Easy way to test garage door remotes: put new batteries in it; drive around the neighborhood pushing the button; when someone’s garage door goes up, pull in and sell them the remote. 😝

What about the ring that was translucent turquoise looking gem ?
You found a gold plated ring that was marked 950. The 950 means 950 out of 1000 parts are silver (compared to 925 parts out of 1000 being sterling). Gold plated silver is called vermeil (ver may'). When the gold is worn, it cannot easily be replaced, but you can either even out the color or remove the rest of the gold with a polishing cloth or buffing wheel. 950 silver isn't very common; most pieces I've found have been from Mexico.

You might be surprised and how much you can sell them for. As always Jack the video was awesome and I think you made your money back. Costume jewelry sells two and some pieces can be expensive.
