Its because they plan on coming back to take the rest naturally, its nothing personal. With the Rabbit epidemic in Australia,with all the other invasive species Fox are good. Theyre in such large numbers because the giant selection of prey with no competition. Let nature take its course, man needs to quit trying to alter everything! Australia has invasive foxes decimating live stock, endemic species, and pets. Yet, they are worried that the invasive species must be taken out in a "humane" manner? Australia will always have an invasive fox problem.

No, actually Australia has a RABBIT problem, brought there invasively. Until The rabbit issue is knocked down to a managable level youll always have nature exploding populations of animals that eat that type of prey. In time nature will balance itself out. And CATTLE are one of Australoas largest issues, not any of the above. because they need the pasture for cattle, theyre competing with the natural wildlife for grazing land. Quit growing acres of cattle, and the problem will solve itself. Actually if you keep looking up the food chain, youll see that all of the above issues are a minor drop in the bucket, PEOPLE are the worlds most #1 issue today.

Think smarter, and dont listen to big chemical companies trying to get rid of their chemical waste and calling it "fertilizer" and "rat/gopher poison," theyre selling you a chemical byproduct that they have to PAY FOR to properly dispose of..

Just make drainage for the ditches with a screen, and clear out the screens after heavy rainfall.simple! Itll cost probably close to the same as fences anyways.

One question, how can we make so many native species go extinct by accident, and yet can't make invasive species go extinct on purpose?
@johnsellers9623
2 ай бұрын
Igkslife because sometimes the natural order of things or events that happen naturally in the wild do things better than what a bunch of big headed paper pushing wasteful lazy politicians and bureaucrats can ever do. Populations of species can disappear at a slow rate, but it would still be faster than the government can get something positive passed mainly because nobody works in a timely manner , if at all in government anymore. But if they want something negative that they know the people don’t want, they can for sure get away with getting things passed very fast, most times by voting on something we won’t like, in the middle of the night. How we let them continue to get away with this crap is mind blowing.

Yes. Even the dead carcass of a fox that ate 1080 still has enough poison to kill any animal that feeds on said carcass. Many native animals such as possums, dingoes, birds, goannas and peoples's dogs get killed when they feed the body but many Australians will deliberately lie because 1: they think it's worth it if it means the fox will get killed and 2: they don't want to admit that the battle against foxes and cats it's a losing battle. ( And apparently these tactics have not so much as dented the fox population. ) Doesn't' surprised me from a island continent that lost to a bird.

Now that I watched the video, I must ask the question. . . If foxes are such a major problem, why don't the Aussies use donkeys as guard animals? They are territorial and extremely and I mean EXTREMELY hostile towards canids. They are already in Australia, they were introduced there and they will quickly teach foxes to not come near them. When anything tries to get near donkeys and intrude into their turf, they're quite well known to remove trespassers. Most especially anything that is dog like. Really, I don't see why it would be so hard for farmers to have an additional donkey or two to protect their herds, furthermore they seem to be as expensive as trained herd dogs - if not cheaper on average! And for those who are curious. . . Do make sure to not eat before you look up how well donkey's do their job, they are ruthless, which is the only downside I can see, that it could be dangerous for strangers to visit said farms. Usually the donkeys don't go too far with people, but there's always a risk that they will. And they are hard to control, from what I can tell. But who am I to judge? I'm neither a Farmer, nor an Aussie. I don't know their specific circumstances, all I can do is give an uneducated suggestion! Edit: And if they do, then I will gladly admit that I am stupid for stating the obvious.

My friend has a small farm and due to some random shit, her livestock guardian dog and barn cat befriended the fox. Ended up working out because now the fox doesn't touch any of the chickens and instead has been going after the mice and other rodents.

A simple concrete ditch woth a 45 degree grade approx 8-10' deep will keep all out, plainly simple. They cant climb the grade and will go back to the otherside where they came from..Also these ditches will hold rainwater which is good! Just make drainage for the ditches with a screen, and clear out the screens after heavy rainfall.simple! Itll cost probably close to the same as fences anyways.

There is a bounty on them in Victoria statewide. Wild dogs too though only in parts of the state. I think dog scalps are $120 and fox scalps are $10.

There are some animals that are closer related to the wolf than the red fox that are called foxes (they are in _Canini_ not _Vulpini_), but they aren't in _Canina_ like the others mentioned, and they aren't your typical foxes. The gray fox is its own thing not in _Canini_ or _Vulpini_ but still in _Caninae_ with all the others (add in some extinct groups and you get _Canidae_ which is why we can say that foxes are canids not canines).
