Unfortunately, he tried to play the tournament like a professional. He has been out of the game way too long and less than a hundred games prior to the tournament, wasn't going to get him anywhere. If he had fun doing it, then it was worth it. I just hope he doesn't take the loss too hard.

20:27 "It's a wash" differs in meaning depending on where you are. In the US, it means that two things cancel out and it ends up in an even situation. In the UK, Canada, and perhaps other places as well, it means that it's a complete wipeout, that one side has completely demolished the other.

Been watching your recent cheese challenges for a few weeks now. I really vibe with your mindset and reflection post-tournament (against special). You take the wins and the losses in a really mature and classy way. Since trying your 8-ling overlord drops, and trying in my own diamond matches, I’ve had a lot more enjoyable moments playing. Some wins and lots of losses, but it honestly feels way more gratifying to play like a baboon! My “ladder anxiety” has reduced greatly. Thanks for sharing your gift with us!

Your first Protoss opponent should be commended for hanging on as long as they did. Dude lost his opening oracle for no damage, has creep in his main, is getting multi-pronged constantly and still manages to hang on and try to stabilize for over 10 minutes. A lot of the opponents we see on this channel would have dipped out as soon as they lost a few bad trades to the Nydus-Queens in the main.

When you were playing that tournament I was actually thinking - man he should play Random and just embrace the chaos that he thrives in enjoys (obviously I don't know your experience or what's going on in your mind but you seem to really have a lot of fun, AND you're really good at all the races as you have shown). I don't think anyone would ever think you play like an absolute baboon, you are incredibly skilled at multitasking and keeping a cool head amidst the chaos, and also at not being caught up in the heat of battle -and being able to think creatively in moments when others would rely purely on mechanics and memory to get them out of a heated situation. But obviously above all else, do what you want and what makes you happy!

I agree with your semi-announcement. After leaving tournament play you are much wiser when it comes to your outlook on the game. You have that big picture. You know what it takes to keep up with the meta, and grind tournament level strats and you know you don't enjoy that. Playing random is a great way to approach it, it throws of your opponent but keeps you in a space you are comfortable with. And you have your community, and we're not here because you win tournaments, we're here because we love your content, sure it helps that you're a world level player I don't want to push that aside when your skill level is incredible. but no matter how many tournaments you loose we'll still be here :)

Just go wild and crazy I do not think people really care to much about win/loss we just want to see some crazy stuff. and if it does not fit the schedule... laddering as random and cheesing people is something I could watch for months to come either way. QUeens for their cost is madness. So not my favourite thing, but Ling Queen, you endless produce queens until you get twelve.. Save all vespene, but your mostly mining minerals.. constantly expand, since your aggresive with your creep spread and injects... once you ahve twelve its nydus network time... and double nydus is better... but yeah, queens for their cost and spell cast heal, their hp pool is madness and their damage is low, but early game its massive... If you concentrate on queen ling attack... you save the vespene to follow it up with massive mutas or hydars or roaches depending on what is needed. So once your attack begins you start macroing more, 4rth base/ 5th base even at the same time, drone up and tech up... shoudl have a great income... this is if you defended well... should be fairly safe.. of course if your opponent is very active typicalyl have ot adjust yourself.

Mark taking a step back so you can take 2 steps forward is the definition of self-reflection and self-improvement. I think you should play tournaments weekly ESL's or whatever so long as you are just having fun with it. I think it would be also cool if you could just drop high ranking pros with shit like hydra drops too. Also there is an argument to be had that if the pro is putting in reps to go to 4-6 bases long games etc.... Just to have the attitude of a quick game is a good game here is my proxy all in either you die sub 7 minutes or I die. If you get your reps in playing a style that you enjoy that also directly counters the kind of game your opponent wants to play or build to that this anti-meta approach could be good. Lord knows Has, Gumi and Byun made that shit work. Also if you cheese from all 3 races how will an opponent prepare for you specifically?
