This movie is bonkers. Gymnastics is the greatest martial art | So Bad It's Good #63

Who knew that the world's greatest spy would be a gymnast? No one kicks more ass than a guy who can't reach the top shelf of the refrigerator. Gymkata combines martial arts, gymnastics, tons of coke, and copious amounts of 80s to create a true gem of bad cinema.

Because of copyright claims on this video, I was editing it at 2 AM last night while suffering from covid. My apologies for any oddities that made it into the video because of my delirious state, but I wanted to make sure you had something to laugh at this morning. I appreciate all of you.

Just a side note, but Kurt Thomas died of a stroke in 2020 caused by a tear in an artery in his brain stem, he was 64 and 5.5ft.

Erin isn't the feminist we deserve, but she's the feminist we need.

I remember sneaking into the theater to see this when it came out. My 11 year old brain thought it was the coolest movie ever LMAO

You are wright, the movie is totaly bonkers, but making fun of Kurt Thomas' side horse moves is not fair. He literally invented those moves in the 80s. He was the very first doing them and they are still in use and even named after him. So be fair and give him at least the respect he deserves for his gymnastics achievements - and btw - I hate gymnastics, but this dude was awesome and missed his olympic gold medal just because Jimmy Carter ordered an US boykott of the 1980s games in Moscow.

Richard Norton is one of my all time favorite So Bad, It's Good actors. He has a treasure trove of bad movies worth a watch, including ones he's acting in along side with Jackie Chan, Chuck Norris, and Cynthia Rothrock.

IRL: In the 80's Ragan developed a Early Warning system to alert the US if the USSR launched a missle, it was called Star Wars. That's what the Star Wars was referring to. The plot of the movie was for our Hero to win the tournament & he gets a wish, & his wish was for Parmesan to allow the US to put an Early Warning system in their country.

Kurt Thomas (the gymkataist? Is that even a word?) passed away in 2020, 64 years old. I will always treasure Gymkata. It's up there with Miami Connection of so bad it's amazing greatness. And his stunts (which he did himself) are truly impressive.

I had to look him up, but apparently Kurt Thomas, the protagonist of this movie, was a serious competitor in Gymnastics. He won many gold medals and had a pommel horse routine that was named after him and was one of his signature moves. (As you could likely guess lol)

The girl is Tetchie Agbayani. She appeared in the German edition of Playboy July 1982. She was the hotness back in the 80s and she was in Emerald Forest as one of the natives. She's still actively appearing in TV talk shows and telenovelas in the Philippines to this day.

This is by far the best episode of SBIG to date, loved having all 4 of you guys on screen at once. R.I.P. Kurt Thomas(yeah, I know, ouch. Only 64.) and Erin was right, he was a gold medalist.

I loved it! Lmao this was awful in the best way! Having all 4 of you there with pam dying off screen was hysterical. And the system error moments when someone brain farts is comedic genius and my favorite part of every video! Keep this up! It's all GOLD!

There's still room in the front for one more chair! Pam will get in there one day! I love those falling dummies. I wish there was a way to grade '80s action movies based on the quantity or quality of dummies they threw off of cliffs or rooftops. Watching them hit the bottom is always comedy gold. It's even better when they hit something halfway down and go into a spin. I'd love it if they randomly threw one of those into a modern Marvel movie or something, when everything else was CG. The arrows suddenly thudding into people was also great, though. Even when you knew it was coming, like with the dad, it still happens so fast that it gets a big reaction. Great video! Glad you loved it as much as we do.

Started watching you guys 3 weeks ago on my brother's recommendation and been loving your videos since then. Thanks for bringing everyone together for this movie, it's a childhood favorite of mine. It starts a little slow but when the gymnastics fighting starts it turns into shit crazy fun.
