Today is Eid ul Adha celebration for all Muslims. Many devout muslims are practising the sacrifice of animals while the pilgrims complete the rituals in Mecca. But you should be able to find many non Muslim eateries serving as usual.
@MrQalamQabut
11 күн бұрын
13:04 is part of the reason why all Muslim shops and eateries are closed today, Monday 17/06/2024. Muslims all over the world have two main holidays, the Eid-ul-fitr where we celebrate after one month fasting, and Eid-ul-adha where we sacrifice cows and goats to be distributed among the less fortunate...
Ben, load the Malaysia calendar into your phone so that you can take note of the public holidays. Today is a major religious holiday which explains why the nasi kandar shops are closed.
During Hari Raya you should go for Chinese and Indian ( non-mamak) foods. Do the opposite during Chinese New Year and Deepavali !😂
Mamaks are muslim and today they are celebrating eid adha.
Yeah, all muslim establishments were closed due to public holiday of Eid el-Adha, the second most important celebration for Muslim. For comparison, if Eid el-Fitr is Christmas, then Eid el-Adha is Thanksgiving.
The only option on public holiday either fast food, cooking or foodcourt inside malls. Eid Fitr, Eid Adha, Chinese New Year, Diwali, Christmas, Labour Day, Head-State holiday & Supreme-King holiday are fews main public holidays… we malaysians usually use digitalised ‘Kalendar Kuda’ (directly translate as ‘horse calender’) to refer any holidays, festives, salary payment date & school holidays.
i hv a suggestion bro.. while in malaysia.. do learn how to cook nasi kandar… maybe someday when u’re bk in new york n thinking of doing other business or expanding ur business other than being a tattooist .. u can be the first american to open a penang american style nasi kandar place…. it might be a hit there.. u never know… 😅😅
Sorry for giggling throughout ur misadventure looking for nasi kandar 😂😂

Sorry to hear about your misadventures yesterday .. it was a major public holiday in the country.
Unfortunately its one of the most important holiday for the muslims 😅
Sir, we ALL have very DIFFICULT days from time to time. Look at the good side. Be positive!
better get used to it. we got alot of holidays😂
I'm positive the delay was a blessing. (Flight) . Stay in a high vibrational mindset and watch your thoughts very closely. Make a priority to sleep - .
Sometimes, when our favourite places are closed, that's when we appreciate their existence
Hope your having a great day Ben
Your video is a perfect example why I try avoid super cheap tickets. Bad travel times, bad/additional connections etc. Just not worth the extra hassle and stress.
Really felt for you today - giving you a like here and subscribe.
I can't believe that given the time you've spent in Malaysia you're not fluent and literate in bahasa and have understanding of the main holidays. The one to plan for is the Chinese New Year where the country pretty much shuts down, not so much a problem for tourists but when your work here it can really catch you out.
You're walking right in front of the hotel that we stayed at earlier this year. All Malay establishments close on holidays. Just like Xmas in NYC, go find a Chinese (hot pot?) place.😂 Who knew that when Ben is pissed, it makes a good video.🤣
Charge it to the game 💯 good vlog regardless
Nasi Kandar Line Clear is top! Just been there saturday. We visit Penang usually twice a year and Line Clear is a must.

This vlog reminds me of my very first visit to the Philippines - and there was a crucial detail that I overlooked in the planning of my trip. When I arrived it was the first day of Holy Week, and when you're in a country where approx 80% of the people are Catholic, pretty much everything shuts down. Even the grocery stores were closed. Until i could figure things out, my first two meals were at a 24 hour internet cafe that served coffee, sandwiches, and snacks 🤣
Its a big public holiday. Many people took the long weekend & travelled to their families. Now you know the reason.. LOL

another thing is you can get South Indian food in Penang that is not Muslim, and Mamak food originates in the same place In India, only thing is they wont have beef but taste and spice level wise they are pretty much the same. that's just my opinion, EDIT: You just did that 😜 EDIT EDIT: WTF, that was $39! Then they send you a stupid email saying your stuff is not safe.... All their friends are probably gunning through your bags.... Too bad you can't just cancel and find another place.
try Chinese nasi kandar!
Yeah, you should download the Malaysian calender whilst here, since we have lots of regional and national holidays. Well, that's the beauty of Malaysia 😂
Nice aparment!
That's not brutal bro.... In Malaysia during public holidays the big Malls are not allowed to close business completely under the law in order serve the public therefore, some of food courts still open and they still have the employees work on shift too. Of course normally during the public holidays like festival celebration that's the time the shop owners taking the opportunity to rest or take off days...

Yep. Or go to a Hindu restaurant.
What I always do when it comes to food.. I almost always find the best places to eat... Right now I'm in Vietnam have found some really great places... Do not eat it places that do not have a lot of customers.... Here is a little no one trick do you find a great place to eat at a great price... You will find some restaurants have no customers... Except for a ton of grab drivers you'll see a ton of mopeds coming and going with bags of food they might have one or two tables if you're lucky... Those places are great the food is great too because it is bad they will be out of business very quickly because they are depending on grab drivers... And their rent is really cheap... But you kind of have to look to where you see a bunch of grab drivers sitting around waiting for their orders.. I was eating with a couple in Malaysia... Great prices great food... And they like when you come in because they don't see their customers normally

You know there are hindu Indian restaurants that served similar curries or maybe just a KFC with chicken. In my opinion people may have 1 or 2 food allergies but when your dietary intake have this much restriction its not food allergy. I really hate to say this cuz i know Americans are sensitive about food and health but as an Asian its not such a cultural taboo thing to say , we tend to say things out of concern not harsh criticism. This kind of behavior is called Orthorexia or disordered eating i strongly recommend a psychiatrist in the area to get professional help from just to get some advice or insight .

Anti-Asian campaign in the 1960s America.
This public holiday is Eidul Adha. It is the day wheh Muslims all over the world offer sacrifice to commemorate the extraordinary sacrifice made by prophet Abraham and his son Ishmael to God. In the past God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his beloved son Ishmael .

Today is Eid al-Adha. There are two Eid holidays celebrated by Muslims, namely 1. Idul Fitril, which is the day after fasting for a month in the month of Ramadan according to the Islamic calendar and second, Idul Adha, which is the day when Muslims in Mecca successfully perform the Hajj in Mecca. And on this day, Muslims perform sacrifices by slaughtering cows and goats to give alms to neighbors and the poor. Usually, all Malay restaurants and Muslim Mamak will have a day off, but restaurants of other races such as Chinese and Indian remain open. So many fast food restaurants such as Mc D, Kfc, Stabuk and others remain open.
