Yes she met Nick and SHE took advantage of him, she's the one who manipulated him and used his illness to have him kill her mother. He was mentally ill and she took advantage. This isn't being "over protective" at all; Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy is pretty much as far from "over protective," as you can get. Parents with Munchausen are literally TORTURING and KILLING their children little by little. Some parents with Munchausen aren't discovered until AFTER they've killed their kids, or because they almost killed their kids (this case is unique because the victim killed her abuser, before her abuser could -slowly- finish killing her). Calling parents with Munchausen "over protective" is insulting to their victims. No parent who wants to "protect" their child (much less over "protect") tortures them with hundreds of unnecessary medical procedures and poisons them by over medicating them with drugs they don't need. That is NOT "protecting", that is ABUSE!

Let’s not blame Nic and call imply that he’s not a decent guy. Let’s not act like he and Vincent weren’t manipulated by Gypsy. The fact of the matter is that Gypsy’s mom couldn’t break the cycle… and it doesn’t look like Gypsy did much better. Nic was an unfortunate addition to the story and his MPD/DID made him an easy target. He’s now in jail for something that he didn’t have as much control In while Gypsy is now out. I can only hope she won’t continue the cycle

That's the thing with emotional and mental abuse it can leave some of the deepest scars. Someone that goes through so much, seeing no way out and a limited view of the world. More often than not will see it as their only way out. She did have a very fairy tale expectation of the world from the way her mother purposefully kept her naive of how the world works. I would imagine as long as she had therapy regularly, she would be able to come to terms and move past everything. She most likely won't ever stop going to therapy with how much there is but she can move on.

She didn’t know what a normal relationship was like. She was trapped for her entire childhood. Nic wanted to sa her mom and she said no so he sa her instead. He would talk about how he wanted to kill people because of his 500 year old vampire ego. He’s the one who killed her mom, he could’ve easily said no. She didn’t manipulate him. He manipulated her. He was unwell. If she met someone better things would have went different. That guy was weird and gross.

No. Gypsy said that he loved the idea of killing because of his "500 year old vampire" alter ego, that he was thrilled for it, he told her not to come into the bedroom or else he would kill her too, he wanted to SA the mother's corpse but Gypsy refused so he SA'd her instead. So many people are calling him a hero because this stupid show made him look "sympathetic". That's just dumb. "Special needs" or not, he does not get any sympathy from me.

Absolutely not. He deserves prison for life. True love is NOT a reason to kill. He was ruled mentally competent. He had the understanding of right from wrong. He knew killing her mother was murder. He actively helped plan it with Gypsy. Then he murdered her while she was sleeping. She deserved to be imprisoned for what she did to Gypsy not murdered.

@@Rania-vh7wg Because she didn’t actually commit the murder. She helped plan it, but she didn’t commit the act. She pled guilty to second degree murder and as a result got 10 years. She opted for a guilty plea rather than taking her chances at trial. Had she gone to trial she may have gotten off (not likely) or may have been punished much more severely. She got out early for good behavior. If she had done the stabbing herself, she would have been charged more severely.

BTW THIS IS A TRUE STORY, THE DAUGHTER GETS RELEASED THIS YEAR

Now Gypsy is out of prison. Hopefully she can live a normal life now.

I do believe Gypsy was mentally & physically abused, however she also had many opportunities to get help. I am glad that she is out and has a second chance. But it would be good to get counseling to address her trauma.

Whats crazy is everyone feels bad for Gypsy but not many have much to say about Nic? Like, yes Gypsy ended thie way due to the absolute horror her mother put her through, BUT she also really fucked over Nic because she took advantage of the fact that he was incredibly unstable mentally (especially because of his MPD) which made him easy to convince. Like she used their "love" to convince him to murder her mother- then turned around and pointed all the fingers at him over and over and the saddest part is, even when she did it in his face he STILL couldn't process the whole picture! He was still convinced they'd be happy together forever!

I mean, there’s not much to feel bad for. He expressed a desire to SA Gypsy’s mother’s dead body and was spotted watching adult film with his hand down his pants for around nine hours. He also talked about wanting to murder because of an alter ego he had. Let’s be honest, if he wasn’t arrested for the murder, he would’ve been arrested for something else sooner or later.

Gypsie may have been abused, but she in turn abused nick, used him to commit murder, lied about it, and thrn blames him. Again, this is sad for everyone but we gotta look at this from a perspective of truth wnd not feeling.

This made me emotional as it reminds me of the good times I had with my mom.

Makes me sad Nick is rotting behind bars and gypsy gets to live her best life doesn't sit right with me nick should be in a mental institution and then be watched and eventually free too that's fucked up 🤦🏽‍♀️

@@ajiprnk4821 off the top of my head I know that he wanted to rape DeeDee’s body, and the only reason he didn’t is because Gypsy offered herself up instead. Gypsy didn’t want to kill her mom or hurt her, she just didn’t see another way out of the situation. Nick 100% just wanted to kill and hurt someone. It’s been awhile since I’ve researched the case and I feel like I’m forgetting other facts, but either way I recommend you looking into the real case, tons of people have done videos on it.

Just realized that this was based off of Gypsy Rose. I feel bad that Gypsy had to go to these lengths to be free from her mother.

The psychological impact that this woman will go thru will be just as excruciating as her time in prison. She will never have a normal life, she never did and she never stood a chance. I’ve always been interested in her story but seeing this recap sealed the surreal feelings for me. I wish her well but she’s going to need a lot of support and help.

I think I get how Gypsie feels, being belittled because my parents also belittles me because they are scared but I understand but it's super annoying because it's like they don't trust me 😢

Some people doesnt deserved to be a mother and how the heck those doctors operated on her like what kind of doctors or surgeons are they. And how the heck her dad havent done anything about it, and im sure her dad knew that gypsy was born a healthy baby with no medical conditions.

Oh I saw this series and finished it. I must say it was pretty extreme of how she had a plot to kill her mom to be free from her abuse and even put Nick in on it. Killing is never the answer, calling for help is the better way. And faking her illness was pretty messed up just for attention.

She finally can, she was released from prison on the 28th of last month.

I heard she actually needed the feeding tube. What she did to Dede was wrong she planned the whole thing and manipulated someone else to do it for her

She's out of prison now

And now she's free

Such a sad life for gypsy،, her iq didnt have chance to develop becouse of social isolation and restricted control, bad choices was a result of that ...i really feel bad for her...she serve her time, i hope she have chance to becomes a better person, and forget...forgive...and move on

My Sister and her boyfriend watched this movie on New Year’s Day of 2022. I remember watching it with them and I had no idea what was going on but I liked it.

i just got done with the series and i gotta ask what the fuck, 3 episodes randonmly felt like child fucking porn, this series didnt really make me feel like gypsie was innocent what so ever lol, the neighbor was against gypsie even though she was abused lol the list goes on

Tbh the show really isn’t an accurate depiction. They changed things and the real Gypsy wasn’t involved at all and hates this show. I believe she’s making her own show to tell the true story but I could be wrong
