Any CE to me. It seems it gets viewed as the poor man's Core model but to me it feels a bit more versatile. I love my Custom 22, but I find it works a lot better as rhythm guitar and it just needs some more tweaking when it comes to leads while the CE just sits well. Having owned two of those I feel pretty confident it's the design of it that elevates even more the exceptional engineering PRS does, so I feel it should be as revered as the Custom

I was a fanboy of the cu24 for yrs. Owned one, second-hand, for 5 yrs and played it all the time. Got an inkling to try a CE24 - went to a local music store that had one, strummed one chord and had that “A HA!” moment. Found myself playing it more than my cu24 and actually ended up selling the cu24, because I was more inspired by the ce. The CE is now my main, go-to guitar. Absolutely love it. The perfect guitar imo.

A guitar center only guitar but man those pick ups in it are magical. 57 classics with Alnico 2's at around 8.4k or just over 9k. Amazing tone. Does everything. Sounds amazing. Very cool and I love it. I always call it a Bolt in neck because the neck fits into a neck pocket unlike other F type neck pockets. I knew a guy that my brother and I played with who had a ce from like 92 or something, but it was cool as could be.. I tried to buy it, but he wouldn't sell it of course.. 😂Can't blame him. I recently within the last year or so saw one of the replacement Skynard.. guitarists with a Bolt in PRS guitars playing on stage and it was cool.. I think it was bolt in. I love the CE line. Glad they are getting more attention in recent years. It's really hard to live under the Custom 24's shadow. How do you feel about the open pore satin/matte style finish? I have some guitars on mine with a similar finish that end up having shiny spots on areas that I touch frequently. I personally think that satin/matte guitars feel great to the touch. Also...if they make a CE with the Custom 24's 5 way blade...well...just take my wallet lol

My problem with PRS guitars is this. #1 When I strum them "dry"( un-amplified ) they do not resonate and sound somewhat muddy. If a guitar is well-made and designed, that to me, is that Acid Test of a guitar's build integrity. In other words, you shouldn't have to rely on the pickups to make up for deficiencies in the inherent design. #2 I totally get and respect that Paul set out to design a guitar with the basic framework of a Les Paul ( wood choice, short scale ) with the upper fret access of a Strat, but the problem is, they sound "small" and not beefy as one would expect with a Mahogany body, set-neck short(er) scale guitar. They look very pretty, but if the tone and resonance isn't there, Paul hasn't really achieved his initial goal with his initial design back in the 80s. I have played $600 used Ibanez Artist guitars from the 70s that achieve all of that for FAR less money. Just my honest opinion.
