Okay, when Michelle Yeoh puts out a KZread video complaining about Jamie Oliver’s cooking, or when Nigel Ng’s agent gets him a guest role in Star Trek Discovery (or, more likely, Star Trek Lower Decks, since that’s just voice acting in a comedy and suits Nigel to a T), *then* the rest of us might have a basis for comparison.

The call to the agent is the most hilarious thing in this podcast series yet! Brilliant! That movie must happen! Period. Also, this might sound like a paradox, but I actually am more inclined to check your sponsor out because of the sincere talk in this episode, rather than the "if you're on tour, it gets lonely, and you need someone to talk to" appeal. It's the same sincerity why we love Matt so much on moments where he screams "I'm not a charity case, guys!" 😂

There's always 2 sides to a story, but it sounds like some miscommunication from both sides and the 2 of you just didn't gel. It happens. But sounds like she overreacted a little bit, but also if she referenced going to her house, not sure why you put your address in, which wasn't a good move. Sometimes if we're not sure, we just need to be an adult and be straight up and honest and say you're not clear and ask them to be direct.

Just finished listening to the rest of the podcast & about the date. Here's my two cents' worth. Sounds to me maybe just not compatible, she is abit too serious to date a jokester like you. Huge props to you for owning up to your insensitive joke, making up, giving the relationship another try, not be ruled by ego and not writing a girl off so quickly. It says alot about you and also how much you valued that girl, her lost for not knowing that. Oh well, just not meant to be. I pity you, Nigel. You are in a catch-22 situation, if you date someone who knows how famous you are, she might not be sincere, but at least she is well prepared and will not be shocked to hear outrageous insensitive things coming out of that no filter mouth of yours. But if you date someone who isn't a fan yet, then you cannot be yourself completely early on...I still think the latter type of girl is better. So my advice to you is this, reveal your true self slowly, once she sees how smart and interesting you are, she will be curious and start binge watching your videos and podcasts, and prob then she won't be shocked when you do make an insensitive joke. Also, Nigel, not all girls flirt that way, some girls mean what they say. I have been in a few instances myself where men took a No as a playing hard to get or as a pretense of some sort and continued pursuing to the point I felt really disrespected, like what I say don't matter, or like I don't know what I want. I think you have been with far too many superficial clout chasers since fame hit you, that you unknowingly began assuming all women are like that. You gotta decide what kinda woman you want Nigel. I think a direct straightforward honest woman is more suitable for you and also, it prob makes a healthier relationship. You are rich & famous now, you really don't want a shallow & insincere person, there is a risk she may end up selling your story to a tabloid or podcast. A serious & honest person is unlikely to do such things to you. Good luck Nigel on finding a partner to go through life with you, am sure you want to come home to someone to talk to at the end of a busy day, like Matt has with Gemma. You seem like a mature and understanding partner when you aren't going crazy sowing your wild oats, I hope there is a serious girl out there who can see that. But first, you gotta pace yourself with your jokes.

I know I'm a year late, but this is a really down to earth take on the whole thing. Nigel (at least from what we see here) seems like a good dude that, by his own admission, just says some crazy shit sometimes. The intent is there, it just gets lost in that no filter mouth and brain of his lmao. I'm the same way and it's def fucked me up a few times, but I took similar advice to this and have found better partners since, because of being aware of that need. I am also not rich and famous so there's that, but it's still something anyone should be aware of when dating in general.

I have had an experience where I could not say no to the guy out of fear that it would ruin the relationship, but I also did not give the go-ahead for sex. He took the silence as consent and boundaries were crossed. Now when the damage is done, all I can do is to be more upfront next time.

@Calvint7870, Are you sure Michelle Yeoh speaks English with a Malaysian accent on screen? If she does I doubt Hollywood would give her a job. I also wonder if Malaysians speak English like Uncle Roger. Malaysians generally are able to use the correct subject-verb agreement although they might not understand syntax or sentence structure. Uncle Roger's English is just communications English without any grammar. The Education Ministry of Malaysia tried to teach communications English in the 80's/90's. Language without grammar is like nasi lemak without sambal I guess Lolz. Grammar is the soul of any language.

Nah, you crazy. Her bad temper is a legit issue but you disrespecting her three times is worse. Talking about her on a podcast being one of those times. Accountability does not include feeling entitled to forgiveness or downplaying what you did. She did say no and before you only put your address into an Uber, you need to be sure. Not sure why you want a pat on the back for saying ok when she said she wanted to go home. As opposed to what? And the mom thing was blatantly disrespectful. Don't be that guy who thinks they can disrespect women and then call it a joke. Being truly funny means knowing the difference. It is ALWAYS a sensitive topic if someone is estranged from their parents or has a strained relationship with them, and often it is because their parents were abusive. None of this story paints you in a positive light. Do better.

I find it a bit hilarious that they didn't think people would already have figured this out and most people who do it have lost all hope due to their circumstances. Here is a woman's perspective. That kind of shit would also piss me off, not the mother's day thing, but the second event. I would probably not tell what I want to do as a joke but say it in a serious tone though. Lots of women especially asian are afraid of rejecting man formally because that would potentially piss them off and in old days (and still some place today) men would beaten them up for that. Know that man and woman have a physical difference and know that women are for many many years being forced into sex. That mentality still rules. Imagine that you have been used for so many years and then would you not be super reacted to another potential use? So when man and woman are talking about sex, you should not read signs, there are NO signs that can represent a woman actually decides to sleep with you, you should directly ask and get a direct answer. To me, she already answered you clearly, you just don't want to believe what she says because you want to sleep with her. Sex for man is easy and fun but for woman is a serious thing to do, she has to take time and make a big decision before she knows if she wants to do it with you, even you two discussed plans for the future, it does not mean that she wants to sleep with you right now. I don't agree with Matt on this one, I think man just don't get how these things are for women. So be super cautious and conservative with the getting consent part, and make sure you GET it, don't ever ever jump the gun and assume that she wants to do it, if you have to assume, always assume that she does NOT wants to do it, that would get you covered most of the case. Matt says that you did not force her or anything, but the truth is, man don't even have to lay a finger on woman to force them into sex, sometimes they would just get it by the mere fact of they are physically stronger than woman, and the woman are so afraid to piss of the man.

Oh Nigel, I think you have a lot to learn about women. You need to see things from a womans perspective. She told you straight out 'no' to going back to your hotel but you didn't listen to her words. You only saw or heard what you wanted hear. Those cues you saw including the kissing & flirting showed that she liked you but it doesn't mean she wanted to sleep with you that night. She's after something meaningful & wanted to be taken seriously. She's probably experienced many dates where the guy hasn't listened to her & has pressured/expected her to sleep with them within the first few dates. She probably sick of it. Not all girls want to sleep with every guy they go on a date with especially just after a couple of dates. At least she's real and isn't a 'yes' girl just because you're Nigel Ng the comedian. She probably genuinely wanted to get to know you as a person & expected you to do the same with her...now she just thinks you just wanted to sleep with her.

She told you she wanted to go back to her place in several ways, take it for what it is and don’t assume that she wants something else. I do not condone her reaction, it was indeed violent and over the top, but I just try to understand WHY she did it. You know, compassion. Edit: just wanted to add that many women out there have dealt to some extent with some sort of SA and non respect of their boundaries. Try getting a male therapist, Nigel. You might get more out of the sessions. And yes, please DO put a treatment together for an Uncle Roger movie, we're DYING for one! That idea Evelyn Mok had where Uncle Roger is your twin & you both end up falling for the same girl would be mad funny.

Rather than one or the other being crazy, from your perspective I’d say that the prognosis for this relationship isn’t favorable and it’s probably smarter to spend your time and attention on someone else.

I have stopped reading June HL Wong's articles long time ago...her correlations were often, and seems to be still is, very lame. She is a dramatic flowery fictional writer, not a critical thinker. I have nothing against dramatizing, it is needed to make a story captivating. Nigel is emphatic in his podcast because he has an important point to make, on seeing things from a wider perspective. It doesn't feel like it is merely an act for entertainment purposes, whereas June HL's writing does. On therapy, it almost seems like the Haiya podcast is part therapy to Nigel where he gets to go on a verbal diarrhea on his deepest darkest thoughts. Lucky him, most people can only write such thoughts in their journal, nobody really wants to have such conversations, let alone give much thought to such things. Unless you pay them, like Matt or a therapist. Matt is like a therapist and a punching bag at the same time (I know it is for entertainment value & don't actually think Nigel is bullying Matt). Kudos to Matt, it takes a really open minded & kind person to see Nigel's POV. Am a fan of the podcast btw, always excited to hear what you've gotta say.

Man are you right about smug cliche therapy!!!! Man man man 99% of these people are like that. To find a therapist who is actually helpful and worth the time and money is very very rare. Very hard to locate. They all fail because of the "smug" ticket.

It is because people feel like he is purposely doing that asian accent for his uncle roger character to gain viewers. I am asian myself and i feel that is a sellout. Just like back then willian hong auditioning for american idol. Alot of asian especially chinese feel so embarassed by him, but other race likes him. The difference is than willian hong isnt faking things to be famous, but this guy is. I watched first few uncle roger skit that was funny, after that it is not that funny anymore. Even uncle roger standup isnt that good. Jimmy o yang stand up is more solid than his. Well, thats just my opinion. Well, to each their own

I don't think Nigel was at fault, but I think it was also pretty understandable why his date reacted the way she did. Calling her 'crazy' seems a bit too harsh, at least based on the story as presented. For Nigel to say "Well **I** have a very good relationship with my mom", even jokingly, sounds like rubbing salt in what might be a painful wound for her. To her ears it could sound like "Well unlike you, I'm filial / a good child, and also I have this happy relationship which you don't get to enjoy, haha." If I was on a date with Nigel, I'd probably let it fly, as I know from watching the podcast that he's a naturally offensive person who doesn't always mean what he says. But if it was anyone else, I might react differently (assuming I had a bad relationship with my mom). I'm personally quite surprised at how Nigel could interpret multiple 'no's as "flirting", even taking into consideration the making out and sex talk which happened prior. Like legitimately, how do you hear "No, I prefer using my own make up products" twice and interpret that as "I want to sleep at yours tonight"? Anyway, I'll give Nigel the benefit of the doubt as I've often been WAYY off at reading others' intentions myself. I can definitely see his date's perspective. If I told a date multiple times that I wanted to go back to my place, only to have them flagrantly ignore my requests and call a cab for their place, I definitely wouldn't be too happy. It would feel like they were trying to push me into having sex with them. The optics also look pretty bad for Nigel as he's a guy and his date was a girl (I know abuse and coercion can happen both ways- Amber Heard being a case in point, but still). She also might've had bad experiences with pushy guys in the past. The fact that Nigel offended her earlier on probably didn't help matters, so tbh I'm not surprised she reacted the way she did (though I doubt I'd blow up like she did). Anyway, good episode, loved seeing Matt back. Hope Nigel doesn't let his date experience eat away at him, but also hope he learns from it. Side note: you've given out quite a bit of identifying info about the Betterhelp psychologist- maybe consider editing out her name if you're going to talk negatively about her in public?

As a woman, I'd just like to say that we treat every guy we go out with as a potential threat, no matter how nice they seem or how much we like them. A firm or direct "no" can have potentially serious consequences, as many men don't like to hear that.

I agree with you. I am a French middle aged woman and I had to confront harassment before. If you are with a nice guy (no one to be afraid pr unsure of), just say things clearly, and if they are verbal misunderstandings, apologies exists and if we always stay polite both ways, then no one gets hurt. I personally love your strong and dark sense of humor a lot and had partners like that who I loved dearly, but if you had to apologize 3 times in 3 dates, that was definitely a wrong match ! Maybe she felt it before you did and just didn't deal well with it because she feared your sharp tongue...

You Crazy - if she wanted to go with you she would have said yeah lets see what you got. (so your line was fine - you were just not programmed to understand the negative result - now you can use it with confidence) also you need to find a real life uncle Roger to be your therapist.
