Hello there!
Today I am trying out Ryans World Mystery Art Egg Series 2 which is a mystery art supplies product. Unfortunately I felt this egg filled with art stuff was...lacking. The supplies to me are pretty bad and it's missing a ton of stuff it should have. I've opened a lot of art boxes but this art egg takes the biscuit, I just feel it needs more than it actually has or at least be priced lower. My personal opinion of course!
All opinions are my own and not a reflection of Ryan or his team, I am not affiliated with them in any way!

My oldest has asked me if she can have a KZread channel for years thanks to Ryan. I told her to come up with video ideas, clean a space to film, and come up with a concept for the background. She stopped asking lol. If she wants one so bad, she has to do the work, I’m not doing it for her like Ryan’s parents do.

He likes do to little plays with his toys, and he's 11 now, so he's getting to the age where he's going to start doing things whether I want him to or not. He quickly learned that it's a LOT of work, that with the equipment we have (cell phones) that it doesn't look the way he wants, and that not everyone gets what story he's trying to tell, so he needs to work on that. If I bought that for a kid and found out they'd put a free Applebee's or Chili's kid's menu crayon set in it, I'd return it after leaving a nasty review. What a rip off. When you spend money on a product, you have every right to be mean. When that product is endorsed by a popular figure, you have every right to criticize the person or people (his parents, ahem) who signed off on the deal. It's okay. If they get upset over it, too bad. Maybe they shouldn't be putting out and endorsing a bad product.

Thats the problem these days, people are more concerned with feelings so they’ll deal with crap quality OR get pulled insimply because of a name. No offense to you Chloe!! Def a hard one to judge when a kid is involved but yea… maybe this will put a fire under the parents bottoms to do better. ❤️

Guess its a lesson to do your research. Dont buy something from a name or figure unless you can be sure. Like buying any product that has some popular Kid KZreadr name to it is always a risk. Mostly a miss. Especially anything art or craft related. However if I am buying something from a youtube figure like Jazza or SaltyCrafter, I can trust they are gonna put out good products. If you want something even better. Buy all the supplies seperately, make a cute little box for them and give that as a gift! Or you can just get the big art pack from Crayola.

@Blue Aqua ....this is a $20 art set that reuses pictures for you to color on a thin strip of paper. They give you a fee crayons that arent bad as well as markers that dry out too quickly or already almost dried out when you use em for the first time. They include things that dont even make sense like erasers when you cant erase stuff, stencils you cant really use on the terrible little paper rectangles, and stickers which those I can forgive. Its another big company with billions making you pay for something that you could buy all the supplies for cheaper.

What I personally hate most about the Ryan products is that they are exploiting a child to rip off other children. My niece had a tantrum in a toy store once because she wanted a Ryan egg just because she had seen him on KZread. I absolutely can’t stand how much companies use celebrities (even little kid stars) to knowingly sell garbage to children and young people.

I agree with feeling weird about kids on KZread. They can't consent. If you need to be 13 to make an account, you should have to be 13 to feature in a channel. Right? I got my kid a 150 Crayola crayon box that came in a plastic container for around $15. It lasted years. My kid recently outgrew it, so I washed it, replaced the used up crayons with brand new ones from a brand new box, and gave it to my niece. I’m sure it’ll last her until she’s a teenager too. That’s a much better deal considering how long it’s lasted. As a kid, I would have been happier with a big box of Crayola crayons and a good quality coloring book than a poor quality “art kit” with dried out markers and Rose Art quality crayons.

As a little kid when my markers were dried out, I'd just open them from the back and take out the plastic wrapped cottony thingy with ink, and dip one end in the water. The water then pushes the ink to the other end. When it's ready you just take it out of the water and put back inside the marker (with the non-dipped end towards the nib). You just had to watch them and take them out of the water as soon as the other end started getting damp (its colour would get darker). That's how I used them till the very last drop of ink :)

Here’s the thing, I think it’s actually incredibly fair to judge these types of products harshly. This goes back to some of the kits Jackie reviewed from Guava juice & Karina Garcia - these products really have nothing to do with the creators. These products are from one of those “customize-able companies” who produce bad products and content creators use these bad quality products to rip people off. Do I think Guava, Ryan & Katrina have some input - yes, but generally it’s been shown they don’t follow up to make sure these kits are worth the money. You more than proved your point trying out the crayola kit for a 2$ difference - you could argue it’s crayola and they just have better products but both Chloe & Jackie have tested bad crayola kits, so it is very possible for them to have bad products.

If I was being generous, I'd say the total value would be about $4 or $5 with the egg. I agree that it’s not worth the $20 based off of this. I think it’s being bought because it’s his, some kids care about quality but most kids want it because it’s their favorite youtuber. I was one of those kids who would be using art supplies and have favorite brands because of how they worked, I would dig through the crayon box because parents just threw them all together and not use certain brands because they were junk. Thank you for reviewing this art egg! It is such a strange idea to package art supplies inside an egg without a concept. Maybe if there were also a stuffed animal inside that egg, that hatches and instantly loves to draw from the beginning of it's life since it hatches together with it's art supplies. That would make more sense to me. There would be enough space for it on the empty side of the eggshell as well. I think, that would make the price a bit more adequate. But without that, this just confuses me. Also the coloring strip with the repeating pattern and the dried out pens would have make me sad as a child. I hope the team behind this product is going to improve it's concept! Great video, Chloe! :)

So the slime makes more sense to me than just art supplies inside an egg😂 But I think it would indeed be more interesting to have white slime with a (for example: crackle) yolk filling in yellow inside an egg packaging! I like that idea somehow. Maybe something like that exists already?😆

I hate companies that create things that will just be thrown out. I think you can make fun packaging and still have something you can reuse later. So much for "you get what you pay for." Like you said, in this case, you're paying for the brand because the art supplies are cheap dollar store quality. I would not buy that. I don't feel that you were dissing on the kid at all. Whoever put this egg together could have done better by choosing better quality supplies. It's a real letdown to spend $20 for a brand only to get a few basically useless markers and crayons. I know exactly what you mean about those cheapie felt tip pens. Getting so many "markers" that were dried out was super frustrating and made me hate doing art when I was a kid. Art should be a good experience for anyone who tries it and, in my opinion, manufacturers who produce art supplies, even if they're geared toward kids, should do better. I know there's a tradeoff and you're going to spend more for quality, but it's just such a waste to keep producing.. well, more waste. Imagine how many cheap plastic markers end up in landfills. FYI: Crayola has a program where you can send them your old markers and they will recycle them. More companies should be utilizing programs like this.

Really, thank you for showing how many alternatives there are for cheaper! That aside, I really don't agree with entitled attitude that is seeped into the way that his channel is run. The poor kid is spoiled rotten by THE MOST annoying, patronising parents and the consumerism it endorses makes my skin crawl. Whether it's the parents or, more likely, the team of managers pushing for releases while the brand is hot, this is just not the best way to handle things.

If there are people who go the extra mile to interpret "this is not a good product" as "the creator who made this is a bad person," I mean, that's kind of on them. I've purchased merch from different creators I like and some of the stuff has been great quality, and there have been some real duds. Sometimes influences will partner with brands not knowing the quality they're in for and, unless you can prove they were aware beforehand, it would be unfair to say they are the ones at fault. At the end of the day, I think it's more important to be fair, yet honest about what the product is; people should be aware of what they're getting. For the Ryan’s World kit to not even include a pad of paper, pencils or an activity book-just a testament to the low quality of manufacture. Tiny kids will have a beast of a time chasing around a curly strip of paper in order to hold it flat and color on it. And the Crayola kit even came with a cute briefcase to tote around! The egg makes no sense whatsoever. There are brands, and knock-off brands, that are still worth their value. And honestly kids are unlikely to remember "oh yeah it was from this youtuber I liked!" when they're done with their drawings/art -- what will matter more is the fun they had or not; so paying extra for less just to have a brand name is silly and not economically efficient for those of us on tight budgets. I bought a set of five good quality kids crayons- they were used more than huge packages of crayola. Even when they were all mixed in, the kids would dig for those crayons. Give up on the cheap stuff and buy way less, better quality, and the kids will actually USE them.

Like one of those sets with colored pencils, oil pastels, crayons, etc. You'd get the same questionable quality (actually, some of those sets are pretty decent), but with more stuff, and with a case you could ACTUALLY carry around and take places. This is literally just a cash grab. They know that 1.) Kids that are obsessed with Ryan's World will demand it, and 2.) Parents/grandparents/people buying gifts for little kids who don't know what to get but just in general know the kid likes Ryan's World will get this just because it has Ryan's World on it. I HATE crap like this because it takes advantage of kids and parents who don't know any better.

Dried markers that still have ink in them can be reactivated by pulling out the tip and injecting a few drops of water (using a blunt syringe) into the barrel. Leave sitting horizontally for a couple of hours. The same can be done with most alcohol markers. Instead of water, inject a few drops of rubbing alcohol into the barrel. Certainly works for Sharpies and others where it's easy to remove the nib.

Sadly, and typically, you are paying for the brand name, then the packaging. The contents are practially inconsequential, but are so often the cheapest products they can find. It's designed for kids, and many adults think that kids don't care about quality items (which, to be fair, many don't, but some do, and their parents certainly should), so they just put cheap junk in there and expect the kids to be happy with it. Making money is more important than creating a quality product. I've seen other reviews of Ryan's crafts and most are just garbage. I'm also not surprised the markers are dried out. I find that many of those colouring kits have crappy markers that are so dry they are pretty much unusable.
