Be aware they have released an "upgraded" version now. Beside a revised clasp with more adjustment, they have also changed the hour markers. They are thicker and more off white with a slight yellow hue. They no longer match the brighter white of the handset and bezel marks as well as your earlier version. I bought mine not realising they had made this change and now wish I had bought one sooner.

I just got mine, but I don't see the yellow/white problem you describe. It looks very good from here. The new markers are VERY nice, they are raised perhaps 1/2mm and with a square edge and appear to be applied, not painted, they are like little blocks of lume, VERY nice effect. The clasp now has 4 micro adujstments, and I THINK (from your video) they have a slightly better finish for the screw part of the links.

I have had mine for 4 days and agree with you. It is one great homage of the Pelagos. I have other titanium watches and this bezel action is the best of the bunch. The finish of case & bracelet is excellent. Dial & bezel have a very attractive tool like look. My PT5000 is -1 sec after 72 hours of run time and I only wound it a few turns to get it moving and just put it on wrist and let it wind with the rotor. Unbelievable. Maybe I also lucked out. Like many I was concerned about logo when ordering but it is nicely sized and well executed to add some balance to the dial. Like you I’m enjoying this watch much more than I thought I would.

Why are Tudor owners so sensitive? If you can afford it more power to you. Buy what you can afford and more importantly buy what makes you happy. I have friends that own a Rolex and wear it 3 times a year. Another friend that has several Tudor Black Bay 58's (very nice watch by the way) but live with their mother-in-law. Funny.

Great review! After falling in love with the Tudor Pelagos (and unwilling to part with $5k), I purchased both the Octopus and the San Martin at the same time. I absolutely love the Octo; yes, even over the San Martin. It is my first Titanium watch, and the super light weight makes the watch virtually disappear on my wrist. At 39mm and 11.5mm thick, it's the perfect size for my 7" wrist. Fit and finish is excellent, and mine keeps to within -4 sec/day. The fully articulating links help make it super comfy, and they're 'thicker' than the SM, helping give the watch more presence on-wrist. The lume even out-performs the SM, an accomplishment in itself. The only thing I wish they had done is to provide an on-the-fly adjustable clasp similar to the one on the San Martin. Either way, though, this watch is a steal of a deal!

To my mind the watchdives/san martin version in steel is much better. Titanium watches feel too light and hence cheap and they scratch easier. The watchdives version has a more interesting chapter ring, a fantastically grippy and accurate bezel and comes with the quick adjust clasp, which makes the choice a no-brainer.

@@rozinant1237 I beg to differ, I got the steel SM a while after making this video. I sold it on because I liked the Octopus much better. The SM has the interesting chapter ring and better clasp, but it felt too heavy/clunky for me. The lightweight Octopus wears much more comfortably, and the dimensions are a bit more compact. The domed crystal on the SM also had a lot of reflections, I think it could have benefitted from more AR coating. I prefer the bezel action on the Octopus too, it felt perfect. Again, both are great watches, but I personally prefer the Octopus.

Excellent review! I'm considering buying this watch and I also own a sinn 556i, and my concern is if they're too "similar" and I'll end up wearing just one of them. What are your thoughts on this?? Do you look at them together and think you only really need one? Thank you

  • @WristWatching

Great question! I feel there are enough differences between them to have both in a collection. One is a titanium diver, the other a versatile steel GADA. I’ve been using the Octopus as a beater and my Sinn 556i for everything else. Feels much better scratching up a $300 watch than a $1500 watch!

I didn’t think you would get this because of the logo haha I’m quite surprised. This case dimension + movement combo is perfect but i don’t like sunburst dials as I feel it cheapens the watch. Also titanium is overrated imo, i like a little bit of heft on my watches. So I’m still leaning towards san martin hoho. Great review as always!

  • @WristWatching

Trust me, I was surprised myself! Never thought I’d get this because of the logo, but I’m glad it did. Agreed that sunburst dials cheapen the look of a watch, especially if it’s overdone. But I think the subtle execution here works great. Hoping I can get the black San Martin in soon too!

The San martin dial is fantastic in matte black, as well the ceramic bezel looks much better in matte black then those radial scratches on the Octopus. And that Logo is awful! Don't forget you get the on-the-fly adjust as well!
