Recently picked up guitar this guy makes guitar look so much more approachable even when the stuff is complex. Makes it really digestible for beginners

Yep, especially when it's not even the right scale so you're just playing random shapes looking for a sound to match 😂

The Blues face near the end was perfect.
You are so right. I blend the extended a minor pentatonic with the a minor six arpeggio when playing gypsy jazz. Gives a nice "in" and "out" vibe to solos. I have not tried the a minor six arpeggios in rock / blues. Worth exploring. Keep pushing our musical thinking Marty!@@
Marty you are still the man!!!! Thank you for all your insight and fun lessons over the years and I’m still picking stuff from you even now over two decades later! Keep rocking Marty. You are definitely a national treasure Brotha! 🤘🏾🎸
Hey marty. Just started learning the acoustic guitar and your beginners vids are great 👍 so much to learn but hopefully i can master it one day. Love from shetland

Sweet Jesus Marty. I’ve been practicing scales and getting stuck using one position then you show me this and now I can stop going up and down the fretboard. Seriously I feel like the rockstar I’ve dreamt about! Loving this guitar now…

The trick is that all the patterns repeat at every root note anywhere on the fretboard. In this case, the A note.
Always smooth and tasty Marty…

Hey Marty, I'm on Lesson 5 and I seriously thank you for your free lessons. I used to play somewhat back in the day, and it's like they say, "don't use it...you loose it." So for me your lessons are a great refresher course and a relearning tool. Love you Marty!! 💥🔥💥🔥🎸🎸🎸🙏🏿

Marty, Releazing this shape is moveable! Blowing my mind I can use it ANYWHERE. I only started playing Friday. 3 days and I've got this, e scale, and PF wish you were here. Thank you fr. Subbed and liking this.
Dude I’m so grateful for your teaching. I’ve been learning from you since the beginning and still continue to almost 10 years later. Thank you!
That guitar sounds amazing! Seems like a great practice idea - I'll be sure to give it a try. Opening up the neck is the key!! 🔑
Last year I couldn't play a lick of lead. Thanks to you I produce my own admittedly raw sounding original music. Thank you Marty
Awesome lesson Marty, love how you break it down so effortlessly.
I was looking up scales and thought that’d help me with solos so this video is exactly what I needed to see haha
Love you’re content, really helpful. I have learned so much from your tutorials. I’ve played for about 6 months now, finally feeling comfortable with learning scales now. You helped me through bar cords and everything. Thank you brother
Wonderful tutorial!

Marty, you are the best. Just started playing guitar a few months ago and your videos have been so helpful. Keep doing your thing, much appreciated
this is the only scale that i know how to play and its been 8 years lol, definitely dont stick to just this one guys 😆
Thank you!
Thank you sharing this Marty. I've been practicing this on an off all day along with my other scales. I got it down now. Thank you so much, this will really help me a lot.
Learned this when I was 11 from you and have used it ever since!
Marty that’s is so cool and looks so easy!!
The nice thing about this scale is it's the simplest (I don't know about "best") pattern to remember, covers 2 1/2 octaves, and, like every pattern, basically works in every key once you find the root. It's two fretted notes on one string, move over, three on the next, move over, then repeats, with the expected 1 fret back adjustment when moving between the G and B strings because they're a third apart instead of a fourth. Every move is either a whole step spanning 3 frets inclusive or moving over a string (minor 3rd). I say "basically works" because in some keys and/or positions you'll want to reverse which strings get two notes and which get three in order to access the biggest range of notes, the best sound, or transition into something else. So it's really TWO similar patterns.
Thanks marty love your guitar videos

Hey "Marty " . Du erklärst es in deinen Videos , auf KZread, immer gut und leicht verständlich. Danke Dafür 😊
Tu si que enseñas bien Un saludo desde Navarra
Agreed. I like just practicing the whole pentatonic scale, up and down. Getting creative.👊
Stick a chromatic note for the 4th position then next three notes on top including tonic note an octave up .....blues scale

Love this scale! Thank you for this Marty!!! Just jamming with this and finally understand what it means that the root note feels like home base.
Great info…luv your techniques Marty
Wow thanks Marty. I was kinda in a newbie rut this broke me out of it thank you.
I’m watching this video and my daughter just asked ‘is he the guitar expert?’ Definitely came my answer
Thanks so much for this quick tip!! I knew I was missing something- maybe now I won’t sound like a total beginner when I play a solo
Most relatable guitar post this scale and it in its full form helped me stick with guitar
Scales blow my mind
One of the best teachers on KZread. I will credit him when I make it big
Man I learn so much from you and it makes an immediate difference
Every scale I’ve learnt is from Marty this dude is a legend thanks for the content bro

Oh my god! Your face! I was right wit ya fellow electric guitar player .thank you for teaching..I have learned so much from you!
Lovely! Ty so much! Now this gives me motivation to practice!
Thanks Marty❤❤❤❤
Already learned something new today but watching this video, I learned something new the second time. Thx 🙏 awesome video!!👍👍
Marty i dont know if you realized all the doors you have opened with this video right here. I been stuck in a rut forever playing the scale up and down box shapes. And trying to figure out what to do with it . We finally ,finally now i get it after watching this video. Thank You . Catch ya later Im gonna find some back tracks and go soloing . Hell Yeah
This is really useful because, as someone who is trying to improve lead playing, I don't want to sound like a robot churning out a scale, I want to USE the scale to create something melodic.
Cheers Marty learnt so many songs from you over the years thanks buddy
Thanx 4 everything you do. I have learned a lot.
Thank you ,great lesson ,I will practice this !
So good thanks Marty!
thanks Bro , you're awesome! regards from Costa Rica!
Nice brother! Short, quick and simple. Practice that enough then you can throw easy in there as well
Thanks man!
You’re the greatest Marty. Appreciate you!
Excellent as always. Just suggesting the fingering change for the top shape needs a little extra clarification.
Good lesson man

This was really fun to play with, I just lost an hour messing around with this scale, thx bro and much love fam
I just started playing. Wish we had KZread when I was 13

Actually useful and quick
The face at the end 😂
Your a good luck charm as well as great teacher

Love the Expression Marty! I better Practice that first!!
I need a tab of this. I struggle with pentatonic scales still to this day. Open and bar chords are no problem. Suck at trying to flow on the fret board.
Thank you! I love all your videos.
thank you my guy🎉
Bro looks zonked off a tab and some za staring at the camera like its the deep treacherous abyss.
The ”DWIP” at the end
I'm not going to lie but I have to admit I was checking out some other guitar channels but then you win me back with this little nugget
So simple yet so crazy
Right on!
