This is the best "learn to roll" DVD I have by far. In fact it is so delightful to watch I would recommend it for viewing by anyone who has an interest in the sea. Most important though is that if I occasionally have a failed roll, it is very easy to mentally refer to the video while setting up for a second attempt.

I took a course on Peak's Island from Cheri and Steve Maynard about 12 years ago. I will never forget her saying, hey stay down there it is quiet no demands relax. She taught me how to go from a young guy to a mature guy who went with the water not conquering it. From her own personal story to dealing with parenthood and stress to a professional with teaching talent I say get a lesson from these two people. They are first rate and fun.

It's true, Cheri and Turner are just as great coaches in real life as they appear in this trailer! Can't wait to buy this video (and take a lesson from them again).

Tiderace are very proud to be associated with this. And also very inspired. Luckily I have the boat already and once I have watched this a few times I am sure I will have the knowledge. Looks fantastic.

"they don't require force, they don't require strength, all they require from you is a bit of practice, understanding fundamentals and really working out the details in terms of technique". What about flexibility?? To learn Greenland rolls, you need flexibility. Particularly in the core. It is easier to learn than to unlearn. Bad habits are hard to break. Learn to w/w kayaking sweep/slice roll from an instructor. Worth every cent. This video is great for Greenland rolling.

3:08 how do you lean back so far on a standard modern kayak? I can only get about half way back. Its a 13 inch depth boat. Seat back is low as possible and forward as possible. hmmm

I notice on the video people do not wear life jacket... Can the greenland roll be performed with a life jacket as well ? (i can do the normal roll but i am interested in new technique). Thank you !

Yes the rolls can be done with a life jacket. Sometimes they roll without one so you can see the body motions more easily.

Yes, certainly can. These people are set up with Greenland-style tunic called a tuilik, and PFDs are generally not worn. However, any and all these rolls can be done with full kit, meaning PFD, tow-belt, etc. Greenland paddle not necessary, either. It's good instruction, then practice.
