I'm a Muslim in Malaysia, I have 6 dogs at my farm (plus 5 cats). Many other Muslim farm owners have dogs. They are useful to deter monkeys, squirrels, wild boars, the kind of animals that will destroy your produce. Speaking of which, my dogs stopped a king cobra two days ago. Keeping dogs is totally permissable in Islam for practical use. You'll find herders in Morocco, Turkiye, Pakistan, Afghanistan keeping dogs. But yes, licking the face is a no no... 😊

I believe no one was prisoned because of kissing in public, that's because there are rules. Rules are good. It keeps people safe. Even football games have rules. Human beings without rules are just barbaric. We share the same earth, the same air and the same sun. As long as everyone is happy, things would be fine. Never endanger anyone, or trying to intimidate anyone. Or hurt, or causing injuries. This is the rule of thumb in Malaysia. There are just as many dogs in the neighbourhood areas of Malaysia, not in KL city though. Dogs, pigs/pork, alcohol or getting drunk and drugs, having children out of wedlock, homosexuality or same sex marriage, theft/robbery and bribes - are all against the normality of a human being. Thats what Islam emphasise.

  • @byteme9718

    @byteme9718

    20 күн бұрын

Islam is what's destroying Malaysia and your twisted think reflects that. Dogs have lived alongside humans long before men invented Islam and authored the Quran. Pork is the most widely eaten meat in the world and one of the healthiest. There's nothing wrong with alcohol in moderation but drugs are rife in Malay communities from cities to feldas, Homosexuality has been observed in over 1500 animal species, some of which even change their own sex. Homosexuality has been present throughout all of recorded human history and Malaysia has agreed, under international convention to not discriminate against anyone because of their sexuality. Bribery and corruption are synonymous with Islam and the reason our economy has never reached its potential. It's the Malays and Islam that go "against the normality of a human being" That's why JAKIM, and it's equally vile predecessors, keep you under such close control and shape your lives to the extent you've thrown away your own culture. Marina Mahathir, and others, warned you about this and now it's too late. You may need rules but that's because you're not only devoid of morals, you don't even understand the concept.

Good list Ben. From when I was there some laws applied less or not at all to non-Muslims. Not sure about minor acts of kissing, but my Christian Chinese Fiancee and I once had a visit from the religious police for staying at a resort in Langkawi. My lady friend was is the bathroom and they were going to haul me away for illicit cohabitation, until they ascertained she was not Muslim. Apparently the resort was overbooked and they placed us in the Muslim bungalow section of he resort. I was informed that if my fiancee was a Muslim I would have the option of spending time in jail or converting to Islam. Not sure if that's the case, but maybe someone knows. Another time I was hanging out with couple of Sweetish guys and their wives back in the day before digital cameras and they had some rolls of film developed at a local photo shop in Penang that had all the prints rolling out on a convener belt in the window for people to see other tourist's photos. And one of the Swedish guy's wife's asked if one of the rolls had nude photos of them on he beach in France, Italy or somewhere. He said "Oh my god! it was in there!" We rushed back to the photo shop just as their nude photos were coming down the conveyor belt and people were outside laughing. There was also explicit private bedroom photos but nothing happened as a result.

dude, just to be super clear on the dog - religious thingy :- 1) not a fully-consensus islamic religious thing, depending on the specific religious "mazhab" ie guru (?) followed. 2) most southeast asian muslims follow the Shafiee "mazhab", which stipulates that one can only keep dogs for hunting & property-guarding purposes. Cant keep em for pets, cant let em roam freely in the house. If one touches dogs with bare hands, need to clean up with water + ground dust. 3) turkey, pakistan, those other stans, + arab countries tend to follow other islamic "mazhabs" which allow keeping of dogs as household pets & minimal clean up.

It is just simple. Different place have different rules and thats making us variety and unique. If you see every place in the world has similar rules, sense, and vibe, so you will not find any something interesting in this world.. These differences are good for us to explore how different people in different country do their daily life things and it is fun. We are actually wanted to see differences, see something new and that is why people love traveling. In Malaysia you might see something ridiculous thing happened and might doesn't makes sense to you, but in fact that ridiculuos thing has shape this country better as a good place to live. You can feel safe everywhere, people acting friendly and more good manner because of these practices. We really concern about how other people feel rather than how we are wanted to feel. In western world today human right rules has made people think they are always have right if they want to do something isn't right. That makes the whole country become not safe.

Great vlog as always! These were some relatively fun laws! Thank you for bringing them to our attention. There are weird old laws almost everywhere in the world that do not get updated as should be imo to keep up with social norms, USA's not excluded, lol. Those fortunetellers may want to provide "life advice" instead of their fraudulent psychic readings of the future... dunno. Here's a humorous question for y'all: So, if Mr. "Kale" and Mrs. "Cherry Brown" named their kids "Lexus" and "Amber", and their friendly little dog, "Coco", who is always running to other people for a good petting, happen to travel to Malaysia and are offered "free drinks" which they naively took during the election time unknown to them and who also happen to "jaywalk" without using designated crossings because there were none, sit down to watch the sunsets over the beautiful Malaysian horizon while the kids and dog are running around playing, and mom and dad briefly "french kiss" in a small moment of romance, how many combined years of prison is that for each one of them, dog included? Just kidding, don't include the dog... lol (rhetorical). What a vacation! You're doing a fabulous job, Ben! Malaysia seems so awesome!!! Let's goooooo!

It is not forbidden to keep a dog in islam, I'm muslim and i have a dog. Dogs are never negatively spoken about in quran or hadith, only positively. What you are referring to is not being allowed to keep dogs inside the home as westerners do who even replace having children with keeping a dog. Allah created dogs for a purpose i.e guard dog, shepherd, guide dog etc... Not to sleep with them in our beds as westerners do.

Ben about dog, I want to teach about the misconception about dog in Islam, 1) Technically having a dog is permissible its the purpose of the dog that counts, if you have a pet dog just because its cute that it is not permissible but if its for the purpose of "Hajar" means easing your life then its permissible, something like you're a blind person and you need a guide dog it is permissible, if you want to go hunting a hunting dog is permissible, a guard dog and an emotional dog if you're a person who gets PTSD, panic attack or anything related that you need a dog to comfort you it is permissible. 2) There is 4 school of thought in Islam the most strict is "shafie" but school of thought of "Maliki" allows dog for all purpose which mean you can have a dog as a pet, you'll be surprise if you go to a muslim countries that follow the Maliki shool of thought you will see them with pet dog just like how you see anyone back in your country, Malaysia majority follow the Shafie school of thought and this is why you barely see any muslim with dog but there is people who have them mostly as guard dog. Ben about the jail time for accepting food or water during voting, 1) water and food is consider as bribe before during and after voting you can't accept anything from anyone, this law only occur at the voting station Ben about the song with explicit lyrics 1) as long you dont sing in public loudly being obnoxious nobody going to report you 2) radio station will only play the censored version of the song they can be fine if they dont 3) this law doesn't imply in private a grab car is not a public transportation its a personal transportation technically the grab driver din't break any law 4) if they want to blast the song in public it must go through government body to make sure the song you are using is not explicit unless its a closed event like a club or anything private property its fine but not in public you will be fine. This is a long read but I hope you read it, anything in your mind you need to be clarify let us know.

Some even don’t know how to train their dogs and can be aggressive. I was about being attacked by a pit bull before and that was horrible.

@@Noor881291 Yes, I was close to getting bitten by a pit bull while I was on my morning walk last year. I had to stare it down without stopping, but without running. A couple of other times I had to cross the street to avoid stray pit bulls. The entitlement, neglect, and recklessness are too much... coming from too many people. The nicer the area, the more dogs there are. Do people in nice areas not like wearing nice shoes? It's insane. If I see the sidewalk loaded up with dog crap I just walk in the street. I'm excited for Kuala Lumpur. I knew somebody out there had to feel the say way.

Regarding the ruling of dog in islam, there are disgreement among 4 mainstream islamic schools of thought (mazhab) according to Malikis schools of thought, dog is totally pure with no issue on clenliness of dog. Hanafis schools view dogs is impure only for its saliva, while Syafies and Hanbalis schools view dog and any kind of it offsprings or anything derived from it as total impure or dirty. And Malaysia (as well as other south east asian Muslim) follows this Shafies mazhab. However there are some who follow mazhab other than Syafie for personal use especially Muslims who are from middle east in Malaysia they are allowed and permissible to follow their mazhab, no issue since this disagreement is not something fundamental teachings of islam, it's just a small branch of islamic jurisprudence and Islam recognize it.

If there are some that are, it's for us locals to call it weird and crazy. As for PDA law, most of us prefer that it exist lest foreigners start imposing their so-called freedom of expression on us locals. Best to just learn to respect laws of foreign lands and there is no need to lecture us on how we should live like people in another country (this is not directed at you but foreigners in general).

You have been doing some homework, a lot of rules mainly if you follow Islam, and as Malaysia is a Muslim country it is to be respected, whether you agree with it or not, a lot to learn, so much more. You have only touched on it, the west would be a much better place in my opinon, especially for children & so on. However when you donot know any different, it may take a while to realize it all makes perfect sense and it is the understanding, even if you only know the basics.

But many Malaysians - almost all non-Malays- own dogs. There are also rescue dogs with Fire Dept or Civil Defence also at Immigration for drug busting. Many of these rescue dogs are given recognition eg recent landslide that killed 25 people near Cameron Highlands had rescue dogs uncover bodies. A neighbor nearby - some rich guy- owns like 12 white German sheperds. We have dog shelters but no where near sophistication of the US. Alot of Msians own exxpensive cats like russian blue, siamese, persian etc. People dont walk dogs here coz that culture is not here yet but very possibly because it is too hot and humid to do and most of Msians have ordinary mongrel dogs that play role as guard dog at there houses. The rich ones own miniature dogs for show of wealth, status. Plz also lookup law on sedition and see Section 233 of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act. your vlog was quite interesting. We didnt know about the RM100 fine related to dogs. Jay walking not really enforced but it is so in our neighbor country down south. Lol!!😂

Actually, most Malaysian park are not only disallowing dogs, but all kinds of pets! It stated in the park’s main signboard. But there’s one place famous for people to bring their dogs even around the mall. Check for Plaza Akadia, it’s a dogs and pets friendly place. You can find all types of dogs there in the weekend.

Your T-shirt design is beautiful. Where to buy? I named my cat Maserati. I kissed my lover in a movie theater before marriage. There are cameras at some traffic lights. Do you know that you have a summons for hitting a traffic light? Muslims are forbidden to keep dogs because saliva and wet skin are considered impure. It's okay to touch a dry dog. There are half of Muslims who keep dogs but are criticized. In Islam, if you hold a wet dog or dog saliva, you must wash it 7 times with water and once with sand or soap. Dogs actually only follow their master's orders. Dogs only bark inside the fence of the house but are more docile when outside the house. There are also Muslims who keep dogs but secretly and only outside the house. In the teachings of Islam, alcohol is still allowed in the early stages but there is an instruction in the Al Quran that alcohol is prohibited because an unwanted incident occurs when Muslims pray in the next verse.. In Malaysia there is no ban on non-Muslims practicing their language, culture and religion and guaranteed by the constitution. Regarding tattoos, there is no prohibition in the Al Quran but it is prohibited by religious scholars because they are worried that ablution water before prayer does not absorb into the skin. But in fact, recently, many tattooed people embraced Islam. Marijuana is also not mentioned in the Quran, but according to religious scholars, it is haram for intoxicants. Okay, I want to go eat, mamak chicken fried noodles. See you in the next video.

It happened because the hadith was only collected after the death of the prophet, ahlul bayt and companions. Hadiths are not memorized by friends like the verses of the Quran but are quoted by individual narrators. While the narrator's background is evaluated to determine the authenticity of a hadith. That's why when Caliph Sulaiman asked for the hadith collected by Imam Maliki to be copied, Imam Maliki rejected it out of respect for the views of other scholars. The hadith is quoted because it is used as a teaching argument by religious scholars. However, previous scholars did not add hadith as an addition to the existing 6 pillars of faith.

Since I can't reply to your previous comment, I'll try here to correct and educate you. You original comment appears below mine. The fatwa is effectively Islamic law, that's why the FGM rate is now back to nearly 100%. If it wasn't considered to be then the rates would be dropping as they were before. Malays don't think for themselves so just do as they're told by JAKIM. They rarely see past today so don't understand consequences and this is true all across Indonesia and Brunei. How do you ask a tiny baby girl if harm will be been done and again, once she's grown up, how would she know any difference? Someone hell bent on mutilating their daughter doesn't care and neither do those carrying out the procedure. OF COURSE harm is done. By definition, FGM/C ALWAYS causes harm, are you claiming it doesn't and if so on what basis? How many Malay girls have you slept with to see first hand its effects? Stop believing Malay propaganda like that you've copied and pasted. Instead, spend some time learning just how JAKIM and it's previously vile predecessors began and developed. It's always been the same organisation but has had to be rebranded for PR reasons. JAKIM, irrespective of the party/parties who form government, always exert a high level of control and are pretty much untouchable and have been since the started to grow their empire soon after independence. Even Tun M couldn't keep them under control during his first term and they publicly mocked him during his second. Scratch beneath the surface of what you see,and what's promoted, and you'll find a very different Malaysia, @benfishermin 1 day ago @byteme9718 "In April 2009, JAKIM through the National Fatwa Council released a fatwa making FGM/C compulsory as part of religious calls. However, according to the fatwa, if it leads to harm, it should be avoided. Although no law obligates Muslim women in Malaysia undergo FGM/C, the fatwa issued has a significant weight and value in society."

Of course I do not agree with the body mutilation thing in any way, I'm from the USA, to me this is absolutely mad and completely against my way of thinking, I just don't want to get too political about something like this in video or even comments if possible. Now I have 30%+ female audience, I don't want to offend anyone or talk out of place in my videos, surely the comments would be about how a white foreigner should not be talking about this on a video. I'm a guest in Malaysia and so I have to try to be understanding of what goes on around me instead of combating against it.

About dogs rules you talking about is obvious its not apply for non muslims ppl, you can have your dog even in your own house, feed and pet it as much as you like, but muslims its not about country law it is about religions law, even so muslims are also stilll bound not to abuse any animals including dogs, its a sin and will be punish, no hate towards animals because it is also Allah SWT creations . Its all about religion's law

Exactly. Even we muslims do not have dogs but we are strictly prohibited from abusing them. I myself used to feed stray dogs

The companions of the cave in Surah Kahf are sleeping with a dog inside, with them? If Allah does not criticize them in the Quran then how is it that dogs are such a dangerous animal?
