Use heli-coils for fixing threads. They will hold stronger than the aluminum they are embedded in. If it's good enough for aerospace it's definitely good enough for a quad.

One of my fav ways to spend an hour is watching you restore something from a pile of nothing. So satisfying. I never realised how clock like and cog heavy engine internals are. Theyre beautiful. little metal cranky clocks - so pretty. Ive always been on the edge of mechanic stuff, most racers are quasi engineers, but, its the depth of detail I dig on these vids. makes me feel like i missed 'the art' of mechanic work, you speak that language.

ESP when working with frames and stress points your always going to be better to run single line stringer beads with a mig than weave. Little easier to avoid some the undercut you have run hot enough they will lay in nice and clean looking but for not being a welder and in your garage you fixed it the right way so I give props where deserved. Keep up the great content.

A recent and obvious huge honor for Pete to be part of Yamaha's legacy of sport quads. Mike I think you really should send some of your color renderings to the Yamaha marketing, they are always great looking and stunning to see done. Most of the color combos not many folks would think of that really work on the end product. Grape Ape and Voodoo Banshee are a wild color scheme and fortune favors the bold, as the late '60-'70s Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth have shown. Keep up the great job on quality of fit/finish and video content. Pops

Have you ever tried plastic welding before? A lot of abs plastic can be welded and be strong as the original plastic. I did it during the late 80's fixing cracks and breaks on sport bike plastic. I don't know if this is a lost art, but it sure save money for my friends and myself.

Those threads need some helicoils so you have good securement. Anti seize definitely helps the adjuster bolts. Also when removing bolts that stuck, switch back from reverse to forward, back and forth. It helps break corrosion on the threads so they don't get as torn up.

Thanks for the video Mike, I’m currently splicing a frame on a YZ250, rotten frame rails, some advice is to support before doing any cutting to keep frame rails straight and aligned, good job on the repair and the weld isn’t terrible either 😀 try and treat the inside of the frame with a lubricant or anti-corrosion spray in the holes to keep moisture at bay. It will slow down/neutralize what rust remains in the frame.

I like your builds, some Builders are building Street quads converting them to turbocharged H1 engines that go to 200 Mi an hour which is ridiculous. Some of them are cool if the suspension custom tuned for Street with a quad engine geared for street riding but get converted with a street bike Engine with an off-road suspension with street tires which doesn't make any sense. If you're going to make a street quad you got to modify the suspension like it's an Indy car

man I love the battleship grey on the frame. And I'm a sucker for white plastics for some reason. 🤔 The contrast makes it pop just as much as the green.❤

Also I hate to say it but I think I liked the black grill better. The white worked great on the 700 but not so much on this one. Love the headlights though...lol.😅

I had a frame do something like that. I washed it and then stored it in a shed for about a year standing up on its grab bar and the watter settled in the frame at that location. It rusted through from the inside of the frame and I bought a whole new frame. Im not much of a fabricator yet and dont know how to weld. I know as I build this 86 250R Ill have to have some people do some things for me, maybe I can find someone to teach me some of that stuff. Good job on the frame repair, it looks like it will hold just fine.

Thank you man; I think the exact same thing happened to this one; something like you said or it was leaned up against a wall outside and the lower rear rails were on the ground in mud or something.

@@MichaelSabo Yup, it doesnt take much moisture to get inside the frame to rot it from the inside out. There is no coating or protection on the inside. I learned my lesson, I will not store a machine right after washing it. I will let it sit outside for a bit and let the water leave any cracks, crevices, or holes of the machine…
