Same here. I stared collecting again back in 2017 when they had the 20th anniversary xy evolutions and generations set. Wish I would have bought more. Starting collecting again this year and will def not make the same mistake and actually get more this time around

My collection isn't about money or even an end goal(I don't want to have an end goal i want to keep collecting cos I love doing it) it's about passion and nostalgia. I love opening packs because if I narrow my self down to only caring about chase cards or gold cards then I miss the chance to appreciate the artworks on all the cards including commons.

Yeah my middle ground for that is getting a handful of packs, and if I don't pull the card I specifically want by then, then instead of spending loads more on even more packs in the hopes I get it, I just buy it separate. That way I get to pull a bunch of commons/uncommons from the set and enjoy the mystery of opening the packs but don't open way more than I should lol and if I pull other super cool rares from the set along the way then it's even more exciting

Every time I find myself wanting to go crazy and buy lots of packs, I come back and watch this.

I'm collecting every single squirtle card printed. So far I've got about 32 of them. My prize card is a psa 10 1st edition squirtle from team rocket.

Tangela has always been my favorite pokemon, I want to collect every single tangela card including promos and I agree with all of your points! I've been collecting for years now, and just recently I've decided to niche down, and it makes it that much more exciting getting the cards I want/need for my collection. Thank you for all you do!

I started getting back into collecting, so I’m deciding to make a Blastoise collection, as it’s my favorite Pokémon of all time, and as secondary focuses, getting cards for some of my other favorites, like Dragapult, Toxtricity, and others ! Thanks for continuing to inspire me :]

I don't really know what my current goal for a collection is, but I know I'll never own sealed product. The mystery of what is inside will eat me alive.

The beauty of sealed products are, you can have two packs, one with junk cards in it, one with the most valuable card in it (let’s say PSA 10 base set charizard,) and BOTH packs have the same exact value, because they’re sealed. I’ve just begun collecting again and I haven’t opened a single pack yet. I figured over time it will all be worth more than what I paid for it for sure. And I like sealed stuff personally.

I know this is an older video, but your opening really made me feel good about my collecting as I just started again this weekend. I'm starting an ArtistDex instead of trying to get everything (though that would be cool too). So I plan on purchasing promotional boxes instead of loose packs to get special cards that I know I don't have and then having fun with what comes in the box itself. I have 89 Illustrators in my current binder and my first major focus has been Saya Tsuruta as I love her style and its been so fun just hunting for her art in bulk bins at shops and looking forward to the next pull. Thanks for what you do as your content has always been enjoyable and you put so much back into communities.

My collection is not about the money it’s about the nostalgia. I grew up with the base set but fell out of the card collection and more into the games. With all these awesome moderne sets comming out I love to grab a booster box and get as many card out of a set as I can doing pack battles with my wife. I love holding on to one of each pack art from each set we open and I love the chase for all the new shines!

"Riches in the niches" is a great way to collect! There are a lot of collectors that only really collect based off value (nothing wrong with that), but I feel more comfortable just buying the stuff I like. A niche I got into is collecting the Misprint No Symbol version of Flareon from Jungle. I want to eventually have binders full of just that one card.

I’m super grateful for this video. I might not have a spreadsheet, but your videos have helped me realise what about Pokémon brings me the most joy and to focus on that, as long as it stays within my budget 😅 so I’m starting with vintage Pikachus and we’ll take it from there! Helps that I have base set, jungle, base 2 and gym heroes from when I was a kid! Thank you for literally revolutionising how I feel about my collection!!!

Really like these kind of videos where you offer some investment insight, show off some product and do some opening! Good mix! My collection is graded pikachu and Charizard as my "niche" and working on master sets of whatever sets i appreciate.

buy shadowless now before they go way up! they are FAR more rare than even the 1st eds, but for some reason they haven't increased dramatically in value. not sure why, but get those babies and hang on tight... they are just stating to inch up...

What he's saying is right & of course it feels *great* when you've saved up/finally found & managed to procure that certain card/item. _But.._ There's just *nothing* like that feeling you get when *pulling* that special card. Be it the chase card from a new set; a surprise that you haven't seen before but you love the look of; a playable/tactical monster, etc. It's a feeling that I just wouldn't trade for the safety of _only_ buying singles. That feeling takes me back to being 12, ripping base set & team rocket & the excitement & pure joy of when I pulled something interesting.

I just started getting back into pokemon cards. I don't have any from when I was young, but I lost my grandma last year and it was something that she supported when I was young and so I felt getting back into it would be nice. Also, my 4yr old is liking it. So, for now I'm just starting to find my faves.

I like weird promo sets like mcdonald's cards, and also like the very limited amount of Girafarig cards out there. I'm working on a complete unlimited base set now and don't have too much more to go. I'll likely complete Jungle and Fossil sometime soon too.

I love collecting the old cards from specifically 4 card sets: Fossil, Team Rocket, and Gym challenge or Heroes. English and Japanese doesn't matter! That's my Niche :)

I started collecting again and while I enjoy opening packs, I also know it's pretty impossible to complete a master set for any of the new sets just from buying booster boxes. I thought about what would give me some satisfactions to collect on the side, and decided to start collecting all the cards by the illustrators Tomokazu Komiya and Asako Ito. That way at least my binder feels like a mini art exhibit.

My daughter got me into Pokémon a year ago and we mostly go based on our favourite Pokémon when collecting, hers being scorbunny and the eeveelutions and mine being the squirtle evolution line.

I've actually had some insane luck with rebel clash recently, I never liked the set when it initially dropped but now that I've had a little bit of time I've grown to appreciate it

I've always kind of had this idea of collecting certain cards, especially the venusaur evolution cards, but I also find a ton of joy in opening the packs and the suspense that comes with it

Just came back to Pokemon 2 months ago and I'm amazed at how it's taken off. Being able to have this much fun now, being an adult is awesome. I am collecting mainly full art cards with GX thrown in. The art work and the foils really stand out, Pokemon has really come a long way.

I'm super into electric type Pokémon, but more specifically my favorites are: Magnemite, Magneton, Magnezone. Voltorb, Electrode Pikachu, Raichu So I focus on collecting those Pokémon more than anything. Also, this was a really well made video! I'm glad I found this video. You've encouraged me to get back into collecting pokemon cards. I've decided to try and collect the 3 legendary dogs. Entei is my favourite, Raikou and Suicune.

I'm still new to collecting, so I have yet to find my niche. But I think I am starting to figure it out. It brings me joy when I find vintage cards in a mystery pack, and give them a place where they can stand the test of time for just a bit longer. Pulling cards from the Luxray, Floatzel, Tinkaton, Banette and Lopunny lines also make me happy, since they are some of my favorite pokemons. And I also enjoy cards with artwork I find beautiful. So, my niche is still very broad.

I would say I love collecting anything dragonite. Thank you for being so helpful to the community. It’s amazing what you give to all of us. Your awesome

I've been getting really into your videos recently. I love all of them so far. I used to collect just everything I got from packs. I had so many in binders, but I realized I didn't need them all. Since then I only collect Gen 1 or Kanto Pokemon cards, and Eevee and evolutions. I keep some of the full arts I pull that don't match when I like the art. I trying to sell my bulk on marketplace specifically for kids who want to play or start collecting because I live in a small town. The only place you can find cards here is GameStop, and they barely have any. Thanks for your advice!

That's some great advice. For some reason I love collecting dragon Pokemon like Latios, Rayquaza, etc. I remember specifically Latios popping in my gameboy at the airport one time and that was a highlight for my childhood for years to come.

It would be cool if you could make this some type of document that we can all keep up to date with and keep coming back and checking to see how you've far u have gotten with your collection
