Definitely a unique perspective for more western audiences… it’s sometimes difficult to pick up on some of the tiny minutia/ foreshadowing/ puns/ wordplay that oda uses when it’s getting translated through to English first. Love this type of content

You're way off base. You still don't get it. The war of the void century has been going on for far longer than the period of history one piece has covered. Before there was a nika fruit, there was Nika himself opposing the Gods. The giants have long life spans and remember Nika, which is why they refer to him by his name and not the name of a later Nika fruit user. Before the ancient kingdom the gorosei ruled and Im decided to exterminate humanity and give the world to some new species, so Nika gave aided man by giving men the eternal flame, which allowed mankind to build an advanced kingdom. But the gorosei trapped Nika in some form of eternal punishment (since Nika is a god and can't be killed), gained control of the ancient kingdom and resumed plotting the annihilation of mankind, and so a devil fruit with nika's power appeared and someone ate it. Then they created the world government, and another Nika fruit user appeared. . . The gorosei have ruled over man since the beginning. Governments change but they remain in control. The gorosei are gods and men are powerless before the gods, which is why they have to wait for nika fruit users to inherit the power of the god Nika. Nika has had to repeatedly wait for the right person to give his powers to, then fight the gods and ultimately fail only to do it over again and we have no idea how many times he has done that. I think that's his punishment and the gorosei expect him to do it over and over again until they finally exterminate humanity and trap nika in a devil fruit without a human alive that can eat it and become the bearer of his will and power. One Piece is based on the myth of prometheus. If you don't understand that then you don't understand One Piece. You're a smart guy, there's no reason why you shouldn't have realized this by now. Once you do, you'll be the only one piece theory channel on youtube that isn't full of shit. BTW, once you realize that, you'll realize the significance of shanks being called "red hair" shanks.
