This Man Turned a Car Into a Motorbike to Escape the Desert

In one of his many road trips to Morocco, Emile Leray (nicknamed the “Doctor of African Mechanics” by his friends) hit a roadblock ... literally. Well, actually it was a rock in the middle of the desert, but you get the idea. With his car’s front axel destroyed and a limited food supply, Leray faced an uncertain future. So what did he do? Engineered the ultimate DIY escape.

The story is fake. Not a single video showing how he was able to ride and control the bike. Myth Busters tried and failed to fully replicate this thing in a way where it was controllable faster than an average man's walking speed, and even then the rider would have to get off and push the heavy machine back on course.

Chikh8n no it is not. Walking is very different from letting an animal tote you around. One uses little to no energy, and the other requires quite a bit. Riding a motorcycle, especially one that heavy and unbalanced requires a ton of energy to balance and steer, which is further compounded by the extremely slow speed it was capable of. This comment section has shown me that the world is doomed

It's a gamble either way. Maybe you overestimate your own walking speed and run out of water halfway through. With this bike conversion thing you will at least have access to all of the water for maximum amount of time. And if it looks like you can't do the bike conversion when you have only couple days worth of water left, you can then start walking with the remaining water. There's really no reason to abandon the water.

B: Nearest civilization is hundreds of miles away and you die.
