY video that replaced the mechanism on the slide on a motorhome. All that was done, was shot from the camera set up on a tripod. The critical work happened on the roof and to make matters worse the presenter's hands or body was blocking the view. With that said, you go out of your way the get a great view of what is happening and how it is being done. A shoutout to Chad for not blocking the view. Great team work! Jolene you rock!! Hi Fina.

Another fine informative video! Thank you again for sharing! There’s always something to learn new or mistakes that get explained and fixed!
Good work, Doug !
Yes, I love how you cut those front fenders ! And, that whole tilt-up front end opens the space where that nice engine is supposed to be for everyone to admire. But, much of the engine is tucked back under the cowel, harder to work on, and just not as accessible as it should be. And the whole far back seating position just destroys the esthetic potential of that suicide door interior, with some ugly extended steering linkage behind the "dash". Never mind other technical issues already commented on. I know Chad can do it, I just wish he wouldn't .
Is the interior done in the 50 yet.

I'm not sure if you know it exists but you shld buy some weld thru primer to prevent rust from inside out
Chad, what a good story this time, you have had a good weekend! Its good too see this project is now on rails!!!!

The point is to add a void so it can rust inside, or maybe to piss off the next person rebuilding it.
Are you going to weld the fender on the inside to keep any dirt,grit/sand from going into the the space/jernel you make with the strip of metal between the fender and the body in the south we are always watching for something that would hold moisture
as always work is in progress great stuff thanks guys QJ
We all watch ya brother keep doing what you do.. we might not all agree on how you do it.. but your doing it.. .do what makes you happy
Great video thank you.
Fine job on the hood and fenders. Nate is doing a great job on the mechanical side. Jolene always does a fabulous job with the camera.
I dont have a project car and probably never will but I sure enjoy and learn everyday
alternator brackets are upside down the top piece goes on the exhaust manifold and the slotted piece goes on top
As much as the fillet piece looks neat haven't you just added a void that will rust inside????
Thanks for showing how and what to use the shrinker stretcher.
The way you and Nathan did the flip front is the best way.

Doug is making a great effort welding up the hood of the 1940 Ford Hood so it will solidly move forward on the hinges that designed and built.
Greetings from Greenfield, Missouri (SW Missouri - Ozarks). Thanks for the build videos.

Looks great 👍 and Doug’s is doing a great job 👏 and Nate is bringing the Hudson to life but the hardest working person there is Jolene keeping up with everything great camera work, I would be tripping on everything in the floor, lol 😝
"Flex Pipe".....Once it is heated up from the exhaust it will rust, not very durable.....
I love that happy smile at the end of the video.
Your dream car is looking fantastic and strong. Nice to see Doug tasked with more technical jobs. It shows your confidence in him and his growth. The guys are a valuable addition to your shop. Nice job by all!
I enjoy seeing ya figure tough shit out, Chad !
Jolene Amazing camera work!
LOOKING GOOD!
Awesome, Thanks
What does rust prevention look like on the now hidden weld seam?
That’s good that you’re triangulating the structure, making that as strong as you are because I’m sure you’ll have a latch to hold the doghouse tight and you won’t have to worry about fatigue cracks. Excellent job!👍
the alternator is to high end the belt will slip on the water pump pulley causing it to slip and over heat not a enough belt contact .this alternator bracket mounts to the exhaust manifold with 2 threaded holes on the-top of it . look at 1957-1964 chevrolet 283 327 v8 exhaust manifolds.

Everything is coming together nicely, Chad , Jolene , Nate and Doug make a great team
I hope u go all the way with this its your best one yet road legal car show material for shure
A continuous gusset, very strong. And probably the best advice you could give a beginner welder 'watch the wire'. I was a joiner, for me it was 'watch the blade' 🤣👍
Great episode today. On a downer note about flexible tubing, from experience, when I (m64) would use it for quick muffler repairs when I was 20 to 25, I found it would rust really fast and fall apart, really fast, had better luck with cans, but they would rust, too. Maybe flexible tubing is better today, either way, I'll follow your choice, Chad.
Just curious.. I would have primed underneath that piece to prevent the other tag welds from rusting.. Maybe we just do it differently here in Denmark 🇩🇰? 17:08
Love you are making your hot wheels dream car!! Amazing job
Looking great 👍🏼
Good to see Doug learning to weld up a car, and gain some experience in the trade good for you doug Chad your a good teacher. And Jolene your awesome on the Camera. Nate your not too bad either. /cheers fellas and fellets. That's a flex tube for the exhaust that your using.

Tuesday Tuesday 😊...looking good Hiltz 👍 team
When and if you work on the engine, remove the whole front clip.
Joints being too ridged sometimes create cracks elsewhere. Good luck!
I like that effort. Are you going to put a sheet plate on the inside of the fender to mate up to hood?
Hi Jolene ,Chad, Nate,Doug, and Fina love watching from Bedford Qc.
Bare metal underneath, starting to rust as we watch. repaint required in fewer than two years...
Cool build!
Blubbbababababa Ababa aba asnannanananba. Don't worry about the mud, just pull out the cardboard and spray glue. Solves it all.
Looks great
Great work guys. 😎👍 Even Jolene who has to chase Chad who never sits still
All that sandblasting with that little mouth rag means having an oxygen tank and silicosis pretty soon.
I notice large trucks with tilt front ends leave 1/4 of the fenders on the truck and the rubber latches are mounted there at the intersection. I think your right about the whole front end going up would interfere with maintenance. See I'm a listener. You da man Bad Chad
😮Thanks to Team Hiltz for supplying great content every day!
hey chad are going box the frame behind the motor mount's great work so far
Great camera work
Turn the exhaust towards the front then drop down and run to the rear.
Don't forget to add a flat bar to the lip of the fender on the car. It will help the fender when you close the tilt front end match up.
Chad, I agree with you 100% that part of the hood would be in the way if you need to work on the car, but I also think it gives the car even more of a sexy style as far as custom goes. I think it makes the car far more appealing and I bet it will be talked about a great deal at the car shows for a long time to come

He can only show us what he doing at the moment, fabricating and welding are what needs to be done right now
On the Ford if you found a used set of exhaust headers and picked up or borrowed a tubing bender I know that the end result would be a really cool custom exhaust.
You could make some gasser style headers that exit through the cowl and drop down at a 45 degree angle...Or exit out through the fixed fender...
Hi and Gday from sunny Queensland , what happened to the ON AIR sign , did you sell it !!! cheers
You may want to think twice about running that flexible exhaust pipe on the edge of the running board, unless you are going to put a heat shield over it. The first time Jolene burns her pretty legs on that pipe, you will be taking it off! 🙂
Fantastic
Why is it Doug and Nate aren't on the show together anymore?
for the manifolds........would a set of shorty headers flipped side to side work? it would put the collectors to the front
Brilliance at work on this episode! What a team! ❤️
The master of his craft.
And those tight spots down near the bottom of the fender piece, you could use the pick end of your body hammer where it’s too tight to swing the head of the hammer.
