This is the easiest cake I ever made! Portokalopita Greek orange filo pie
The greek orange filo cake is one of the most famous greek desserts! This orange filo cake named Portokalopita it a very easy recipe, you don't need a mixer, just mix all the ingredients and bake it! Just try it today and leave me a comment if you liked it!
INGREDIENTS:
For the cake
- 400 g phyllo sheets
- zest from 2-3 oranges
- 150 g sugar
- 150 g oil
- 4 medium eggs

- 20 g baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
For the syrup
- 300 g orange juice
- 100 g of water
- 400 g sugar
- peel from 2 oranges

It is quite a heavenly dessert, in Greek bakeries you can find this and its just incredible. One of the best desserts i have ever tried and i have tried many deserts from around the world. It goes really well with Mastika flavour ice cream (Mastika is a resin with a pine or cedar like flavour).

I made it, today. I put 50 g sugar less in the batter. It turned out nice but still too sweet for my taste. I will not make it again, but it definitely is worth trying at least once. It has nice aftertaste. Eating with some hot drink is recommended.

Yes the greek desserts with syrup are very sweet. You can't make them all the time.
Yo he puesto 125 para el bizcocho porque el yogur que tenía era griego azucarado, y 120 para el almíbar y ha salido riquísima y muy dulce. Así que ni es necesario que pongáis toda esa cantidad de azúcar, si no lo queréis.

Penso che il lievito non serva in questo impasto non essendoci farina. Comunque è una ricetta bellissima e deve essere pure molto buona. La proverò senz'altro 👍👍👍

Made this yesterday, and while it was good, think it could use some vanilla/vanilla extract and will add next time! Also maybe half brown sugar and half regular sugar in the syrup. Otherwise it was still tasty :)

Hello i see your portokalopita looks dry when you made it how come you didnt add any juice of the orange after you zested the two oranges when i make it i also put the juice just curious

It will be great, but you have to add less lemon juice ( to taste)...and the rest complete with water.

După ce am primit răspunsul dvs. am observat discrepanțe privind unitațile de măsură pentru lichide, acestea sunt date exclusiv în grame în reteta scrisă, iar in clip măsurați 300ml de suc și 100ml apă, ambele în rețeta scrisă fiind date în grame la fel ca celelalte ingrediente. Care sunt defapt cantitățile reale ale lichidelor, fiindcă eu le-am măsurat în ml cum este corect ???

Sunt in mililitri, dar puteti cantari si in grame. Apa fie in grame fie in ml este acelasi lucru. La sucul de portocale va fi o diferenta foarte mica ...insesizabila.

Deși pe internet abundă o mulțime de rețete cu renumita prăjitură grecească, eu am ales această variantă pe principiul "simply the best". Totuși deși în toate celelalte rețete în compoziția prăjiturii se adaugă și suc de portocale în aceasta lipsește, iar cantitatea de zahar din sirop este exagerat de mare în raport cu lichidele. Până la urma aș vrea să știu care este varianta originala a acestei prăjituri, cunoscut fiind faptul că grecii adoră aromele citricelor, dar sunt mai ponderați cu adaosul de zahăr în preparatele lor ?

Buna ziua! Grecii nu sunt deloc ponderati cu cantitatea de zahar mai ales la sirop unde aceasta trebuie sa fie in raport de 1:1 (cat este cantitatea de lichid atat este si cea de zahar). Daca vreti sa folositi o cantirate mai mica de zahar, pentru ca, textura siropului sa fie perfecta ( si nu un lichid cu zahar) este necesar sa folositi sirop de glucoza. Cat despre sucul de portocale aceasta este in cantitare mare in sirop pentru a da gust, iar aroma din desert se ia de la coaja de portocale. Aceasta este o reteta traditionala, dar avand in vedere ca fiecare zona sau poate chiar fiecare gospodina are o reteta proprie care se pastreaza din generatie in generatie nu veti gasi acelasi gust peste tot. O zi buna

@@Greek_Cuisine Mulțumesc frumos pentru lămuriri, am reținut proporția de 1/1 pentru consistența siropului, dar voi utiliza adaosul mai sănătos de glucoză în cazul meu, fiindcă am o intoleranță față de zaharul in exces. Rețeta dvs. era oricum preferata mea, datorită simplității sale și a modului excelent de prezentare...💕

Așa este, am verificat si uleiul și sucul și adevărat diferentele sunt infime chiar acum am insiropat-o și am pozat-o. Mulțumesc frumos pentru sfaturi !❤

Привет! Спасибо. разницу в текстуре можно увидеть только тогда, когда попробуешь оба способа. Если вы не хотите сушить их в духовке, вы можете сушить их на ночь при комнатной температуре.

Zaharul este facultativ după gustul fiecăruia ca doar el mănâncă nu altul, eu pun cit mai puțin zahăr spre deloc,ca și asa sunt dulci portocalele

Από βιασύνη έχω απαντήσει λάθος, τώρα το ειδα. Δουλευω πάνω από 10 χρόνια στην Ελλάδα σε μαγαζιά και εστιατόρια με ελληνική κουζίνα και ελληνικές συνταγές. Η ελληνική κουζίνα είναι η έμπνευση μου και την λατρεύω, ασκετα που δεν είμαι Ελληνίδα. Καλό σας βράδυ 💐

But this is a typical Greek dessert , not a keto dessert! it looks fantastic and I believe it is very delicious ! And the one who does not like the number of calories simply should not bake it, or adjust the amount of ingredients as per his taste ! But I will bake it right away tomorrow!
