This movie got EVERYTHING right

Фильм және анимация

I am ashamed I did not watch this sooner as it is quickly in my top movies of all time. Clue (1985) based on the board game of the same name is an incredibly funny, tense, thrilling, dark comedy & murder mystery which juggled so many elements beautifully. I have not seen a modern murder mystery that topped this one. An easy must watch.

The three separate endings make Clue a wholly unique film in the murder mystery genre. Sure a lot of mysteries have a fake out ending followed by the “twist” (or true ending), but only Clue is like “here’s three stand alone endings, which all work, but which are also mutually exclusive to one another.” Theaters only showing one of the three endings is great on paper, but I get why theater audiences didn’t really like it. The pace of the movie feels like it was made with the intent of the final product having all three endings. Also, being shown various ways the murders could have happened is much more appropriate to the Clue board game; this movie went out of its way to be a good adaptation of the game, so the multiple endings as part of one viewing fits the “feel” of the movie a lot better. Also, imaging seeing this movie but entirely missing “Flames … flames, on the side of my face…” which only happens in ending C.

I was blown away that the three endings could all work, I was half expecting them to simply be some ridiculous big plan just for laughs. Having all 3 in one go is ideal for sure but I get your point as an audience member at the time of release. Fot how great this movie was, I'd happily find the time to visit the cinema again for another ending! Seeing all three back to back didn't feel like it was slapped on as a dvd release extra, it felt perfectly in line with the movie. You would be gutted, also the "I like woman" biggest reveal of the movie 😅

I have been involved in 2 separate theatrical performances of Clue- one where I was played Mrs. Peacock while in charge of the costumes/hair/makeup/sfx and the other where I was on the technical crew who built the set while assisting in the sound design and running the sound during performances. To put it lightly, Clue is DEAR to me. Thank you for bringing more appreciation to such a great movie that means a lot to me!

Oh wow, that is actually so cool! That must have been such a blast living out this movie. Especially getting to be so involved with the production and being a lead. 😁 And my pleasure, I hadn't intended to make a video on it. Not in a negative way but I just did not know what to expect but after just 10 minutes I knew this movie was special. I only hope I managed to do the movie justice for you Mrs Peacock 😁

@GubtodiReviews Aww, tysm! They were definitely the most fun I've had with shows. I do have photos of my first time with the production I'd be glad to send to you if you have instagram or something. I use them on resumes and I'm super proud of my work on it, haha.

@@emsydacat9707 probably stressful to organise everything but I cannot imagine a dull day on stage! That's kind of you to offer but that's okay. Not out of any disinterest though, just I keep my dms clear. I'd be putting them on resumes, lanyards, even badges by the sounds of the work you put into it 😁

I am a simple man. I get recommended a Gubtodi video,I watch a Gubtodi video. I have not seen the movie. Heck,I haven't even played the board game! This though? This sounds fun. Just the right amount of camp and silliness to take it to *so dumb that it's good* category. I NEED to see this now sometime soon. Thanks for that recommendation,Gubster

You've hit the nail on the head with that one, it is fun. Perfectly camp, silly and dumb together. BUT it is very clear even the dumb jokes are cleverly written if that makes sense? So it's smart dumb haha anyone can write terribly stupid jokes but in here, they come at you so quickly you can't keep up! It's my pleasure man! From what I know, I can tell this movie is right up your street so definitely sit down to it soon!

One of my favorites, I’m a huge fan of murder mystery. And watch murder mystery’s shows daily . Miss marple , sister boniface, vera, Agatha Christie movies . If you liked clue . I recommend those shoes . And seeing clue in theaters during flashback cinema. And being able to hear everything in surround sound .

Back in the day "The Butterfly Effect" with Ashton Kutcher was my absolute favourite movie. Today I know, the movie is quite dumb and I was just a little bit hot for Ashton (and I don't even find men that attractive), but I still remember the two alternative endings on the DVD. Spoiler!!! The original ending: Evan goes back in time, tells Kaleigh he hates her and she grows up with her mom instead of her pedo dad, is super happy and in the future he sees her on the street, looks at her, turns away the moment she looks at him and they never see each other again. First alternative ending: It happens the same, but in the future they look at the same time and big happy romance. Super stupid. Second alternative ending: Evan goes back in the time with a video of his own birth and as a fetus inside his mothers womb he strangles himself with his umbilical cord. That was even more stupid, but I still love it because I couldn't stop laughing. Best alternative ending of all time.
