You have effectively just made some Bakers soldering fluid, an acidic flux. This cuts through surface oxidation better than ordinary fluxed solder, but better suited to plumbing work. A light rub with some emery paper would be easier and safer. You will also need to clean off the residue to prevent the acid causing further corrosion.
