Even in DCS they are known as SPAMRAAMS, the most accurate combat sim uses them this way. So I don't see anything wrong with this play style, they are called "Fire and Forget" for a reason.

im not sure chaff is supposed to be that effective though, gaijin will probably do something for it. in DCS people are ducking behind mountains to avoid amraams, not hanging out high in the air blasting chaff

Strong chaff is there for balance, also DCS doesn't have mouse control and 3rd person view to notch like war thunder

fire missile with a special mouse button Radar beyond/within bvr: N key Select radar/irst target to lock: 0 key Lock radar on target: pressing the mouse wheel

What are your binds for your countermeasures? (Switch countermeasures, use countermeasures, etc)

these missiles have booster for arround 8-10km distance; so doing top-down attacks is the best for them to gain inertia... you can consistently snipe enemies flying low from 30km away if you are 6-9km high

From what I've heard it seems to hit a speed limit and then end up with lower range than the aim120, I think this is a bug?

Once it gets fixed it will be better than AIM-120A or B. For now just use the AIM-120."

Idk man maybe learn how to dodge missiles? Stay out of toptier if you got such a skill issue that u cant dodge a missile. Toptier is mostly missiles.

I BVR and notch and do not always die to missiles, hell I have rounds with 4-6 kills BUT I STILL SAY IT‘S UNBALANCED because my opinion is consistent whether I am winning in the plane or fighting against it, it‘s unbalanced 3. ,,Most effective‘‘ maybe try to prioritize the right targets and not spray and pray
