I was expecting to just hear the acoustic sounds of the strings hitting the frets but this was much better.

Charles, thank you very much for a very well played rendition of one of my all-time favorite Beatles songs I have grown up with them all my life. well done as always.

So wonderfully musical and tasteful. Not only playing two voices on an instrument that technically can’t play two voices, but truly arranging the song with ambition and grace. So many people bury the melody.
@alexeypiksaev3129
Жыл бұрын
If it technically couldn't play two voices he would be breaking the laws of physics. He isn't. The instrument has an infinite amount of possibilities and his talent should show that those possibilities are all accessible with time, energy, and passion. Don't make it sound like Witchcraft - it's hard work and he rocks :)

your limits in your brain... look he obviously doing what you say is impossible technically
It's so uncommon to be emotionally struck by just a bass, not due to the instrument and the limitations, but due to the limitations bassists placed on themselves due to the typical nature of the purpose of the instrument. This was beautiful. Would love more raw point and shoot videos like this of just jamming amongst the content.
That's such a beautiful melody. Some big, really important band should turn this into a song with lyrics.

It depends on what you want to play. For me, it’s Ryan Martinie and Justin Chancellor. Fantastic bassists with their own unique style. I think the playing here is good for what it is, but it’s just not my thing and probably isn’t a realistic playing style for most bassists who play live.

I think this might be just about the most beautiful rendition of "Yesterday" i have ever heard man. Great job.
something so calming about the pace of this video, no cutting or effects, just natural talent and music
Hey! Just wanted to thank you for all the inspiration. You’re pushing boundaries for all of us bassists out there, and I’m really grateful for that. Keep delivering those beautiful songs! Thank you so much!
With your fair looks, I imagine this is what an angel bassist looks like, and it's not hard to imagine that's where you came from to play like you do...
I like this much more than the videos with many cuts, now I can just focus on the music and you playing the instrument instead of not knowing where to watch.
Hey, Charles - thanks for this! You do what you need to do to trend, but there's something so simple and serene about this. Moments like this are why a lot of us pick up instruments at home even if we never share our work. You're an inspiration 🫡

He's just straight flexin
hearing it this way, I never realized how much of a "classical" vibe Yesterday has to it.
This feels cosy, warm, and almost intimate. You've got enough skill to pull off bass as a truly solo instrument and that's freaking incredible.
Please, more videos like this. Bass players often lose the understanding of the beauty in simplicity
He makes it look soooo easy, but this is literally one of the hardest things to do on the planet in terms of music... Brilliant as usual Charles 💪
Playing the bass like a piano... a new goal has been set for me today
and its wonderful
I wondered if you would captivate me like usual without any editing trickery. Now this video is another one of my favorites. Your compositions are just way too good.

This was very moving. I can just see a whole packed out audience just pitch silent with a few seconds of silence after the piece had finished. Then eruption of applause!
Nicely done. And unlike the Eagles , the two Beatles will be quite happy hearing this.

You filled me with joy Charles. Thank you so much!
Congratulations, that was absolutely fantastic and amazing. Definitely very soulful. It's amazing how you're able to make that sound given that you only had a 4 string bass.
Gorgeous rendition @CharlesBerthoud! Fantastic, simple (and I don't mean the technique; just the no edits, raw cut), rich and full of feeling. Love it!
