Lyrics:
As I went walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway
I saw below me that golden valley
This land was made for you and me
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island
From the redwood forest to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me
I've roamed and rambled, and I've followed my footsteps
To the sunny bright sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice came singing
Singing this land was made for you and me
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island
From the redwood forest to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me
It was early one morning as I was strolling
The wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
As the fog was lifting a voice come chanting
This land was made for you and me
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island
From the redwood forest to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me
Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walkin' my freedom highway
Nobody living can make me turn back
This land was made for you and me
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island
From the redwood forest to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

This almost mournful version rings even truer this July 4th, 2024.

This is the Carnegie Chapter Hall performance, November 8, 1961. Remarkable.

I've absolutely loved Dylan's version of this classic. If anyone "gets it," it's definitely Bob.

This was one of my favourite songs to play on the guitar. I should go perform it.

Both of you should study Mark Knopfler's European Claw style of picking. It's very powerful and better than most musicians can even manage. But it's beautiful.

Wow. Never heard it before by Bob. Much slower and i loved it. The graspy voice turns it very special.

I have long looked for a cover of this song that matters. From off-point anthemic bombast to the “too prettys,” to the angry cynical takes, none ever got to it’s essence on the other side of things. (Arlo’s catches lots of his father’s spirt, though). This one is different. For once Dylan drops nearly all of his cynical, sharp edge. It’s sad and lost. Tragic and transcendent. I wonder if he played it for Woody at Greystone. Dunno, but it is incredible.

One of the best evenings I ever had was with a wonderful gentleman telling me stories. He was a private pilot who flew Bob Dylan around after his career with Continental was over. Excellent version of this song. I've just been getting deeper into Dylan's works lately.

20 yrs before Bruce got ahold of it. Perfect idea to slow it down and emphasize the words. You feel the hopes of the people and the failure of some of those hopes.

Bob does it as a love song, Bruce as an anthem. Both work spectacularly.

Lord Dylan ! Novembre 1961 ‼️‼️❗️ 👒✨️⭐️ He didn't came empty handed or by chance . Thanks to you my friend who put him on line today 4 of July 2024 in the stormy weathers roaring in those elections days in Europe and America as well.
