I also had no Idea it was an issue, I played this game around 2011-2012 and my barely literate self knew that the wal-nut was a walnut.

I remember a nearly-fullproof strategy I always employed: double-stacked sunflowers, followed by peashooters (replaced by repeaters, and then three-peaters), and then I'd line the front with the flaming tree guy.

Hey DF, I'd advise to place those expensive plants as far back as possible, that will help a lot in future levels. So cool to see DF play this game, this was such a big part of my childhood.

I love Pvz, no joke ive played and completely finished the first one over 5 times! 🥰 Potato mine is OP thought, at the beginning you focus on placing sunflowers and when the first zombie appears place a mine as far back on the same lane of the first zombie because the second zombie only spawns after the first one is killed and do the same to the second zombie after that you should have enough sunflowers to carry you the rest of the round 🙂 i also place peashooters on the lanes that zombies are not spawning at the same time to make it even easier.

yeah the mines let you jump straight to the expensive pea shooters or even the watermelons, if you use them to destroy early zombies and focus on getting sunflowers and sunlight early on

I experimented with potato mines and found out that placing them at the 5th last "cube" lane is quite alright since most zombies are so slow that by the time they are at the fourth last "tile" the mine has already sprouted and is waiting for said zombies to activate them. But if you have great reaction time and reflexes you can risk placing the mine at the fourth last tile before the zombie even gets to the first last tile and touch grass (lol). Question for everyone here, what are your favourite plants in PvZ? (Only the first game) Mine is the Twin Sunflowers (because they are adorable) and Scaredy Shroom (because *protecc bhebe* ).

I learned when you unlock cat tail which can be used in pool and fog. But for this trick just pool you start with 1 sunflower then you collect all the sun you can don't buy anything except the lilypad you need to evolve into cattail. Then buy cattail you won't need anything

Watching DF play this is like a flashback to a decade ago when things were more carefree

Did you know? The little red liquid on the bucket of the bucket zombie is paint and not blood, his original design is a painter and also explains why the "blood" is not dripping.

Theory: DF and Spiff are roommates aiming to break spirits and capitalism (in games)

I don't know if DF has been seeing my comments all this time, but I am happy to say that after 162 days of asking, he has finally played Plants Versus Zombies. He is one of my favorite creators and to see him playing this classic is a dream come true! Here is to hoping he uploads another.

This has to be one of my all time favorites. I still play it every day.

I love this game and have beat it so many times I'm surprised I never got sick of it. Watching your particular flair on top of this classic is just the cherry on top.

I started watching your videos not long ago and I'm loving them. Watching your previous videos actually made me remember this game, I used to play when I was a kid and decided to play it again. Ah yes, Plants vs Zombies, classic Popcap game from before their soul was stolen. Back when casual games could actually be good and not stuffed with microtransactions and loot boxes. By the way, I usually dedicated the left two columns of the field to sunflowers, and placing a wall-nut in front of a chomper is quite effective - if my memory serves, they can chomp past the plant in front of them. But then again, I haven't played the game in ten years.

I used to...and then I found the Twin Sunflowers and reduced it to the furthest back column.

It's always a good strategy to have one or two rows of defensiveness behind your sunflowers, this can also benefit a lot of strategies protecting your very expensive plants.

If your wonder if how people normally play the game, I put sunflowers at the 1st column, pea shooters at the 2nd and 3rd column, mines at the 4th column and potatoes at the 5th column. You can do whatever you want with the rest of the spots it somehow works...

@@RealBadSkater420 I have. The ones you buy in the store look significantly different than the ones that drop off of trees. The walnuts in this game look like coconut fruits that have fallen off the tree a while ago (only saw them a couple times on family trips as a kid) which is not the part we typically buy and eat in the store.

I guess it was just a matter of time before he would play this masterpiece of a game. Can‘t wait to see the destruction he causes with it.

Some tips: -You only NEED 5 sunflowers. I like to use ten -Try not to plant more than one row of Snow-peas, the effect doesn't stack -Potato mines can be used to kill one zombie early on, letting you plant more sunflowers

The potato mine is used to prolong your grace period at the beginning, by killing the first few zombies you can put down a few more sunflowers giving you a faster tempo for your economy. They are also useful for high priority targets. Two rows of sunflowers should be enough for any level with two or more flags. But the shorter levels dont really need it.

Every single time anyone calls the Wall-Nut a "potato", I can feel my brain shrivel up ever so slightly.

It's so weird to see the DF chaos applied to this game. I am always so organized with neat columns.

Every time I played plants vs zombies I did the back 2 rows has sun flowers, then a row of ice shooters, then a row of pea repeaters, then a row of pea shooters, then a row of piranha plants, then finally a row of walnuts. At least for the early lawn daytime levels.

The wall-nuts actually don't suffer when they get eaten because their almanac says all they feel is a tingle when they are getting eatan
