Congratulations to ME, for watching 250 episodes! It was a lot of hard work sitting here and watching them all over the years but I truly loved every one of them! Thank you Greg for ALL of your very hard work creating these videos for all of us to enjoy. We enjoy the video. We don't see asking permissions, we don't see packing and unpacking for these digs, we don't see filling up the gas tank and driving to all of these beautiful places, we don't see soaking and cleaning the finds, we don't see the pouch full of trash you collect before finding an item to record, we don't see the hours spent editing videos, the hours poring through old pictures to add to the videos, and the hours of violin practice it took you to make the Finding America theme song. Thank you also to Chris and a few other guests for being Greg's friend, adding your humor and passion for the hobby. I have Garrett equipment Chris, so I did learn a few little tricks from you. Thank you to ALL of the sponsors that support this channel. Wholesome channels that the entire family can watch here on KZread are far and few between, so we all appreciate the help this great channel Finding America receives from sponsorship. Our paths will cross one day Greg, I'm certain of it. On soft, moist dirt, with large coils, and pouches full of coins and relics.

When I was a kid (I'm 78 now) I got to visit my grand parents in Nashville TN. They had an old buggy house in the back yard. My grandmother told me that there were some boxes that contained thing that my 3 uncles collected when they were kids. One contained birds egge all labled. another contained civil war things ,broken sword, parts of a pistol and lots of mini balls, the third box contain much of the same things. They are all dead now of course. I of xourse wish I could still go visit them again. I did ask one of them were they found the civil was stuff and I was told it was down by the creek which was maybe 1/4 mile down the road. Later in life, I collect Native American artafacts. Love your videos

@@FindingAmerica I've been enjoying your videos for a long time now, but 250 videos wow I had no idea. It does make sense by how well your videos are put together. I replied on this gentleman's comment because I wanted to add a few more hats that you wear and the one to me I find the the most important one is being a treasure hunter. And not exactly a traditional treasure hunter who's in it for the silver and gold but one who sees everything from the past as a treasure trove of our past life style which in a way gives you a few more being a teacher and historian which can go hand in hand which then leads towards the archeologist who goes back in time as far as each site your on at the time you're not targeting one specific genre i.e. colonial era, Native American etc. You take it up to the post WWII time when we still made little metal toys for cracker jack and match boxes. Treasure hunting and collecting via metal detecting is like beauty it's individual in the eye of the beholder of what we treasure. How you don't have 100k subscribers beats me. KZread needs to change algorithms or something because on other devices I have under another name I see so many new horrible detecting videos get suggested, well I shouldn't say horrible and judge anyone's videos when I don't even make any "yet" myself but generic videos that quite often show or find very little content that I'm interested in and the crazy thing is that everything pre '60's interests me.but I don't ever get them suggesting your videos. It never dawned on me to subscribe to you under those accounts to build your followers which I will do but why I don't see yours pop up. One thing I always do is that I let the commercials play through because while researching on how to become a content creator and generating ad revenue I know content creators can generate better revenue when the people who watch their videos don't click out of commercials and watch them until the end it can make a difference on the revenue the creator can make. So as a way of appreciation in the time you take to produce these videos and how KZread isn't pushing them I try to help by allowing commercials to run their coarse. It's only a minute or two of my time that can have a greater impact on your compensation and I think all followers should do this. TikTok is set up where creators can be gifted when people appreciate the content so IMO we subscribers to your videos should take a minute or two to let adds run their coarse in thanks for the time you spend to put out the videos we watch. I have to be honest I tried to record a few live dogs with my phone and holy cow by the time I finished digging the first hole I recorded one handed I didn't want to use it because I "might've slipped with a few bad words too many lol" and this isn't including all of the behind the scenes things it takes to make these. And what what was more depressing on that was I live recorded digging one handed an 1804 1/2 cent and the next target 3 feet away a holed 1789 Spanish 1/2 Reale. I think it could've been from the same pocket drop being the other coins in that front area of the property were 100 years newer where as the back had the bulk of colonial activity. I drifted a little off topic for a second but it's not easy to put out these videos you put together extremely well. I think maybe you should take snippets from these videos and stick them on TikTok. I have 1,400 followers and never put out a single video yet I just comment and ID things people can't figure out what they are usually colonial stuff being in NJ I'm familiar with a lot of it but if I got 1,400 followers and I can go live just by commenting you will get people to pick up your KZread channel and grow subscribers fast. I see this one kid (30 years old lol) growing fast and his content can't hold a candle to your. Seriously TikTok will grow your KZread faster then KZread will because the production quality and the additions of the historical pics of your finds puts your videos in a league of your own. You did the work you deserve better credit and there are people out there who would love your videos but they need to find them first KZread somehow isn't helping. I truly wish you great success metal detecting and hopefully the volume of your work gets appreciated the way I believe it could be.

I really appreciate all your kind words and also watching through the commercials Jean! Much appreciated! I would agree with you. I am not the traditional treasure hunter always trying to find the silver and gold. I've been so blessed to have detected all over the world and on some incredible spots throughout my life. From hunting Roman forts, old castles to 1920's yards, I love finding it all and learning from it all! All the silver and gold that I've found over the years doesn't hold a candle to the many unbelievable relics and pieces of history I have been fortunate to find and save. Even finding five gold coins (so far :) doesn't even compare to finding something like a 1500's royal seal matrix that had been used by the Duke of Coburg in numerous witch trials that were held at his castle in Germany. I get just as excited when I find a 1950's Lone Ranger badge! lol I work my tail off and am constantly trying to improve the content and production of the channel. I may only have 15.4K subs at the moment but I have the best 15.4K sub family! When I started the channel, I quickly learned that truly being successful on YT is a marathon and not a race. I wanted people to sub my channel because they liked the content and they hopefully were entertained or learned something each time they watched. I definitely did not want to be a channel that just did giveaways all the time or went out and purchased subs in order to grow their numbers. As a matter of fact, I have purposely built this channel without doing any giveaways at all. I would rather have 15K that are passionate about the channel and have 7,000-8,000 people come to watch and enjoy my episodes each week than be a channel with 100K subs that only gets 300 views each time they put out a video. It's like driving a Porsche around with nothing in your bank account. I've wanted to earn quality subs attracted to the content rather than empty subs attracted to free stuff and who will never be back unless you give more stuff away. Doing it the right way is never easy but in the long run it is the most rewarding and the success achieved is real and not just window dressing. I do understand the power TikTok has for some but that platform really is not for me. Just my personal preference but I really do appreciate your information and suggestion. It certainly is valid. I always kid around that if even a fraction of everyone that watched the episodes just chipped in a dollar each week, it sure would make my life and doing this a whole lot easier! LOL I guess we can all dream. :) It's always great to hear from you Jean and I can't thank you enough for your incredible support for the channel. ATB Greg

When I find compacts, lipstick tubes, or ponds lids I see in my mind a woman who even in the days of the depression or a bit before, was really proud of her looks and worked hard to keep them. Working in a 140,000 sq. Ft. Grocery in Waco Texas and seeing pajamas, no make up, leggings, sports bras and camel toes on parade, I have to wonder where self respect and dignity went.

Greg I really enjoy your videos. Do a good job and show the good with the bad. Nothing faked. By the way, the soil in western NC is just as hard!

Great finds today! How come you don't use a stand up shovel like the stuline or Excalibur? I used both and the Excalibur merlin does a great job digging in dry ground, through roots, and even slightly frozen ground. It's made by hand one at a time. Casey the key date kid on KZread makes them. Before this he made custom exhaust for Nascar!

Thanks and glad you enjoyed watching this one. Just my personal preference. I own several full sized shovels but I only use them in the woods or fields occasionaly. I dig solely with a small hand digger as I have better control over it and am much less likely to hit or damage something in the ground. I'm also able to feel items in the ground like bottles and fragile metal targets and am able to back the pressure off from my blade as I'm sticking it in the gorund. Unfortunately, sticking a shovel into the ground with your boot usually provides that type of feedback too late The optics are also much better for a property owner or grounds keeper when using a small hand digger in parks and yards. Ever wonder about how the piece you found got so far down into the ground was it buried there or was it just covered with wind and soil with time why would an object be so down low into the dirt?

In the case of this particular spot, the ground has been moved around in spots where the houses were torn down. How far down an item can be depends on a lot of factors like soil type, water runoff. trees and climate. Items are covered up over the years by dirt and leaves. As the leaves decompose they add another layer of soil on the item with every passing season. Heavy rains can deposit washed soil over them as well. Freezes and thaws also push and also raise items that are in the ground as well. A stony soil will also slow the rate of descent for some items as well. Tree roots, as they grow larger, will also push down or at time raise up items that are in the ground. It's an interesting thing as I often will dig a hundred year old item only two inches down and then will recover a modern penny six inches down.

Too bad people weren't hiding money in the Ponds face cream jars. So does 3 lids in a row imply that the Mrs. was not a thing of beauty.
