And turbo’s can make little more power at the high end when fully buld with the best turbo over the super chargers at least what I see in Forza games

You can tell how limited his knowledge really is when he goes out of the way to say that a roots blower has the rotors stacked. Ummm not generally.may be some applications like that but the mustangs and stuff he’s showing don’t get stacked rotors like 99%of roots blown cars. I have an Eaton 2300 trust me

I'm definitely loving this side of the content too, let's me see what I would be looking forward to with what I'd want for my charger, regardless of it being a V6, so I may go for that sequential turbocharger if that's the case on making it best for accelerating without that lag 😀

That extra hair dryer in my bathroom is starting to look like a good idea. Even better when I mount on the hood. Twin of course. Got to go with twin.

I use two milwaukee battery leaf blowers. Love the power and the 15 k dollar electric tax credit. I might have over filled out the tax paperwork.

You'll need a really long extension chord!
This is a really well done video, and packs a lot of info into a Scotty-standard approx. 10 minutes.
I learned literally so much off this 10 min video! In depth on how they work and the different types!!

Just tell him all your doing with either super charger or turbo is increasing the engines displacement by cramming more air in it!
I am increasingly excited watching your channel progress. I remember when you were showing people what dirty spark plugs look like. Now you are doing excellent content like this. I can’t wait to see what happens in the future. Please continue your path. You are on the right track.

Scotty you are without a doubt a much better mechanic than myself as a matter of fact i often look to your knowledge with certain things but im sure that you are aware of the gmh two stroke diesel engine which uses both turbo and supercharger i only mention this because I have found that its a pretty easy setup to help explain the way the turbo and supercharger work together with my full respect to you as a mechanic Cheers from Australia.

Fascinating. Thanks for the information. My car has a small Eaton Roots superchager which remains electrically declutched below the engine at 2000 rpm. It engages when above that threshold. I thought that was quite a clever design. Now I know more about how it works.

You didn’t mention that superchargers rob horsepower at high rpms. That’s the advantage of a turbo is that yes you have lag but you get higher horsepower as a result.

Parasitic loss from 30% to 70% depending on style. They also have much less potential. One step back, two steps forward. I'll take the two steps forward only with a turbo set up.

Contrary. You forget that with a supercharger, you don’t need higher RPM’s to reach the same power and torque result as with a high-revving turbocharged engine. This is coming from myself, a specialist in performance and forced induction who has extended experience with the use of both.

Most any car can easily go 100 k miles. Even my ford truck and my porsche and my bmw have gone a lot further than that. A fiat. Or vw or jeep or land rover. 100 k miles is not going to happen

If you could take any base model of any car over the years and redesign it to your ultimate car what would it be like? Example: Chassis, Engine, transmission, body style, etc...

That's a good idea for a video. He needs to do separate videos on different popular models explain the problems associated with the engine design versus how he thinks the engine should ideally be designed.
Scotty may you make more videos like this? I learned a lot and the video was easy to follow.
Thank you for your insightful information Scotty. Some one with the electric supercharger should make an appointment with you and take their vehicle over to you so you can review it. The s c model previa mid engine van came with a supercharger.
Supercharged Engines are very efficient when feathering the gas pedal, and provide great immediate boost when needed to get out of dangerous situations.

The e-supercharger option on Jaguar and Land Rover's lngenium 2.0 and 3.0 Inline engines makes a night and day transformation. From just off idle, all the way through the redline. To see the aftermarket come out with the 48 volt e-chargers is a game change on engines with no after market support. Imagine one of these on a motorcycle? ;)

@@mmars4032 VERY Big Deal. On older cars it will be a disaster as the Turbo will over boost the Engine and very shortly blow it. If you knew ANYTHING about efficient combustion and extracting more power from your engine you simply would not say this. Simply bolting any forced induction system onto your engine without changing the Fuel/Air ratio and max cylinder pressure will make the Engine VERY unreliable and WILL blow.

So well explained!!! If I'm putting an engine upgrade / mod, I'm not caring much about fuel. If I'm juicing up the engine I want the speed. How come so many supercharged engines blow??? Happens a lot.
Love my 2014 ZL1 supercharged LSA. SOOOO much fun to drive in the summer.

350 Vega's were something. had a friend that had one back in high-school , "The Suicide Machine". it was piece of junk(Vega) , usually broken, but when it ran, he could definitely would scare the chit out of you , while riding around.

I have a problem with the whole "turbo runs on free energy" thought. Turbos create a significant exhaust restriction, the engine has to do extra work to force the exhaust through the turbo's exhaust housing as can be seen if you measure the amount of exhaust backpressure before the turbo.

Agreed. Exhaust backpressure reduces volumetric efficiency. Smaller cost yes, but not "free.".

But superchargers create parasitic losses, so it really depends.

Yes, thank you! I’m glad someone on here brought up the issue with restricting exhaust. Turbochargers are also parasitic, just not as much as a supercharger.

The Brown capacitor has now been nano engineered. Resulting in lower current draw of .605giga watts and therefore speed reduction to 44mph for activation. Still waiting for a carbon fiber Delorean

I’m currently running the old Volkswagen 1.4 TSI twincharged engine… a marvel on paper but hamstrung by VW cutting corners in production. But, when it’s working properly… it’s a dream!
