It looks like Panasonic has impressed a lot of the film making audience with this update. The AF-improvements and the stabilization from the G9-II and in addition the proxi-recoding out of nowhere are just the kind of improvements everybody would like to get for the existing models when it is possible that the camera can do it. I wouldn't be surprised if the proxi recording will be implemented in the G9-II and probably also in the GH6. The feeling that you are not just buying a device that is what it is and instead buy into a developing system that grows within a reasonable frame is worth a lot.

@@ArberBaqaj The S5II is now improved but still, it's the slow sensor and actually the entry level l-mount camera. It is only a coincidence that it has the best feature set at the same time. As soon as the new S1R, S1H and probably also an S1 shows up, we will have a family of cameras with much better features. A look at the top models of the other companies allows to kind of guess what is possible and speculate what Lumix can do if they go all the way. I'm sure they have already some prototypes out there and we will see some of it later this year.

I know what you mean, Arber.... Panasonic have always seemed to listen to users, and don't cripple their current lineups to make you buy another one of their cameras (when you just want ONE). My GH5 is the only camera I won't sell, while my other full frames (like Canon and Sony) are going to be sold because I don't care about them. They're like a mobile phone to me. The big camera brands feel like they're holding me hostage with 'slightly' better specs in one or two areas, while Panasonic never feels like this (even when they had poor auto-focus before).

Same story here, went to Sony from Panasonic for the reliable autofocus and the wider variety of lenses. But I'm really liking what Panasonic does, giving us everything we need to film with their cameras at a competitive price, and that they are closing in with autofocusing feature - but shame the L-mount never really seem to take off, feels like the variety is lacking. Would you say S5II is as realiable as A7s III when autofocusing?

Thank you, in this video you made me realize that it is worth staying with the system that Panasonic offers after all. Admittedly, I use the MFT because it's actually enough for me to record KZread content, I don't see a use for full frame - yet - and the Lumix GH5m2 can handle autofocus for my needs. My first camera from Panasonic - the G80, which I bought a few years ago and is not suitable for vlogging, due to poor autofocus - is still receiving firmware updates. I also have some nice MFT lenses, but wanted to sell everything last month to buy a Sony FX30. I don't know if it's because of all the hype on the internet, or because it just looks cool. What I miss about the Panasonic is a ZV-1 type camera with good autofocus. I tried the GX800, which has a larger sensor, interchangeable lenses and identical size to the ZV-1, but poor autofocus. Same with the G100, supposedly dedicated to vloggers. I'm waiting for a good sale on the Lumix G9II, and I'm still waiting for some small camera that will work as a B cam. So much for my part. I'm curious to see how your story continues. Greetings from across the Baltic Sea.

This month I addressed customer service and customer loyalty about my company. And according to a survey of 97,000 customers shows that if you have a good product, 7 out of 10 people will tell their friends about it. If you have a bad product, only 1/3 of people will dissuade their friends from it. But it's completely different with customer service. As many as 65% of people will tell their friends about negative customer service experiences. Only 25% will tell about positive ones. Apparently, Sony has not done its homework ;)

I agree with you that if Sony' is still selling a specific camera model, they should release firmware update for it. Yes, they anger A7SIII users by giving the Sony ZV E1 better stabilization (Dynamic active stabilization), and other practical new features even though the ZV E1 is cheaper by more than $1,000. On top of that, its hardware specification is 90 percent the same as that of the A7SIII. They are doing this to other models too. This is a deal breaker for many Sony users.

This could’ve been a 4 minute video. A business has to do what it needs to do to keep innovating. How long did it take Panasonic to get good autofocus? They had to give software upgrades to make up for the bad autofocus. Panasonic does everything you want from Sony but you still left them. So you cannot please everyone. For people just getting into photo/video then Sony offers fantastic features at lower price points. I shoot both Sony and Fujifilm and own an a7iv. I do agree that it is great to get upgrades but if the next model comes out 2, 3 or 4 years later then I can’t be mad at them. I bought an LG plasma TV 2 years ago and the new models have new features that mine doesn’t have. That’s how things work. Some new features are great and other features are just gimmicky. I will just focus on getting as good with what I have and will upgrade when one of the new features will make a difference in my workflow and not just because it is new.

Same situation here brother, I'm also in process of selling my all Sony gears soon.I'd seen that Sony cameras are giving less value in long run .Sony is less connected with the customers but more connected with their sales team I think, who just read the market stats numbers and push development teams to build new lineup of cameras with features taken from present line of cameras but in different form factor. In this way they make more profit rather than making a new firmware update for present cameras. My biggest issue with Sony was that with every camera they push me to buy new expensive typeA cards else I will have to face overheating in some cameras outside in less than 30 minutes.Stablization and grip cages needs extra gear means more money to buy. So, overall Sony is not that good in long run and does not give value. Autofocus is never required always other than recording yourself. Most important is the color. Sony log video needs more treatment to be color good before delivering your final product to the customers in photo and video both. My customers first pick Canon and Nikon colors, second Lumix and Fujifilm colors as they look filmic. Sony comes last as it look more processed with skin tones without editing.

But per 1 GB data capture with Sony's cameras are much costly to preserve and takes more time to process as well as codecs are misbalanced with their cards systems or they had created an artificial software limit. They better know but other brands give more value in long run for per 1 GB data capture and need very less or no time to process as color science straight is so good and codecs are efficient.

well despite I agree with what your saying, I do have a different opinion. Your right, Sony should compete with other brands and offer better firmware support for there cameras. But, for me, whats more important is what camera inspires me to create, what camera makes me want to use it creatively. Im a hobbyiest which is probably why thats so important, but i recently picked up a camera, and it was between the panasonic s52x, the sony zv e1 or the sony fx30. After doing my research, each of these would fit my needs and all able to delivery high enough quality for my liking. Can you guess which one I picked? I picked the Sony fx30, yes i chose this apsc camera over the full frame ones. Why? Because theres something about the fx30/fx3 build, feel and look that makes me want to pick it up and create. The panasonic, i cant stand that type of body thats been used for every camera for the past 20 years and the zv e1 looks and feeks like a toy. I absolutley love my song fx30, even if the other two technically would be better because of the full frame, the image from the fx30 is stunning and obviously ive got a nice upgrade path the the fx3. Maybe if i was doing professional work id feel differently but as a hobbiest thats how I feel about cameras. I thought you were Panasonic? ...I think you were before since I watched a bunch of your videos. I use to shoot GH5, loved that camera! As you know Arber cause I think you did shoot GH5 as well right? ...the low light & AF were both a concern. I made the jump to Sony finally and full-frame. Panasonic menu system just works better for me but I am use to Sony now. I owned the A1 & A7Siii. I did not think it was cool newer less expensive no flagship Sony cameras had some better features than their higher price models, that did not seem right from a business point of view. Sony had their reasons for doing what they did. I do understand it is not always as super easy doing a firmware update like some might think. For video for example the A7Siii and FX3 are both beast of cameras even without the firmware update the update of course makes them better. Lots and lots of people who owned Sony cameras, invested in Sony complained and complained expressing their unhappiness with Sony business practice in terms of updates for some of it camera models. Sure I can understand people saying, I have had enough in terms of waiting 3+ years and Sony gear is more expensive no doubt. I get all my Sony gear at a discount otherwise I more than likely would have stayed with Panasonic or went with Fuji since I love their color science. Sony eventually got the message from their customers and made the adjustment they should have done before. Sometimes it takes people pushing and enough people pushing for a change to happen. Some might fall off as you did Arber and how could anyone blame you. I suppose at the end of the day Sony is a very big company and I know they are not so much in business for me, they are in business for the masses. DJI for example has what I and many other people probably feel is the right idea with firmware updates and listening to their customers. I do believe Sony learned its lesson with feedback and pushback It got from so many. Too bad it is too late for you Arber at the moment. Panasonic has indeed stepped up so I think you will be fine with them.

Honestly I dont have a skin in the game. I use a lot of cameras but yes Panasonic has been one of the brands I use. The Gh5 is a killer! Its probably the camera I have made most videos with =) I agree that DJI are doing exactly what everybody should do! I do not think Sony have learned their lesson. I think they are going to keep doing what they do. Have a great day my friend!

Your are ranting and they are all about the same until you move to RED and ARRI and maybe even Blackmagic at this point. Really comes down to if you need Autofocus or not. Now that there is a decent Lidar system, Blackmagic seems to be the next step up.. I always loved Blackmagic but need autofocus for 90% of my projects.

Yeah, Sony just sell you the camera and if you want new features buy the new one which has them :D. Although before Panasonic has been known for paid updates (like VLOG one), now they are doing great job with firmware updates. But I'm invested to much into Sony E mount eco system, so it's not viable to switch to Panasonic which is 10% better in some regards :D - thus after having S5IIX for 11 months I've sold it because have only 1 AF lens for it :(.

First, if you buy Panasonic, you're still buying Sony sensors. Secondly, ZV-E1 doesn't even output raw over HDMI, why are you comparing it with A7S3/FX3?

  • @ArberBaqaj

    @ArberBaqaj

A camera is so much more then the sensor. its like sayng everything is made from plastic so its all the same! Not quite =) Zv-e1 has almost the same specs and had more features than both the a7s3, fx3 and the a1 at a fraction of the cost.

S5ii/x are hot garbage cameras. They lose half their value after you purchase. Just sold mine. The new sensor is trash in low light and artificial light. The magenta wash is terrible, I’ve actually never seen good s5iix footage anywhere on the internet. The s5 mark 1 and s1 blow these out of the water, not even close.

Moire is awful, ibis even worse, super jumpy. 4k 60 crop is limiting, the hdmi lag so bad, rolling shutter, so bad. It takes great still images. I would say the preamps are probably the best in its class

Totally different level of image on the S5,(lower level.) The sensor he is hating on starts at 45mp before quad bayering back down to 12. That would be a lot of fuss if you don't value the payoff. S5 is prob a perfect compromise for people that just need to shoot videograpghy and NOT cinematography or compete with crazy pro budgets.

That’s stange, did you get a faulty unit or something, I’ve never seen more from my S5 so that’s strange, the rolling shutter you are right about. It could be better and the hdmi-lag. It’s a strange Panasonic querk that should be adressed. Low light is not A7s3 lever but more then good enough :)
