Fields has also played like a bum, made a couple cute runs and folks like to d ride him, dude has been consistently buns, can't process at NFL speed and still can't reconize NFL open, actively refuses to throw the ball to guys who aren't Ohio State wide open, zero anticipatory skills. He's a see it throw it guy, which makes him late on throws all the time. He's has 78 int/fumbles in 38 games, and he's so scared of throwing picks now he freezes and panics at the top of his drop when he's unsure of what he's seeing, which is all the time. I don't know if it has to do with him being epileptic, but he's a tick slow on everything processing wise. Great athlete, not a great QB. The biggest gain fields showed this year was a reduction in turnovers. A Career low 2.4% int rate (which should be lower with the bad luck on hail mary's), career low on Turnover Worthy Throw % of 4.3%. Career low Bad Throw % of 16.3%. This is in part due to a reduction in his Average Depth of Target to a career low 8.8 as well as a career high in throw aways at 29. Showing he's doing better at knowing when a Play is dead and not turning a neutral play into a bad play. On the flip side he finished with Next Gen Stats worst Expected completion % in the league. 4th worst passer rating in the 4th quarter. And there just isn't a lot of in general improvement from year 1 to year 3. His struggles on intermediate throws as a rookie, that there was some improvement in year 2, came back in year 3. And his reluctance to throw in that range, likely due to the lack of success he's found, remains. He remained the most pressured qb in the NFL between the combination of a mid at best offensive line and his desire to hold onto the ball and lack of anticipation throwing. He lost some of the explosiveness in his legs with fewer big runs. And most of his efficiency numbers didn't improve with the addition of DJ moore.

Bears fan here. I feel like after training camp the coaches are going to see an ENORMOUS talent gap between Fields and an old version of Russell Wilson. Regardless of all the "veteran leadership, experience" talk that will come with Wilson, The second that Steeler team watches Fields throw a 45 yard fade route on the money and then 2 plays later beat their top Cornerback to the sideline and turn up field for a 20+ yard gain there are going to be A LOTTTT of question marks as to who will be the starter. Fields problem with the bears was quick decision making and pre snap reads both of which can be coached up or solved with a great offensive line or elite receivers. Fields is a top 5 talent in my eyes at QB im not quite sure why the rest of the NFL is was sooooo hesitant on going after him. Dude could easily go for 4500 total yards if he plays a full season.

As a Bears fan who actually watched every game, then game film and breakdowns, he definitely has the talent and leadership to thrive in Pittsburgh. This whole notion that the Bears “failed him” is false though. There were consistent reads that he missed, wide open recievers that he didnt throw the ball to, sacks that he took because of slow processing or running away from the pocket, he held the ball longer than most QBs in the NFL as well. He had a true number one reciever and a great tight end and people are convinced if he had 3 pro bowl WRs and an all pro line, he wouldve been a MVP. Thats true of almost every talented QB ever drafted. He does not raise the ceiling of a team like other franchise QBs which is why nobody traded for him until most jobs were taken. But in the right system, he can thrive.

@@iels7346 I've been pointing out the same thing. People think because the Bears were so talent-starved, that's the only reason Fields struggled. I've seen what you commented. Many of those sacks were his fault. I the top of his reads he would often hesitate a missed opportunity or just miss the read outright. Tom Brady said on your dropback, it must be a 1,2, 3 throw. You have 2.5 to 2.7 seconds to get that ball out of your hands. Fields is well over 3. I can't recall but I think 3.4. There were rumors of this during the 2020 predraft. That's the reason his stock dropped to where the Bears could draft him. I think if you search, it can be found. Also, his ball security isn't good, with thirty-eight fumbles in forty games.

Field's made watching a crappy Bears team fun and entertaining. Most Bears fans are still trying to understand the reasoning behind this move. The fans and his teammates all loved him. The media for some unknown reason did not. He never played behind the same offensive line which is why he led the league in sacks. You people will soon witness the magic of Justine Fields and like most Bears fans will wonder what Bears GM Poles was thinking when he dumped him.

It just sucks that the it finally looked like he was getting some weapons just to trade him but I believe that trading him to a living legend of a coach like Mike Tomlin and finally in a position to sit and learn how to be an NFL QB was in his best interest. It’s not like the situation with Cam Newton or Jared Goff where they were sent to organizations where their career was meant to die. I personally am not a fan of the situation simply because the rookie QB who comes in is going to get the 49ers 2.0 experience. Also, Caleb Williams is a massive red flag, yes he is a part of the stacked QB talent in this draft, but there are clear signs that he doesn’t want to play for Chicago whilst not being head above shoulders above Jayden Daniels and Drake May.

There has been a significant reassessment among league GMs about what the value of a former 1st Round QB is worth. In the past there was a tendency to continue to view them through the lense of a 1st round pick - "oh, we're getting a former 1st rounder - we'll harnass that talent". Now, I think GMs are starting to say instead, "this guy was overrated/overdrafted". A failed starter is a failed starter - and a failed starter is a backup - and a backup is worth a mid to low round pick.

Chicago Bears never gave him the coaching, play schemes and protection in the pocket, have talented receiver's to throw to, allow him to use his versatile skills he has a very good chance to be a very successful QB in the NFL and take steelers to Super bowl. He would have won more games for us last season if he did not have a thumb injury. It aches us that he was traded he just needed a real offensive coach that believes in him, better defensive players to protect him in the pocket to allow him time to throw. Love this young mans character and he is very competitive, never complains, takes the heat for the team loss, takes challenges in stride. He deserves better and not be trashed so much by media and fans. Our franchise is going to regret this move. Congrats Steelers and I hope he has a chance to start for you this upcoming season to prove he is a good QB and deserves to be starting. He brings so much life to a game and fun to watch. Wish him only the best. Hate seeing him end up backup QB which he is not he is a starter can lead a team in the locker room and very likeable by his teammates. Lifelong Bears fan and Justin Fields supporter...with that being said, it was time to move on. Not only getting Caleb on a rookie contract and avoiding exercising Field's fifth year option ($25 mil), but it resets the window for the Bears to win now (and acquire veteran's (ie. Swift, Allen, Byard, etc.) I loved watching Justin Fields play and literally take over games with his legs, however there were too many times where he lacked the ability to read zone defense's/throw with anticipation to be a true franchise QB. Also, if Poles were to keep Fields (drafted by Pace) and he had a poor year, he would surely be fired. However, if he drafts Caleb (and he has a poor year) he would most likely be retained on the fact that Caleb was a rookie alone, and expected to make mistakes. I wish Justin nothing but the best in Pittsburgh, but there was no way that the Bears could pass on a QB again, considering they've had the #1 pick in back to back drafts.

He didn't do that for Justin. He hired an OC who'd never called or designed plays for Justin. He went and got numerous experienced offensive coaches for his new shiny toy! Ryan Poles didn't do right by Justin. He did Justin so dirty! I believe, while looking back to '22, Ryan Poles had no intentions of ever keeping Justin. He never made any moves to ensure that JF1 would have or be successful!

@@eddiejames9827 First of all, Ryan Poles had to spend this first year plus cleaning up the cap hell left behind from Ryan Pace. With that being said, you say he didn't bring in any O-line help when he literally spent a top 10 pick on a LT last year. You also say he never brought in talented receivers or TE's for Justin? He literally traded for DJ Moore (true #1), extended Kemet (top 10 TE), and (although the production wasn't there) traded a 2nd for Claypool, spent a 3rd on Velus Jones, a 4th on Tyler Scott, and signed Tonyan (receiving TE) in FA. Poles said he wanted to do right by Justin, and now there are reports here could've received better draft compensation, but wanted to respect Justin's wishes and traded him to the Steelers. Although it may not be the best for business, not many GM's would do that. So to say he did wrong by Justin, couldn't be further from the truth.

@eddiejames9827 Took the words out of my mouth. I really don’t get the love affair some fans have for Poles. The first red flag was the Roquan Smith saga. The second was the obvious tank year and the third was then panic trading for Claypool and getting fleeced. What he did to Justin was just flat out dishonest and I’m positive players and agents see this. I’ll always be a Bears fan but I’m looking forward to the press conference in two years where they announce he’s been let go. There is no QB in this draft that will get the Bears to the playoffs and I see a serious regression coming. Which means the HC he doubled down on will be let go and he will be soon to follow.
