I have the xgimi mogo pro. It is bright and sharp for a portable. As a projector it is ok. The colors look better than many portable single chip dlp machines using a color wheel. Space ( Lack of space ) was a major consideration for me. I tried a number of portables. I thnk there are very real limitations that will not allow them to deliver dedicated projector home theater performance. I bought a $250 dollar full size LCD projector and projected to its minimum size of 50" . It has been more satisfying than any of the portables. All of them costing more. Some costing more than twice as much. Theres a sense of effortlessness, warmth and color accuracy that the cheap $250 full size projector delivered on my 50" screen that portables can't approach because of the said limitations. The only portable dlp projector I have that was engineered with fewer ( on average ) mis-steps in colors is the Aaxa M6. But it doesn't use a color wheel. It makes use of 3 dedicated color engines.

Brilliant review of that product! Full in depth! Definitely considering this one now! I will look forward to the next video! I've just subscribed!!

Great review! I am looking to project 100” and and don’t want those rasters. I was looking at the mogo series vs H2 which has the bigger 0.47” dmd so should handle larger projections better hopefully. I want Android and decent speakers built in.. something all in one. Thanks H2 it is :)

Get a small Pure sine wave inverter and you can charge it from your 12v car charger. Don't use a modified inverter. I hope this helps.

I received a reply to this via email. They, XGIMI, stated that if an external speaker/earbuds are connected then the internal speaker will be disable. Thus, only the external audio output would play the sound.

For tracing sketches an ultra short throw projector would be optimal, but they cost quite a lot. Depending on your budget it should work with a std throw projector as well. Depending on the budget and the amount of light present in the room one might better suited than another.

Very underrated channel! One question: Let's say I got an MP4 file on my MacBook, how do I get that played? Only via USB stick or HDMI cable (i.e. not wireless)?

Thanks! The M2e supports wireless display mirroring, so you can cast wireless that way. I'm not sure if the desync issue is prevelant when casting from an Apple device, but you can always play via a USB stick, desperate ChromeCast or USB-C/HDMI cable.

Is it possible to send content to it through chromecast without an actual wifi network? Lets say you go somewhere without any internet access and hang up a sheet and use this projector, can you stream content to it? Regular chromecast doesn't work in this scenario in my experience

Good question! It's actually possible with a regular Chromecast as long as it's updated to the latest firmware. I'm not sure about devices with built-in Chromecasts or Android / Google TV. I'll check that out when I'll get to review another Android TV enabled projector.

This one is currently rated best at wirecutters too 🤔

Hi Justin, very good review. Thank you. I've been disappointed with the bright. Of course you can't expect the same performance from this one than you can from dumb, not portable, classic proyectors. Do you think Xgimi Halo provides the ability of bigger "screen size" or just brighter? I'm looking for a projector with Android TV with the same specs than Xgimi H2 (even if it is not fully portable because no battery), but I think there isn't any yet, right?

I have tested the Halo and I can tell you the extra brightness and slightly larger DMD do make a difference, you won't be able to find a brighter portable projector with Android TV than that. You can definitely project an image of 115" more easily with the Halo as compared to the MoGo Pro, but when you go smaller than that, you won't have to "stretch out" the available light as much. Resulting in a more vivid image. The tradeoff with these portable units is that the DMD's are quite a bit smaller resulting in less defined sharpness and contrast. They're not made as a replacement for regular home cinema projectors. As for the specs of the H2, the H3 was set to launch the first half of 2020. I think it has been delayed, and who knows, maybe that one will also have Android TV ;)

Unfortunately, you can't use Chromecast with the Netflix app. You don't get to choose the MoGo Pro as a casting device. The only way I know to circumvent those limitations is by sideloading the mobile version of Android.

Hi, just recently bought mogo pro projector. I am trying to connect mogo to external sound bar via bluetooth, but it is not able to detect the sound bar. Did you try connect to any external sound bar via Bluetooth? Is it working? Not sure why it is not able to detect in my case?

Do you have the latest firmware installed? It didn't come with the firmware that enables Bluetooth out straight out of the box.

I haven't gotten the chance to try out any of Ankers projectors but looking at the specs I think it's a solid projector. Only issues I have is that the Mars II Pro focusses more on brightness as opposed to resolution. I'd appreciate a FHD resolution more, but that's for my usage and preference. It all depends on the viewing distance, size, and ambient light. For me, I'd still darken my room as much as possible with a portable projector.

Hi there! I haven't tested the Nebula Capsule 2 but depending on where you're located they're both priced roughly the same. The Capsule has a lower resolution and a lower brightness though, so I'd go for the XGIMI MoGo Pro!

@@JustinFeldhouse Hi Justin - does the manual four-corner correction still work when you've got HDMI plugged in? This is a big downfall of the Philips PicoPix Max, so I'm hoping that it works for the MoGo Pro.

This projector gets the job done pretty well. kzread.infoUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it! XGIMI's own tripod is great for most situations, but for the video I had it mounted on a Manfrotto 143 Magic Arm kit.

Returned Nebula Capsule 2 because it 720p with 200 lumens but loved it small size, 10watts speaker and especially vertical and horizontal autofocus and faster than XGIMI.

MoGo Pro. Higher resolution, higher brightess, Android TV 9.0. But these are specs that are valuable to me. If you don't need the brightness, don't use the Android TV ecosystem and don't mind the lower resolution, sure, the Anker Apollo could be great and more kind to your wallet ;)

Based on specs and the similar price of the Nebula Capsule 2 you're getting roughly the same experience albeit with a lower resolution and a lower brightness as compared to the MoGo Pro.

Unfortunately, like a lot of other Android powered (even Android TV) projectors, it won't allow Netflix to be cast.

I have connected it to a USB-stick to install apps and watch videos. I see no reason why an external HDD shouldn't work (aside from the format used).

How easy is it to project onto the ceiling with this projector, wouldn't the height and weight of it cause it to tip when using with a smaller tripod?

Depending on the tripod, it could tip easily. I used a gorillapod to get it to work.

Only thing missing is USB-C charging. For a portable projector at this price point, it really is a big miss.

So do you know an android tv projector with better brightness or image quality? I like the look of it but I'm gonna put it on shelve and not look at it after that and it gonna stay there forever I guess.

Thanks for watching, I appreciate it! Unfortunately there aren't any Android TV projectors aside from those from Xiaomi, XGIMI and Anker that I know of. I do believe the XGIMI Halo is the brightest at the moment with 800 ANSI lumens. Slowly brands like Optoma, BenQ, Epson and other big name brands are releasing projectors with a custom Android version. In time some will hopefully release an Android TV version. Otherwise, the upcoming Chromecast 'Sabrina' with Android TV might be an easy way to add the same functionality to any projector.

I went to a store today and saw it in action. I was impressed by the size, sound an UI. In fact... The size of the screen when I was setting it to 3 meters from the wall was a bit much. I asked this at the guy who was selling it and he didn't know but... Is there a setting to resize it a (tiny) bit smaller?

It's barely noticeable actually. Of course it makes a little noise, but you'll forget all about it when playing a video. And that's not the case with a projector I'm testing out now😅

Haven't tested the Nebula Mars 2, but since it's the same type of product and it has lower specs than the MoGo Pro, I'd go for the XGIMI!

You can connect it via Bluetooth to you phone to use the XGIMI as a bluetooth speaker. When it comes to Netflix, you can sideload the Android mobile version on the projector and connect to a hotspot for on the go use!

These days you can throw a Amazon fire tv stick to anything and don't have to worry about operating system of the projector. It matters the most the lumens and the resolution, right? With projectors with build in Android TV you pay more for that unfortunately.

As far as mobile projectors go, I still believe this projector offers a lot for the price. The brightness is fairly low and the chip is pretty small compared to dedicated multimedia projectors like an Optoma HD146X that offer a much better image. But for a portable option this still is a great choice. My review wasn't sponsored or paid. Even had to ask XGIMI to even mention my name in the video that they re-uploaded to their channel... 😅
