And Russian devs did it more than 10 years ago. _The tomorrow war_ on P.C had space physics and could go into planets atmospheres and continue the fight. Even fight land vehicles. It was ahead of its time.

SW Battlefront elite squadron had it, tbh I kinda prefer that since it's less graphically buggy, tho it does had transitions to hide the loading between ground and space but for the psp is was crazy

I actually cried when I saw the announcement trailer for DICE's Battlefront when the teaser dropped at E3. I thought "awesome! We are finally going to get Battlefield but Star Wars!" It's actually depressing what they did with that game and series. If they would have just modernized the originals...oh man...

For anyone who owns a PSP, buy Star Wars Elite Squadron. It’s what’s left of the Battlefront 3 development and has space to ground combat similar to this mod. The game is a lot more limited because of the hardware and the controls take some getting used to but it’s a really fun Battlefront game👍🏼

I remember following the updates for the eventual Battlefront 3 release religiously as a kid because Battlefront 2 was my favorite game, so I was devastated when it was canceled....Ea, Dice, and Aspyr have done nothing but let us down in the modern era. Thank God for the fans who made this mod 🙌

Absolutely, and if you really just want swbf 2 with better textures there are mods for that too, mods where the textures are actually improved from the base game PC version, with updated bump / normals and all.

@@BerserkerErik Yeah, went over to my brothers house to play the Battlefront Collection on his PS5 the first hour of the day it came out and within two hours my brother said to me "Well.... want to play the originals on LAN?" and I was like "Yep, sounds like a great idea!" LOL 😆! I just don't care for modern gaming anymore and I'm only 21 years-old so I know it's not an age-related thing. Games are just badly designed anymore or soulless Ubisoft-formula BS. Played Spider Man 2 recently, as well as Starfield and got tired of them within a few hours as well. The last game I truly enjoyed was Red Dead Redemption 2 and that came out on last gen consoles... like what in the hell? This entire generation has just been a disappointment, glad I play on PC and occasionally my PS4 (or my Wii, Resident Evil 4 Wii is dope as hell). This mod looks great, definitely installing it.

Thanx for this vid showcasing BF3 mod in all its glory compared to the Classic Collection Crap we jus got released. Love how the ship can go down from outer space into the planet's ground level like I seen on the upcoming SW: Outlaws game demo that can create such a transition. This is the game that the fans deserve...and had at our disposal for the fuckin longest 😅!

I never knew how to mod but I’ve always wanted to play this, so when I actually figured out how to get it to work, I was so ecstatic hence the tutorial at the end Lmao. I also really really want to play this with people online because I’ve seen it work before it has issues online but I’ve seen it work.

closest we got to this was Rogue Squadron(?) on the PSP where you could do both with a button press.

I'm still getting it to work, the 1.3 and 1.5r2 worked but when I installed the maps I couldn't launch them and then it just stopped so I'm having to reinstall, I'll get there, it was amazing while it lasted! I used to play EMPIRE OWNAGE server back in 2005, it was rolling CTF matches with TK turned off so you couldn't team kill and just go crazy, best games ever....MTFBWY! ;D

Crazy to think Battlefront 3 was technically done before it was cancelled.. it just needed debugging (from what ive read/heard)

Another mod worth looking into is Battles of the Clone Wars. (Only works for 2005 BF2 not Aspyrs mind you) and it works with Multiplayer (Steam) just need to have said mod to join the lobby/host. Has quite a bit of stuff to it (the entire top yellow section is strictly for said mod) and some maps will let you use S1-3 4-6 and 7 all on it. Some just S1-3 for instance, Yes Umbara has Friendly Fire...it hurts to play that

Look up Star Wars Battlefront Elite Squadron for PSP and that’s what all this gameplay is based off of. It has space to ground combat and the story that was meant for Battlefront 3

To be fair CD Projekt had redid the netcode for the last iteration of BF2 on Steam for the GOG release while I wouldn't be surprised if Aspyr just ported over the old Gamespy netcode & expected it to work, like what happened with Halo MCC lol.

Another thing you can do is hit browse local files on the original game in steam and that will also take you to your folder! I hope this helped!

Ngl, I'm not really an online guy, outside playing with friends, so as much as I dislike the fanmade stuff going uncredited, that's the worst of it, in my experience. The only thing that still bugs me are incredibly infrequent and non-game-breaking visual/audio issues, and one command post on Naboo that _sometimes_ spawns you on a balcony above and leaves you trapped. With a few patches, it'll be fine, and it's already worth picking up if you only have a Switch/PS4 like I do, and you think/know you'd enjoy the games That being said, I also want nothing more than for an official release to the original Battlefront 3 and for it to reignite the slimmest chance that future Battlefront titles will look as good as EA, and play as good as Pandemic.

Does it add native controller support without configuration and split screen?

I have a controller similar to a PS2 controller that I use with the PCSX2 emulator on my PC to play PS2 games. How can I configure this controller to use it instead of the keyboard? Thanks for your help! Can someone play alongside me in split-screen mode, similar to the PS2 version offline, or is this game limited to one player only and online only.

Just so you know, hosted servers on og battlefront on pc are rough. Lots of rubber banding and disconnecting when I played with a few of my friends. One of the reasons why I’m so disappointed with asspyr’s release

It's a lot better now, also got another patch in the works, hopefully it gets better and better!

I recommend the saga edition mod. That is my go to for galactic conquest

I find it so sad that a few modder's can produce such a better game than most AAA games nowadays. I say we give these guys a budget and let them run wild.

If you want to tweak and mod games in general - start saving for a PC ;-) Google "500$ PC build" and ignore any videos older that 2 years.

It looks like you have allot more mods than what the tutorial made? are all the other mods just things you picked? If they all play nice together maybe release a mod list? i'm sure we would love to see what you have running!

The servers on the original game seem to be better than on the classic collection so far. At some point it does come down to you, but I have yet to have a laggy mess game in the ogs.

There's a mod on moddb where it's basically a profile but the profile has all the controlls mapped out and if that's too much bf2 has its controller schemes remappable in the settings just do it one by one also the hud elements could probably be changed to the original by switching right folder wouldn't recommend it if your new to downloading mods onto bf2 its not like the steam workshop you actually have to go into folders, back stuff up and paste mods where they're supposed to go it can be annoying and confusing but it gets easier once you download a few mods and get some experience with it

@@SoaringZephyr Thank you for getting back to me. I used to play the hell out of this on the ps2. I always thought the HP system was kinda weird as a kid. But EA BF2, you just sorta feel like a SW extra when Heroes are present. Not in a good way. Where in 2004/2005, you can sorta deal with it due to class based nature and team work. (Maybe a hot take, but I still like the new game from 2017. I just didn't care for the ST content.) Final dumb question. Thoughts on Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy? My ideal Battlefront type game would mix Classic BF and JKJA. Maybe that is me being a bit sweaty. XD

Sadly I think it’s just the battles and maps. I do know there is someone on KZread actively re making the game from near scratch tho

How has no one made a game with seamless space to ground (and vice versa) big 2 team battles etc! We should have the technology to pull it off (as demonstrated by this mod. That by its nature is constrained by outdated tech) So if you built a game dedicated to this idea, it should work! We Need more games that do this (in the Battlefront, Battlefield, and Ravenfield, Genre) I don’t even care if it’s Star Wars (the idea isn’t exclusive) but if someone made this game (and had a single player option, like in the original battlefront 2) I’d buy it, and play it for years!

Awesome mod, i just think the HUD looks bad (it doesn't have the battlefront vibe imo).

What they did for elite squadron is what they've shouldve continue to build upon. Psp verison is ro me th superior minus the consoles and pc havethe og plus mods.

The star wars battlefront III legacy mod, feels weird to me, IDK what it is. Guys, try the saga edition MOD. it's even better than the OG

Yeah i rebought it but only because the only issue i was unable to overlook that WASNT patched is the aim acceleration on bf2 but ive found going into first person makes it.. bearable. Still cant snipe for shit but i dont play it online so anyone who tells me thats what they want it for i tell them to take a hard pass on it.

No. This version is around $10. It's the EA version that is $4.78 until the 21st of March.
