As you'll see in this video, there are absolutely NO shortage of things to do in Sofia Bulgaria. We absolutely loved our time in Sofia & can guarantee you'll love it as well. Come check out the best things to do in Sofia with us!
We kicked Sofia off with coffee & breakfast at a place called Rainbow Factory. This is consistently rated the highest among the coffee shops & breakfast spots in Sofia & it’s VERY convenient for us since our Airbnb is basically right above it.
Nearby is a historical site called St. George Rotunda. This church is located in the courtyard of the Government Office so you’ll be able to easily find it from the center of Sofia. It’s believed to be the oldest building in Sofia, dating back to the beginning of the 4th century AD during the reign of Constantine the Great. It’s currently operational as a temple & holds daily worship services of Byzantine music.
Also while you're over here, make sure to check out Sofia's most beautiful statue, Saint Sofia Monument!
Next up was the Sofia History Museum. It’s about a five minute walk from the Saint Sofia Monument & to that point, Sofia as a city is very walkable. Most stops today are within about 10 minutes of each other so you can see a ton within a few hours. The Sofia History Museum is located inside the former building of the Central Mineral Baths & is centered around the archeology, ethnography, & cultural history of Sofia. It holds over 120,000 historical objects, dating between 6th millenium BC up to the 1940s. The two-storied museum has eight halls, each focusing on different themed historical moments & periods during Sofia’s existence.
One of the top things to do in Sofia is to stroll down Vitosha Boulevard. This street is home to popular restaurants, shops, & provides an incredible view of the nearby Vitosha Mountain, which is where the street got its name from. We stopped to grab some barbecue at Ribs Brothers & it was great!
Next up on our things to do in Sofia was to head over to the City Garden. This is the oldest & most central public garden. It’s been around since 1872 & the locals love it. Also if you’re visiting the city park then make sure to check out the Ivan Vazov National Theater!
Without question, the top of the list of things to do in Sofia is to visit Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. It’s a Bulgarian Orthodox cathedral that serves as the seat of the country’s patriarch is named after Alexander Nevsky.
Next to Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is the Church of St. Nicholas the Miracle-Maker. It’s referred to in short as the Russian Church since it’s built in the traditional Russian style of domed towers & elaborate facades.
Next up on our list of things to do in Sofia was to get traditional Bulgarian food at a place called Moma. Make sure to stop there whenever you're visiting Sofia!
Sofia has a rapidly growing craft beer scene so we headed to a place called Vitamin B. We got some local beers and wrapped our day exploring Sofia in the best way possible.
Thanks so much for watching our vlog on the best things to do in Sofia! Please leave a LIKE if you enjoyed the video as it helps us tremendously, & be sure to subscribe to follow along! Thanks so much again and see you soon!

Thank you so much for watching!!! So the BBQ was very good, but honestly it wasn't as good as the stuff back home. Granted, that's probably just my bias showing😂 they definitely know how to eat though. Bulgaria's been the most surprising country thus far. It's amazing to us that it isn't more popular!

Thank you so much for the high praise Eric!!! We love Rick Steves! He was the one that first started introducing us to Europe, & every once in awhile we'll watch one of his videos of a place we've been so we can see what we did & didn't do. It's so fun watching his videos now though. As far as the BBQ goes, it wasn't as smokey as the stuff back home. Granted we lived in Nashville for 8 years before we left so we were REALLY spoiled for amazing BBQ, but this stuff was definitely good enough to satisfy the craving. The corn was the deceptively good part. I have no idea what type of butter they used on it but MANNN it was heavenly😂 Thank you so much for watching Eric!!!

I saw you posted a new video and guess what? Before watching it I followed your advice when you responded to my last comment. I ate first! I just finished watching and I had to laugh, this afternoon we had a BBQ in our yard and when I saw Hannah eating that pulled pork with fries and corn, that's exactly what I had! Beautiful city, I've just got to go there sometimes in the future, Love your videos, as Eric wrote, definitely much better than Rick Steves in Europe! You guys are the best!

That's EXACTLY why I mentioned in the last video to eat first!!🤣🤣 The food in Sofia was out of this world. They had everything, even a Mexican restaurant!! We found ourselves eating out almost every night mostly because of the prices, but also because you can find just about any cuisine you could want there. We have a little list of places we've been to that we could spend weeks in at a time & Sofia's in our top 3. It's just such a great city. You guys are the best though!! We can't thank you enough for all the kind words you give us. You definitely keep us going and pushing along on this journey!!!!

  • @ProbablyLost

Hi! Thank you so much!! If it were up to us, we'd probably spend the more time in Sofia. This primarily comes down to us not being able to spend a day taking a trip around the area. The great thing about Sofia is that a lot of the big tourist spots are well within walking distance from each other, whereas Bucharest is much more spread out. We only spent a couple of days in Sofia & regretted it MASSIVELY. So our choice is definitely Sofia! Hopefully this helps a bit, & thank you so much for taking the time to watch our videos!!!

Hi Guys - I’m just back from Riga, Latvia.. what a place! And as always happened after a city break you want to plan the next one straight away! Just a quick question, I’d watched the Bucharest video too although I can’t help but think Sofia looks a fair bit nicer.. seemed to be a lot more graffiti in Bucharest and a bit more run down, that might not be the case though but just wanted to check if you’s say Sofia was probably the more appealing city overall and on the eye?

  • @ProbablyLost

    @ProbablyLost

    11 ай бұрын

Hi Paul!! I can’t tell you how jealous I am that you made it to Riga. We want to get up there so bad!! As far as Sofia and Bucharest, I’ll admit we honestly were really impressed by the beauty in Sofia. I would say it’s definitely easier on the eye than Bucharest. The good thing about Bucharest though is that you’re a short train ride to the mountains, which I can’t recommend enough. Sinaia and Brasov are stunning and well worth spending more time in that Bucharest in my opinion. Bucharest has a great beer and has a lot more to see than Sofia, but it’s also more spread out. You can see a bulk of the historial sights in Sofia within two days. They’re both great but from an aesthetic perspective, I’d have to give Sofia the edge. They’re both really awesome though so you’ve only got great options!! Hopefully this helps a bit, and thanks so much for taking the time to watch our video!!!
