    Exactly. Opposed to this perspective. This is why you DON’T want to watch the NBA anymore. Why I argue no way a modern champion team can beat old-school champion teams in a series when using old-school rules. Jordan Bulls V Curry Warriors using 1990s physical games? Nope. And I love my Warriors.

  • @lucidstudious750

    @lucidstudious750

    This isn't the main cause for the high scoring games. Yes some rules makes it tougher to play defense but you still have elite defenders who are very skilled playing amazing d. The issue is offense is just that good You can see this on small market teams when they play each other or when the benches Duke it out with star players. Some refs allow more physicality but it doesn't bother players as much anymore

    @@lucidstudious750duh of course it's the rules and of course the offense is just that good. It's the product of rules catering to offense only. Now players only work on crafting their offensive game because defense is damn near extinct. Players dont Really craft their Defense anymore because in the modern NBA their is no need for Defense because everything is a foul. Shit if a Defense even looks at the offense the will get a technical foul lol 😂. It has gotten so bad that players try to draw a foul as a game plan. See it everyday where a shooter goes up and then like either throws thier body into some one mid air or they kick their legs out to draw that lil contact. It's like WWE at this point with all the acting that goes on. Lol a players pinky hits them and u see them flop like ten feet back It's really comical now a days. The must have like one of those clown schools but for flopping 😂😂😂. Flopping is so horrible.

    I LOVE the appreciation for the evolution of the game!!!! Thank you . Sure I liked the NBA of my youth but it’s wild to see how it’s changed. Hypothetical question / if you brought a “classic” (80/90s team) into today’s league they almost assuredly won’t succeed (foul city) but is the inverse true? I don’t think so. Today’s teams are so much more athletic I think they would still succeed if they were magically transported to those times.

  • @fuzzybanana0123

    @fuzzybanana0123

    Not at all. 80s/90s teams played tough. Teams now call for fouls with every little graze of an arm. Any team transported from now to back then would just get beat up hard and have have no idea what to do. They'd have to rely on shooting the deep ball but I don't think that would help much. I don't think you've watched pre-00s basketball to make a comment like this.

    Imo the fact that you can't play defense now isn't the largest contributing factor, although it does play a part. I think this speaks mostly to team disparity and super teams. At the same time you have some of the highest scoring teams in history, you've got some of the worst teams in history as well. The good teams are WAY better than the bad teams and so it creates these super lopsided blowout games with tons of points.

    Nah, the 2021-2022 Season was the best year of the NBA. Mostly because it was the 75th Anniversary, and Mostly the East and the West were balanced, too many good teams in the West, and too many good teams in the East. After that season it's more like the West mostly again has the higher ground, and it sucks! And part of the 2021-2022 Season was because, there were a lot of thrilling games, like a lot...

    The stats are infflated. Because if you brought back prime KD golden state they'd be averaging 133 ppg. One big reaason why was when teams faced golden state, the game was over by the third quarter.. It was a bench v bench in the fourth for the most part. There was even a time Kerr just gave the clip board to draymon and they made their own plays. As the years went on, more rules were made to benefit the offense than the defense. Yes the league is more talented now than before with more craft shooters, but foul calls are out of control, refs are kicking players out because they are outraged byt the amount of free throws they are giving away, and players are scared to defend because of it. Today's game is straight free throws and is horrible era to play defense. This shift you are seeing? The high PPG? it's a combination of the league's failure to encourage defense and the increase of talent. This trend will only go up.

    The league is controlling the narrative here with refs. You only have to look at how anti-lbj/steph they are to understand how shady the org is. Slowly starting to become a NBA hater 😢
